Ok for one thing it has been established that Free Will exists in this universe which already means Fate is not absolute and most likely a guide line of sorts. So breaking the orb would not give King free will, he already has that, most likely it might cause havoc in his life or give him more control over his life in some way that we don't know of yet. If it gives him more control I can't think of any way that would lead him to becoming Petes Avatar.

Personally I think after some sort of fight the orb with either get broken or lost (possibly falling to earth for others or even King himself to use.) because I find it very unlikely Pete will get away to use it for what he wants. Even if he did (lets say Cerberus lets him go for some reason, because they dated at some point or something like that, or he wins the fight.) I highly doubt that Heaven is going to just let him keep the Fate ball for very long.

I know. some choices are inconsequential to your fate, there can be multiple paths to one specific fate, and fate could be something that just shows th probable outcomes of your different choices. fate has many interpretations.

'course, now I'm full of questions, especially with Cerberus being "employed" as a guard. Is there a hierarchy in the Housepets cosmos? Where do the superbeings fit into it? What role do they play? Are there other celestial beings, and how do they differ from the ones shown so far (especially regarding their abilities and place in the hierarchy)? What relationship do the superbeings have with other celestial creatures? With each other? With the animals and humans?

And why does no one ever give Orthrus any love? ;_;

Housepets! has actually fallen so far into Cerebus Syndrome that it's more comparable to Schindler's List.

Hey, I just noticed that in Monday's strip, Pete's last speech bubble covers up the Housepets website logo thing. Pete is such a jerk, he doesn't even want Housepets to get proper exposure!

And a million and one years is a rather odd number.

Panel 3 is probably the best Pete face we have seen yet.

Man, either that is Pete screeching in pain on panel 6 or Cerberus really knows how to surf on people. i would go with surfing since it just seems much cooler.
