Re: The Silver Screen

Today, Herschell Gordon Lewis died. He was a pioneer in exploitation cinema. In 1963 he created "Blood Feast", the world first gore film. He help lead a trend in independent filmmaking that saved the film industry even as the giants of Hollywood decried it. So, on my next day off, I am goi...

Re: My Little Pony

I know that its his thing to mess with people but this time it was almost to the point it was off-putting. He seemed pretty malicious toward Mac and Spike. That is fitting for his old villainous ways, not fitting of someone who is reformed.

Another big update for me. Here are the really good ones. "The Conformist" by Bernardo Bertolucci. It is the story of a man who thinks that he can be "normal" if he conforms to the norms of Fascist Italy. Including being sent on a mission to Paris to assassinate his former teache...

Re: Unpopular Stuf You're Interested In

Black metal. Although it is more popular in different parts of the world, here in the US it tends to get overlooked more often due to the popularity of rap, pop, and post-metal (Pierce The Veil, Sleeping With Sirens, etc.). There are occasional tours in the US for black metal bands, but most I've s...

Re: My Little Pony

I thought this episode was good. Even though he is supposed to be reformed, Discord is still a massive jerk. And I agree, Big McIntosh should have had dialogue. One of my favorite references was in the jazz club as well. The pony with the banana cutie mark was Josephine Baker, a famous jazz singer, ...

Re: Unpopular Stuf You're Interested In

I have to ask if anything is ever truly unpopular. If something does not catch on in the mainstream or shunned outright, there is always some kind of following for it. This is the phenomenon of the "cult following". Like cult films. It also extends to other pop culture items. No matter wha...

Re: Popular Stuff You're Not Interested In

Most of them are garbage anyway. The vast majority of American sitcoms usually follow the same formula of a group of whiny, neurotic New Yorkers who go to absurd lengths to spare each others feelings. Or they are crass and tasteless. I am also coming around to the idea that Adam Sandler should be ba...

Re: Best Dog Breed for you ?

If I were to get a small dog, it would probably be a pug. They tend to be very even tempered. But once again, I would like to impress the importance of socialization and training. Even with a dog breed with a reputation like the corgi. This brings me to the story of my friend's dog, Lou the Corgi. T...

Re: Popular Stuff You're Not Interested In

I can see the appeal of Bojack Horseman. Not only its furry theme but also its running theme of depression. I never understood card games and tabletop games. It all part of me not being a gamer, I guess. I don't see the appeal. Also I have seen guys at my local comic shop almost get into fistfights ...

Somebody is setting here up as a patsy. It could be within the realm of possibility that it is her owner. He has proved that he is a scum bag in the past, given the way he treats her. But if he was offered the right amount of money would he try to murder Keane?

Re: My Little Pony

I really liked this episode and hope to see more of Thorax. For me, the best bit was him recollecting his childhood (larval stage?) and seeing all the new born Changelings crawling around the holes in Chrysalis's legs. Maybe in future episodes he could be an ambassador for the Changelings and Chrysa...

I prefer big dogs. My family used to keep Boston Terriers, though. But I don't think I will ever keep any more of them. They tend to be stubborn and hyper active. I my experience, big dogs that I have liked are German Shepherds, Boxers and Pit Bulls. I know those dogs have a bad reputation for aggre...

Re: Popular Stuff You're Not Interested In

I would also like to add The Walking Dead and pretty much anything horror, be it popular or not. Horror stuff is just not my cup of tea. I don't get people who get a thrill out of being scared. Most horror stuff doesn't even scare me anyway. It's a case of I've seen it all before. I love almost any...

Re: Popular Stuff You're Not Interested In

Anime can be a tricky thing. A lot of them will pad out their storylines so much watching them can become laborious. The best example I can think of is "Dragon Ball Z". A single arc could take 40 or 50 episodes to complete. This is a huge investment of time and sometimes money. I remember ...

Re: Popular Stuff You're Not Interested In

Video games in general don't appeal to me. I guess that is just another factor contributing to me being such a social misfit. Even though I have never played "Five Night's at Freddy's", I can appreciate its horror elements. I am a huge fan of most anything horror, and having the characters...

There are not enough hours in the day for me to list all the "popular" things that don't appeal to me. Maybe I'm just getting old. Some people treat you like you have some sort of deficiency if you "don't get it". I don't. I fail to see how it would ever appeal to me. Somethings ...
