I was lucky (and am still thankful) that I found Housepets! when another webcomic author did a Halloween special and two of the characters were dressed as Peanut and Grape. So Rick, maybe you could do some networking with other authors? Like maybe do some guest comics? Just a suggestion.

I would just like to make it known that I am not among those. Just bad timing on my part.

Oh... I don't think it's such a good idea to give a link. I'll give a title!

Concession.

And be warned, it's not for a sensitive audience.

Am I really the only one aware of this? No offense! I just thought more people would have known.

Concession.

But it's not for the faint of heart!

You'd be surprised how many people in the world can't/won't read warnings.

So the Spray idea has been done already.... Alright I'll just drop links in my signatures.

I read concession too lol. My avatar should be familiar to concession fans. And yeah, its a mature comic.

Couple comic sites;

http://www.drunkduck.com/
http://www.smackjeeves.com/

Smack Jeeves is mostly sprite and anime style comics, but it's open for everything and a pretty good community. Drunk Duck is a lot more professional in standard, so that might be better for Housepets!

So . . . does anyone else have ideas of places to promote? I would like to try and focus on places that are more about webcomics than furry stuff.

Well you can try to set up a yahoo group on housepets.

This is another reason I find talking about Housepets (and Slightly Damned) uncomfortable

Because there is such a high percentage of people who like this comic along with all these horribly contrived, morally repugnant comics, I'm afraid people will assume I also like these other comics, and they won't state it so I can tell them I don't

At least none of you like Shredded Moose or Billy the Heretic from what I've heard

Just make it clear you don't if people have an issue with it. Something like that really shouldn't stop you from enjoying a comic.

I hate Concessions, and most other Furry-Fandom-Specific comics, actually. My favorite comic is Sinfest though, (that may have been where I got linked from) so I'd be hashed in anyway.
What's so bad about the possibility of people wondering if you like "morally repugnant" comics though? People think I'm some sort of rapist/serial-killer from my music, but I don't care.

So far I've showed Housepets to a couple people who I thought would like it. Once they got the concept of talking pets, they thought it was good. It's one of the few comics with Anthropomorphic characters in it that isn't Furry-centric, so it's easy to get non-Furries like me to read it.

Sinfest isn't nearly as bad, so I wouldn't put it in that category.

Well with music there's much, much less of a chance people support the lyrical content that goes with music they like, so I don't worry about that myself.
With comics, the story is the entirety of the content, thus people are more likely to support or tolerate the moral decisions of the characters and the method of presentation by the creator. I mean just take a look at some of the threads in Helldump Success Stories on the SomethingAwful forums (but not at work ;) ).

Ok, enough is enough. I take sole responsibility for this thread getting out of hand. It was my fault in the first place for bringing up such an obviously contoversial subject. I was hesitant at first to even go along and give the name of the comic that led me here. I see now that it was indeed a very bad idea to bring it up. I deeply apologize those who have become uncomfortable due to what has taken place here. I apologize for this argument that has started over something that doesn't even need to be argued about. I take responsibility for what has taken place and all that has happened. If there is any punishment that need to be done, please direct it towards me.

As was pointed out, the TWC vote incentives are what really get people voting on that site.
It is more inviting to have an image greet you than a blank page.

Word of mouth is how any of the big ones get big, so I think the best thing you can do is just keep making a good webcomic. You can also encourage your loving fans to spread the word, but considering the forumdwellers are about 2/3 furries, chances are most of the places that will hear from us would be places focused on furry stuff; there aren't a whole lot of general webcomic communities.
I use the banner as my sig on most of the forums I frequent and they're not furry.
