Housepets!

My dog still hasn't given birth yet.
And now I've got a sickness of some sort.

Oh drat. That sucks. If the dog is in labour and still hasn't given birth then she urgently needs a vet. If she's just overdue then keep a close eye on her.

Nah, this is a fine bit of drama! I was hoping to avoid a lot of the sort of mopey sad drama, the comedic and and scary situation drama is A-okay!

Richard is now asleep so Piper and Radar are in the shop, with Piper testing Radar to fidn out what she knows.
Nadia and Koa are still at the vets but Blick is in the car because she's finished her appointment.
The other pets are in the park, having finished the game of hide and seek. Elliot tried to introduce Flynn to Senka when Flynn was obviously very nervious of her, being the only prey species in the park (aside from Chip, of course). Then when Flynn and Senka shook paws, her claws spiked him and she showed him her teeth and then Elliot hugged them both, trapping Flynn in the middle so Flynn's body shut down and he fainted as rabbits sometimes do when they're very scared. Kandi has asked all the predators to back off a bit so Flynn can wake up calmly. Lucky could stay behind with him though.
Leslie ran to the Porter's house to alert them to the situation.

Oreo was found as 6 month old kit, out in the boonies by his owner Gorge Nordic, A railroad lineman for the Santa-fe railroad.
For the past year and half he has been riding the rails with his owner. looking for bad track, fixing signals and switches.
Gorge recently took a promotion to working in the railroad switch-yard just outside of town.
Bringing along there move into the civilization of the town. This also meant Oreo could no longer go to work with him.
He stays outside while his owner is at work. Since Gorge's live-in Girlfriend Cleo, is uncomfortable being around him. not sure if she doesn't like him, or just doesn't trust Oreo in the house while he is away.
Oreo still tries his best to please Cleo, seeing her as his owners mate.. Enduring a weekly bath, soaking in odor neutralizer (made for pets who get sprayed by a skunk.) then washed again in a scented shampoo, usually strawberry or coconut, to keep his natural scent covered.

When outside. he is placed in a harness that is locked to one end of a long chain, with the other bolted to the dog house. Oreo's "doghouse" is modified to look like a train station depot, at the Skunkington stop.
The Door has a small notch at the bottom to allow the chain to pass. The switch to the light fixture in the ceiling is right next to the door. Inside there are blinds on the windows, that operate. a small 12" LCD TV/radio on the wall. small basement fan is in one window. There is a dog bed in the far corner, with pillows and blankets piled into it. In all the skunk-house inside is 4.5' high by 4' wide by 6' long.

Oreo currently doesn't have any papers, no collar or pet tags, an has never been seen by a vet. legally he is pure feral in the eyes of the law. If animal control or the rangers were to pick him up, he will get examined, inoculated, ear tagged, and relocated out in the forest, a long ways away from the town. where he would have real trouble surviving on his own.

Oreo is inquisitive, an outgoing.
Although he might have problems relating to other pets, since he has spent most of his life interacting with humans.
He has self-taught himself to play guitar. usually can play it in the right key, even tho he can't read music, he has a natural ear for music, by listening to a song over an over he can figure out how to play it.
Oreo is also an accomplished singer, although his voice tends to be in the upper range. thous if you heard him singing on the radio, it would be hard to tell if it was male or female singing that song

How's he going to get out and socialise if he's chained up all day? I suppose in this world the chain is more of a formality though, isn't it? Unless there's a lock on it. Will he get out once the vet sees him?

Also, can you give us more about Oreo himself. What does he like doing when he's not working on the rails? What kind of a personality does he have? Is there anything unusual or outstanding about his appearance?

Other than that, he should be a fun character. I can already here the screams of "SKUNK!!!" and see the people scattering.

I like how he's not some dog, cat, or rabbit. I was thinking we needed more unique characters around here.

Nope it's an actually chain, one end attached to his harness the other bolted to the dog house.

Once he gets taken to the vet.
Samantha in her role as wildlife officer, would have to decide if he could be reintroduced back into the wild. or granted pet tags. where then he would have the run of the town, just like the rest of the pets do.
