Just a reminder of the rules for RV..

RV has a rating of PG-13, to PG-17 max.

Posting rate of 1 post per day to a max of 5 posts per day.

Longer, more detailed posts, are better than simple one line posts.

I'm going to buck Buckdida, an allowed characters to be seriously hurt/killed.
But use this new power sparingly an rarely for a good reason.
Seth wrote:After walking a couple blocks he stopped(not sure what the map of the neighborhood is like so feel free to correct me)

There is a map of RV, but it is hidden away in the old OOC thread.

RV is set here, an Rav's barn is in the picture in the corner.

Rav's barn, Fort Venison.

Dark Green=Forest Treeline
Red=Locations that we have referenced a detailed location. (and we have interacted with)
Light Green=The park (yes, it is a big park. It's a very big park. It's an animal friendly park. What would you expect otherwise?)
Gray=Various roads and unimportant buildings. The road that's larger than the others is the "main road."

Some of the buildings have letter notations on them...
R=Rav's house (and the barn behind it. Both are in a box, which is an undeveloped field.)

All Pet friendly have ratings of PG-13 max, just like the forum. This does not exclude RV.

The following post can be found in the forum rules
rickgriffin wrote: Not for Discussion:
The rating of this forum is PG-13 at maximum.
This fact isn't up for debate. If any posts are past PG-13, the minimum that can happen is the post being removed. Depending on the post, further actions may be taken.

(Hey, I was sent over to Richardson Valley because I was told you guys might have an opening. So, here goes...)

Name: Sergei Tsar (real name: David Bishop)

Gender: Male

Species: Dog, Siberian Husky

Age: 4.8 years (17 human years)

Neighborhood: (??? Ugh, I have NO idea how that works...)

Gang: (??? Have no idea what this is either)

-Appearance-
Sergei has the physicality's of a regular husky. Sergei's left eye is green, while his right eye is blue. He generally has a sad look about him. He wears a simple, brown leather collar; with a pair of small platinum colored dog-tags. Will sometimes wear glasses and, on occasion, blue jeans.

-Personality-
Often very quiet and collective. On the outside; Sergei appears bitter and sometimes extremely paranoid. On the inside: Hopeful that someday he'll regain control of his own life. Willing to help others and just wants everyone to be friends.

-Backstory-
Sergei (or rather David) was once a regular sixteen year old teenager...
until the fateful incident.
On a whim that his pet might be in danger, David ventured deep into the underground facilities of the Phenomenal Pet Pals Pharmaceutical HQ in Victoria, California in search of his pet. There he discovered ex-soviet russian scientists experimenting with a device which could transform any animal into any breed desired. The Russians had hoped that they could militarize the weapon; transforming ordinary house pets into those of a more feral and violent nature. David feared that his husky, Rook, would be permanently disfigured or changed by the device, and attempted to stop them from experimenting on both his pet and the pets of others. Caught by some of the facility's guards, David was brought before the leaders of the facility. The project leader (to be revealed possibly later) , was joyed at the opportunity to have a human test subject for their machine.
The experiment was successful.
David had become the first human of many to be transformed by this russian device.
Renamed "Sergei One," David was originally supposed to be... "put down." However, feeling both shame and pity for the boy, one of the scientists (Nicholas Tsar) stopped his untimely death, by offering to make "observations of the boy in a neighborhood environment." Reluctant to grant his request, the project leader finally agreed. Both David (Sergei) and his pet Rook (now a wolf) were both left in the custody of Nicholas, who assured his fellow researchers that he would terminate both Rook and Sergei when they were "no longer useful."
Since then, the three of them have been looking for a neighborhood to stay at; Sergei and Rook fearful of their new owner, and Nicholas trying to think of a way to turn the two of his companions back to normal.

-Other Notes-
Sergei's father is Nicholas Tsar, owner of the "Phenomenal Pet Pals Pharmaceutical" Despite how his owner speaks (which is with a thick Russian accent), Sergei does not share this with his owner. Often receives educational lessons on misc. things (i.e. Mathematics, History, Writing, and Hand-to-Hand combat). Will sometimes pull out a dust grey wallet and study the picture inside (does not let anyone for any reason see this photo when he is in possession of it). Both the jeans and the wallet were his before the "incident."

Name: Rook Tsar

Gender: Male

Species: Wolf

Age: 7 years (24.5 Dog years)

Neighborhood: (???)

Gang: (???)

-Appearance-
Rook has dark brown fur with a large black spot covering his right eye. Striking green eyes, which glow at night. Has a dark and uncomfortable stare. Wears a thick corduroy red collar with a black stripe running around the collar. He has a worn Rook piece hanging from a dirty ring.

-Personality-
Dark and ignorant, but likes to get friendly with the ladies. Deep down, his old husky self futility attempts to return him to the way he was before. He is constantly at war with himself... often speaking and sometimes arguing with himself aloud.
He has a weakness to burritos. It's an addiction when it comes down to burrito consumption.

-Backstory-
"It was supposed to be an ordinary check up. But, many of the pets of Victoria Ln. had warned him otherwise.
Rook was going to wish that he had paid heed to their warnings.
Locked away, Rook witnessed as the Russians experimented on dogs, cats, birds, and mice of all kinds. And, often times, many of the subjects failed...
horribly.
Rook didn't want this. He just wanted to stop getting sick. So did his owner David.
David.
He had tried to save him, but it didn't seem like either one of them was going to get out of this alive...
or at least the same as they had walking in."

-Other Notes-
Rook speaks with a very thick Russian accent. Very accomplished Martial Artist. Loves to impress the ladies. Rook is not a "Major Player," but likes to follow Sergei around. So encountering him is likely.

until Cid an the Animal control adventure in the bushes is resolved.

D-Singer wrote:Hmm, even if it's just backstory, would a human being transformed into a dog fit into the cannon of this RPG?

This backstory is a bit too much Sci/Fi for RV's realistic reality. as much as i am a fan of forced transformations.
There just is'n anyway to physically change one species into another one, at RV's tech level.
An since there is no magic allowed in RV, there just is not a way to make a "King" character in RV.

But liking the Idea, an the fact there is already evil scientists working in under-cover labs plots in RV. I had to try to come up with a way of making this work.

The plot device for making this work, a "dream machine". (enter evil maniacal laugh here.)
((Altho it is really pushing outside of RV's tech level, it might one day be possible to do.))

What the "dream machine" does is reads the memories of one person, an then takes those memories an impresses them upon another mind as there own memories.
(like in the movie, Total Recall. only doesn't work that well, think of this as the alpha test version of the machine seen in the movie.)

This would mean the Original David Bishop an Rook, had there memories read my the machine. an possibility there time spent in the lab erased, an were sent back home none the wiser.

Then Sergei an Rook2, would wake up in new bodies, an would think that they were transformed!
David's personality is stronger than the husky's his memories was put into, so while he is calm an collective, Rook's was equal to the wolf's, an therefor you see them struggling for dominance.
Rook wrote:one of the scientists (Nicholas Tsar) stopped his untimely death, by offering to make "observations of the boy in a neighborhood environment." I can see this as a continuation of the experiment.
How many memories of the original can they recall now?
Do the memories fade over time?
How long do they stay mentally stable?
How much more, an faster can a human memories enhanced pet learn vs. a standard pet?
How does a normal pets behavior change when enhanced?

An as to going back.. well there is no going back.

... Uh... I'm a little bit confused as to what you said, but I'll try to quickly summarize it.
So, you're saying that in order for my characters to work, the device used would take the memories of both David and his pet Husky and put them into different bodies. Well, that't not exactly what I had in mind, so I may have to look for a different neighborhood. I do like the fact that they loose most of their past memories though, that could be a side-effect of their transformations. Anyways, to answer your questions:
- Sergei (David) can only remember that the picture of the person in his wallet (to be revealed later) is somehow important
- Rook's memories fade, but Sergei's slowly remembering more and more about his past
- Rook is the one who is mentally unstable. He is struggling to return his personality to the way it was before. Sergei however, is perfectly normal. He just doesn't act "bright and cheery" all the time.
- "How much more, an faster can a human memories enhanced pet learn vs. a standard pet?" I'm not quite sure what this means.
- (enhanced or transformed?) Well, the ex-Soviet's intended to militarize their "genetic's machine," so most of the pets experimented on became feral and extremely violent. The device changes their genetic programing, so they become more violent. Sergei (David) and Rook were the result of an "accident" during testing (Nicholas Tsar's secret intervention<- This is a spoiler FYI) Rook still has violent tendencies, but his "inner husky," manages to keep him in check. Sergei is normal, with the exception of his left eye.

More simply stated, the fact the character back-stories involves something that’d otherwise be impossible if not for it being fiction, (in this case a human being physically transformed into an animal), it doesn’t fit the setting.

However, if it’s anything less than that, I’d gladly approve, because it’s fact the people sometimes have a thing with playing god and trying to genetically or mentally alter animals to be militarized, with catastrophic results.

With this said, if that was the case with these two then I approve. If the back story keeps the human-to-animal transformation thing, then ‘NEIN’, try for Brookshire Meadows. That's my vote.
