I like Judy's design there! Not too different from the final, but she's very cute. :3

Yeah, Judy did come out pretty good in both this and the final design, but like I mentioned, I do wish she kept the taser in some form, as I really don't like the tranq gun. I settle with equipping her with a firearm. Nick, in my opinion, got a real design improvement.

I'm not too positive on how his personality was in the original script, as I still haven't read to far into those, but the final catches how he was in the official release. My question becomes this; why did Nick have a regular projectile?

Finally got to see Zootopia! It took several months, but I have now seen the movie...whew, that took waaaaay to long!

If it's any consolation, I never saw several great movies until after YEARS that they came out, such as Monty Python's Holy Grail, Forest Gump, and Truman Show.

Anyway, any thoughts on the movie you'd like to point out? I've watched just a handful of the deleted characters and scenes that are on the Blu-Ray.

Yes. What do the carnivores eat?!! 030

Fish. Possibly birds.

I believe it was stated that carnivores eat fish, bugs, and plant proteins. Foxes are omnivorous, wolves can eat some plant matter, but I think with cats, what plants they're capable of eating is heavily restrictive. I would imagine that the fish would have a much higher demographic due to this.

Though foxes still need meat to survive. We just can also eat a limited amount of plants! Unlike cats.

Byron Howard on Twitter mentioned that predators eat fish, plant and insect protein.

They also haven't ruled out if birds and reptiles live in Zootopia yet, but they did say "Maybe" x3

It was at this moment that Finnick knew, he was doomed.

I got the art book the other day, just started reading through it. Even the technical stuff is pretty interesting to read. Seems the movie was one hurdle after another, and it really paid off.

Any fan fics y'all would recommend? I've been keeping track of two, but one is on hiatus.

I had a thought. Was there a single "fuzz" pun in the entire movie? That seems like missed potential.

At least once during Judy's training.

In the Honest Trailer, they did call Judy "Hot Fuzz" as part of the joke.

Thanks, Sleet. Sequels are tricky business. This is one I'd hate to see them get wrong.

The layout supervisor for Zootopia. He's also worked on several other Disney/Pixar movies. He's a talented artist/animator in his own right and a great photographer.

Can you imagine what would happen if Disney made an NC-17 movie?
Something tells me Disney wouldn't want to sully their reputation by doing that.
Does Kids (1997) technically count? It was unrated but WAS supposed to receive an NC-17 rating, and was released by Miramax, which Disney owned at the time.

I have those, too - a daughter's joke gift. I think Disney designed and went into production before there were some major changes in the script. In an earlier version, Hopps was kinda "quick on the taser". Later, the whole taxed thing was written out.

So, Tiny Lister (Finnick) passed away. :(

Also, Zootopia+ debuts on Disney+ (get the pun?) sometime in the future!

Sad to hear about the actor. He was still rather young, haven’t seen the cause of death, though. Been losing a lot of celebrities this year.

Saw that news on a Zootopia tv series. From what the synopsis sounds like, it’ll be slice-of-life with each episode revolving around the side characters in the movie. Wouldn’t be surprised if Nick and Judy are relegated to framing device at most.

Sad indeed, all the more when it's someone young. So there's a Zootopia tv series (noted the old guy) - this forum keeps me informed in a whole range of arenas I wouldn't regularly encounter.

Would love to see another Zootopia. There is a good supporting cast (just like in Housepets although minimizing Nick and Judy would be risky for a major feature. Still it would dodge the potential controversy/disappointment of having to work around "shipping" expectations in the audience.

Tiny Lister wasn't exactly young but he wasn't old either which is what makes it suck. He still had so much life to live. I hate seeing news about people dying. It is really making me feel more sad than usual. Anyway it looks like he died from Covid-19 so that is another reason this disease is an *******. :x

Still not seen Zootopia, from what I read it seems like something I'd probably like. I'm useless at keeping up with film releases.

I think I gave it a watch a few years ago when I was stuck by myself on the subarctic tundra, on one of many nights with nothing to do... kinda like now, come to think of it.

As far as I remember, while the characters were appealing and fairly well-written the plot was pretty much basic Disney stuff, and the performances weren't particularly good or bad.
The subtext about racism was pretty neat though, 'cause it approached it from a more nuanced angle that you don't often see in media. If the setting's up your alley and you're open to some self-reflection it's probably worth a watch for that part at least.
