Brent is correct. I grew up on Mighty Morphin' too, Sleet.RandomGeekNamedBrent wrote:he said starting members, the green ranger joined Mighty Morphin' laterSleet wrote:Green and black is weird? Man I must be spoiled by the original Power Rangers, then.
Speaking of MMPR, the toy for Goldar in the upcoming movie was revealed. Now, I've mentioned that I'm forgiving of these changes, and despite not looking like Power Rangers, I like the suits, the direction for the story sounds interesting, and a few of the zords look kind of neat.
...in my opinion, Goldar's redesign looks terrible.
I'm hoping it's not his only look, like maybe this is a "giant" form or something like that. I recall Scorpina looked entirely different when she went giant in the original series.

Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

Re: Chat Thread 42: The Answer To Life, The Universe and Eve
Even after my short time in the workforce, I've learned that that's a very easy phenomenon. Sucks, because a plan could be dashed by an unexpected busy time. Normally the next two months for me should be very slow, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's not the case, judging from the last two weeks.
You'd think everyone would be GONE during Christmas Break, but nope, everyone shows up in the dining room. Could've been worse, though.

Back on topic,
eenyhoo, green and black alternate out for the fifth slot on the team usually. with the first three almost always being red/blue/yellow, and the fourth usually being pink or white. MMPR was an anomaly twice over in that regard (both pink and white on a team together, both black and green on a team together) and RPM is the only time i know of where the Black&Green combo wasn't due to a 6th ranger, and one of only three (four if Magna Defender counts as a ranger) instances of it happening at all.
black and green together is about as common as female red rangers. (SPD, Samurai)
Really? I still need to correct that? ugh...RandomGeekNamedBrent wrote:he said starting members, the green ranger joined Mighty Morphin' laterSleet wrote:Green and black is weird? Man I must be spoiled by the original Power Rangers, then.

New Power Rangers movie trailer just came out. I think I'm a bit more excited. Still not too fond of Goldar's design.

Re: Chat Thread 42: The Answer To Life, The Universe and Eve
In the trailer I saw Alpha looked a bit too ET-ish and organic for me, and the drug test gag was just bad. The Pin-Board-Wall-Face-Thing replacing Zordon is actually kinda neat though.
Zords still look like the offspring of the old 3D movie zords with dinobot bayformers to me, though to be fair toy reviews already had me expecting that, so not as disappointing as it could have been.
the suits, the ship, the villan, and the Goldar-But-Not-Really-Goldar monster would look good if the movie were anything else, anything at all, but they still strike me as intentionally missing the point for the sake of "blockbuster appeal" as they are, just as they did when I first saw the suit design leaks ages ago.
MMPR in name only, in the same way Abramstrek is Startrek in name only, or the Bayformer movies are Transformers in name only. They retain the absolute minimum possible of the source material to still draw in at least some of the old fans, and improvise the rest from the back catalog of summer blockbuster cliches to draw outsiders for the sake of profit rather than artistic integrity.

Re: Chat Thread 42: The Answer To Life, The Universe and Eve
What I don't get about the zords is the fact that the Mastodon and Triceratops have six legs. I know that they're emphasizing the "alien" part of MMPR, but really? Pterodactyl seems too stiff, I think. Somehow it having a moving head in the original helped out, while the new one just seems to fly like a plane. Maybe it does move and it just isn't in the trailer?
MMPR did have a few bad jokes, to be fair. "Zack's Wax" anyone? Now I wonder if they'll have a Herbie-esque flying car. What was the point of that car again? They could teleport! The only times that thing was useful was when they used it to get a little girl to safety in the middle of the monster fight and one time when they lost access to the Command Center. Was it ever used after that?
I'll admit, Rita having access and actually using the Dragon coin is interesting. But come on, Lionsgate, why did you do this to Goldar?
Honestly, I'm considering getting the new morpher to go with the ones I have.

I've never been interested in watching Power Rangers myself but with these new ones, I like how blue is a wolf, making him pretty darn close to being a blue fox, and how orange is a scorpion, as orange is my second favourite colour and Scorpio is my star sign.

I suggest "Tastes Like Words"
It's a bit of a reference to The Sims. When they got a lousy, cheap fridge, and they eat food from it, they get the "Tastes Like Fridge" moodlet. I just replaced "fridge" with "words" obviously.
My RL girlfriend and I sometimes randomly say "Tastes Like Fridge" to each other in real life coz she's Sims mad. Literally grew up playing the whole series.

Re: Chat Thread 42: The Answer To Life, The Universe and Eve
I would suggest having a list planned out, but a lot of people could show up in the interim, and said list could get lost, anyway.
If I was any good at names, I'd suggest something. Let's go ahead and throw in "Names are hard, okay?!"
