Re: Homestuck
perhaps it is so.
Is this the second reset for the trolls, or is the second earth session running parallel to the first troll session? in which case, we know that the troll session here will inevitably need to reset to create the trolls we know.

Re: Homestuck
I'm not sure, actually. I did hear a theory that UU is one of the trolls from before trolls adapted to be cruel. It kinda makes sense, considering the weird time crap that goes on.

Re: Homestuck
which would mean that UU is an alternate version of the Sufferer. and that this is the session that the Sufferer remembered that caused him to preach that they didn't have to be hateful.

Re: Homestuck
Woo Homestuck!!!!!
My friend told me a while ago about it and I didn't really want to get into it because it was 5000 pages or so at that stage. I left it for a while longer and it became 6000 pages long. I decided to dedicate a week of my holidays to it, reading in between working and I only just made it.
In line with the current discussion, I do think UU could be from the previous troll session, however I don't think it's the Sufferer, first because the Sufferer was in the cruel version of their universe, growing to be an adult, second his horns were stubby while UU's were recently revealed to be long and wavy, thirdly the ancestors don't necessarily have any link to the previous session because they were part of a completely separate universe and fourthly UU's little avatar pic is a medic alert symbol which simply befuddles me.
The cufflinks are interesting but I don't think we're supposed to be able to deduce UU's identity just yet. I'm willing to wait it out for a bit!
Interesting point though, everytime I think of UU I think Umbral Ultimatum. Possible hint? No idea what it could be...

Re: Homestuck
The symbol is a caduceus, which is often mistaken for the medical alert symbol, the rod of Asclepius. Greek legend says that when Asclepius died, he became the constellation Ophiuchus, which is often treated as the thirteenth zodiac sign. Ophiuchus's symbol is a U with a tilde through it, which goes with UU's name.

Yes! I was hoping it would be something roundabout like that (classic Hussie). Nice info Sleet!

Apparently a second book is in production! That's part of why Andrew Hussie is putting the comic on hiatus for a few days.

Do you have the first one because the whole idea of a book kind of confuses me considering the animation involved. I keep thinking it'd still be good to have but I kind of only want to get it if it's good, your review?

Re: Homestuck
The animations are approximated with a series of panels for each significantly-animated page. It's a little awkward but it still manages to tell the whole story.
The real reason to buy the books is the commentary on every page. It's humorous and interesting. I'd recommend it.

Okay, the newest update is awesome. Dirk is so awesome.
Also I love how they used Time On My Side for the music. That song is so great! Though it was actually written for Dave, not Dirk.

Re: Homestuck
For my Homestuck bronies
Dirk is not a true brony. :/Andrew Hussie on tumblr wrote:“We know that Dirk has a genuine fondness towards Rainbow Dash. What are your thoughts on Friendship is Magic? Do you enjoy the show, or did you only include the cyan pegasus for the sake of humor?”
I’ve seen like one episode. It’s nicely done, but it’s a **** show for kids. I do some silly **** with my spare time but I am not a child. Some people think this makes Dirk a “brony.” I think it’s more that he really does watch it and evaluate it for whatever studious purposes he has, but just happens to like that one pony unironically. A brony does not this a dude make.

I am disappointed. At least he acknowledges the show is good!
I figured Dirk wasn't a proper brony anyway.

Re: Homestuck
Finally caught up on Homestuck.
I figured that UU was pretty clearly Ophiuchus whatever (I don't care how it's spelled enough to look it up I guess).
The Snake Holder. Is explains the cadecus. And the U's. and everything.
but she has a partner! and there's only 13 zodiac signs. I wondered if maybe the "6" is ACTUALLY half a yin-yang, and her brother is the yang.
If that were true, then he would have to be:
Derse-Porspit dreamers
Boy-Girl
Not share the same interests (she complained about him not being as interested in her researching and whatnots as she was)
And perhaps related to each other very closely, such as brother and sister.
Also, the appropriate text color would be light grey and dark gray.
Also, that would explain why her symbol is the caduceus, instead of the astrological sign. There could be two trolls for Ophiuchus. which kind of works, because technically it is a Bi-corporeal sign (in mythology only, not in astrological terms) and there are two distinct entities; the man bearing the serpents, and the two serpents.

Re: Homestuck
awesome analysis. Every bit makes sense. Didn't they also establish that the sufferer was kind, but also had an angry side? which would make UU and her "brother" the two poles of the Sufferer's personality.

Re: Homestuck
Plus some people believe that dead troll to be a younger Mindfang. So perhaps these other trolls we're seeing are younger versions of all the ancestors? That would explain the UU/Sufferer thing.

Re: Homestuck
I'm fairly certain that's the case, since we have precedents set by 2 resets. The reset of the initial troll world that led to the one we saw, during which the ancestors and descendants traded places, as well as the current one in which the original 4 kids have traded places with their ancestors.
I'm just gonna link Huss's answers to things here. contains some language.

Re: Homestuck
I don't think she's the sufferer for some reason because I am just so opposed to the idea of two astrological signs not matching up even though that's the idea of the signless.
but nope no way totally obstinate.

Re: Homestuck
so apparently the guy who played Rufio in Hook is reading Homestuck now. Hussie is allegedly worried that things will get awkward at the part where he drew himself kissing Rufio's corpse.
Re: Homestuck
I was actually wondering how that happened.
Rufio's friend: "Hey, you should read homestuck"
Rufio: "Why?"
Rufio's friend: "no reason"

That would be just beautiful if he doesn't realize what his character is in Homestuck. What I'd give to see his reaction...
I assume he's the Dante that the "HELLO DANTE" in the corner refers to?
Yep. Follow him on Twitter here.

Re: Homestuck
rufiozuko is his tumblr he's using.
Anyway so I'm guessing that undyingUmbrage is ACTUALLY Ophiuchus. But I suppose it could still be that they're both "twin" Ophiuchuses like I said earlier.
but his is the official sign of Ophiuchus. Also, "undying" is definitely a reference to Ophiuchus.
They are still two shades of grey (like I said) and they ARE the opposite of each other. Even their typing quirk is reversed. And they have the same Handle acronym.
Also I think it's cool how they represent the fandom of homestuck so well. :3c
I hope at some point uu complains about how convoluted the plot is.
Oh also I think uu and UU should be the distinction.

Re: Homestuck
I believe that's canon. The Pesterchum transcripts list their abbreviations as UU for uranianUmbra and uu for undyingUmbrage.
It's possible they're both the Sufferer, whether as a split personality or as two trolls who became one or whatever. However, I find this unlikely. I think they're just two more trolls, probably of the ancestors' generation, and they might not even start playing Sburb.
I'm very amused that in addition to the other cultures the trolls represent (furries, juggalos, et cetera), we have characters to represent Homestuck fans.

I actually the split personality thing would explain a lot and would work well, but I more or less just don't WANT to believe that.

"Unconsciousness" (Dead) can only be cured by going to a hospital.
Or by someone using Healing Omega.
Or eating ramen noodles.
