Just saying

Just a thread for people to point out things that bug them in the comic. Not like things they don't like, but things that happened that are sorta like "Wait, what."
An example would probably be better.

Okay everyone remembered when Pete was released right? A whole bunch of adults where there and saw it. A few of the pets we're too. Now after it happened NO ONE ACKNOWLEDGED IT. You would think a griffin rising from the forest would be the talk of the town, on the news, all over the internet. No one says anything about it ever. The only character that even have acknowledges it ever happened is Zach. The only reason Zach does is because he has all those animals following him.

My opinion on that is: being that it was so dark, everyone saw "something" but no one was sure what it was. Since everyone knows griffins don't exist, it would have be rationalized down to "something, but I couldn't see it very well" by most (except the crazies, but... they're crazy :P ). It would have been the talk of the town for a few months and then it would have slowly faded into the background. Now it isn't talked about much anymore at all.
That is how I see it.

Still, it seems strange that no one would make any mention of it whatsoever (well, at least that we saw in-comic), even just to say "Hey, did any of you see that thing in the sky last night? That had the black speech bubbles? That was kinda weird."

And another thing: Pete, at least judging by the size of his text, was loud. Even if they didn't see anything, they would have heard a loud, deep, probably discordant voice screaming out "I. AM. FREEEEEE!!!" all the way to the next county. That would probably get talked about, if only as a hoax / the greatest Halloween prank of all time.

But don't forget that he can use his magic skills just to made people didin't remember anything or didn't notice his presence.

Or memories of the event were erased from everyone's minds.

But then why do Grape and Peanut remember?

Because they were in the temple?

That could work, would also explain why (i assume) Zach remembers. If the temple was holding Pete it probably has magical properties.

I guess that works, but then you might run into some weird situation where Peanut and Grape remember something that no one else seems to. And that hasn't happened. Perhaps because they noticed no one else remembers Pete busting out of the temple and agreed off-screen not to mention it to anyone. If not... well, that brings us back to the original problem.

This is what I always assumed was true it makes the most sense.

Same here for why Peanut and Grape the woodland creatures, Zach and (while not in the Temple she was protected by magic in the house/possibly also Dragon) Sabrina. Tarot being Dragons Avatar I would assume would have remembered anyway.

I think we kind of need Rick to answer this one if he wants to/actually has an explanation to get a definitive answer.

You know it wasn't just about that. This thread is for anything in the comic that boggles your mind.

Oh like how Rick said that Pete's house just dissapeared in the ALt text of one of the strips, and no one thinks much about it?

Or the fact that dolphins are telepathic, which is only mentioned twice, both times as joke? Seriously, you'd think the scientists would be all over that.

Most likely they already have been. I would be nice to see stuff like that however. Maybe in the Novel.

Or the fact that an ARMY of animal rights activists have not descended on farms across the Housepets world.

Most of the pets don't seem to know they're real parents. That makes me sadface.

Also, I have to say, we don't see puppies ever! Or kittens, or baby animals. I guess the Housepets are maybe considered puppies and kittens maybe but still.... well Bino did have that birthday flashback when he was talking to Sasha, but we only see the wolf cubs. hmm...

Well, it looks like this, because "parents" prefer to adopt a little older pets and on the other hand, I don't see a couple which can have puppies or kittens at this moment. Most likely at this moment it will be Fido - Sabrina, but I'm not sure what will be final effect of this mix ;)

Do not forget about Pap's appearance in the one-off "Not Good With Children."

It might be because if Rick introduced a puppy as a regular character, they would become too popular because of how cute they are and the audience would want to see them all the time
AKA the King effect

That, or Kittens/Puppies just aren't meant to have a area of introduction yet that's indepth. There may not even be any depth needed either. >.>

All we know is that there is school for this stuff. Whether all the pets had to go through with it is debatable.

I noticed that in https://www.housepetscomic.com/2010/03/08/foreignese/ peanut is not wearing his collar, while in all the other comics in this arc, he is. Did anyone else notice this?

I think that was intentional. Ever seen Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom?

I believe Rick has said that alt-texts don't have to be canon.

There isn't enough separation between the spirit dragon and tarot. We know they arn't the same person ,but from all the times we've scene the dragon and seen Tarot they don't seem to be any different personality wise. A bit to the point where he might has well said they are the same person.

Pete's lower half, couldn't have Rick at least made it blue?

Gryphons (griffins?) are half bird of prey, half lion. I'm willing to bet the legs are the lion half.

Lions are not blue; that would not make sense.

Of course, if we're going to talk about the color scheme, I'm fairly sure that there aren't any blue hawks, falcons, or eagles. But I stand by my previous comment.

Good point, it just bugs me that half of his body is a completely different color, as I've stated twice before...

Okay, moving on!

It's normal when we're talking about Gryphons, their legs are in different color than the rest body, because they have lion legs. I don't see anything odd here.

Yeah, I guess I just want my shapeshifting quasi-dimentional deities to look genetically plausible. :)

no, because he has always had ears. they just looked different the first time he appeared. they were exactly the same in the dog days of summer as they are now.

Gryphons in folklore usually have a lower lion half that's of the same fur color as the lion. Tradition works wonders and i think the same works with Pete as well. And i love the blue upper look.

If i had to go out of an edge here though and suggest a different lower leg color it would be close to the idea of pure white, but then i would think of him being a Gryphon and a Cockatrice hybrid somewhere in that line-up. Curse them halfling character sheets!
