Honestly I could see Marvin maybe stargazing with a telescope as a hobby. Of course we probably won't ever learn anything more about him since I don't think Rick will bring him back into the comic.

I personally think that these stargazing sessions with Solar were a way to do something relaxing after having to deal with Tiger's shenanigans all day, he finds the topic interesting, but doesn't care about it too much. But that's the beauty of how differently we can think about these characters.
I'm a bit afraid when it comes to these rarely used characters, because everyone has a different image of them in their head. When I'm telling these little stories that go among the pictures, I probably add stuff to these character's that might contradict to other people's concepts. I don't think mild stuff like Max being the self-proclaimed big bro of Solar or Marvin spending the nights away from the Arbelt house to relax would annoy anybody, but I have some bolder thoughts about Daisy and had some about Fiddler and Keys too (but I didn't go with that, because the their original description denied it). But what calms me down is that people here in the forums are very nice, so I'm sure that we could solve it a civil way if any of my additions annoy people.

Anyway, here's the most recent thing I drew. Solar was 'discovered' by Fiddler when she (yes, she) heard him singing on the way towards her home, they talked for a short while and Fiddler offered him to visit her and Keys when they practice. So he did and met Keys too whom he could share his love for detective stories. Solar befriended the musical duo as well and he really enjoyed hanging around with them. To be honest I'm still hesitating whether Solar can play on any instruments on a decent level and whether he should be playing on a guitar or a trumpet, but even if he is 'only' good at singing, Fiddler and Keys were happy to have him around. The highlights of their friendship were definitely the performances where they worked as a trio, it was quite rare as Fiddler and Keys almost always worked perfectly as a duo and Solar never wanted to bother them by constantly asking to feature, Solar only joined when they asked him. These performances were the rare occasions when the otherwise timid cat fully came out of his shell and enjoyed life the most.
Solar's 'disappearance' didn't effect their performances, but they sometimes did feel like something is missing. Keys sometimes felt low as he was a bit more close to Solar.

I finally drew my two characters together. On the day Nadia arrived to Babylon Gardens, she noticed a pair of green eyes peeking over the fence. She didn't give too much thought of it, but when she got home from walk and noticed Solar again, she decided to say hi to him, they are gonna be neighbors for a good while after all.
I felt the need to emphasize two things, that Nadia is a borzoi (and borzoi is not a small breed) and that Solar is a small cat. I'm also quite happy with the background, I kept doing those without any pencil sketches in the past two months and I think I managed to improve in that time

I don't think it's very wise to ship another fan's original character with a character whose only known inclinations in canon have either been gay or non-existant lol

The two clumsy giants would be a pretty fun pairing, but they wouldn't work out as a couple because Nadia is lesbian.
Also Rick sort of confirmed Fungo in a post which was never shared here given it was NSFW content. But I think it will be canon in the actual comic too when it continues (hopefully in this decade)

If Fox and Mungo do become a couple I hope they don't make Fox completely gay. That would not explain the very strong feelings that he had for Sasha. Almost to the point of getting kicked out of the K-9s for her. But until I see it in the comic, I choose to believe that Fox and Mungo are just friends.

Anyway, how did Solar's brother Sonar die? I assume it was from some illness?

And I'd talk a little about Sonar. The short answer is yes, he did die from illness. I don't know exactly what illness caused it.
But let's write a longer answer too. I'm still unsure about how long pets live in the HP-universe, so I might made some mistakes in the story. Sonar was already quite old when Solar came into the picture. He was originally a stray cat who was adopted by Mr Benson before meeting his wife and having children (and he now has two children, one of them has already finished university and the other is studying at a college), so he has been around for a long time. The first 'symptom' was that he lost his hearing. After that, Sonar got weaker, his steps got shakier, his vision got blurry (despite wearing glasses), he lost weight and felt pain in his limbs. He died about one year after becoming deaf

It sounds like it would be from natural causes then and not an illness that killed him outright. If he got the illness because he was getting old then I would attribute that to aging so to me it seems like it was old age.

Here is Nadia's first and last visit in the Good Ol' Dogs clubhouse. Not long after Nadia moved in, Daisy involuntarily made a mistake when she invited Nadia to the meeting of the Good Ol' Dogs Club. Everything started well, Nadia and Daisy were trying to stay awake during Bino's seemingly infinite speech until Nadia recognized a familiar face observing the crowd (well, rather the lack of it) from the shadows. Yes, Nadia meet Duchess before moving to Babylon Gardens, they featured in a few dog shows together and it's safe to say that they didn't become friends. Duchess was looking down on the borzoi due to her clumsiness and frequent blunders while Nadia didn't like Duchess' condescending and snob attitude. Little fun fact that Duchess also witnessed that extremely rare moment when Nadia became extremely furious (so furious that she let out 'Nasty Nadia' and believe me, you don't want to see 'Nasty Nadia'). One of the reasons why Nadia was happy to leave her old home was that she won't have to meet such unpleasant dogs like Duchess on a regular basis anymore. So she was frankly shocked when she noticed an old competitor at her new neighborhood.
After the meeting Duchess came up to her and struck up an unpleasant conversation which was cut short by Daisy who saved the situation with the usual "Daisy-move"

One of Nadia's hobbies is baking and in Babylon Gardens she can hone her skills with much more freedom. Solar sometimes joined her, he had no prior experience or interest in baking but who could say no to some tasty pastries?
I can already see Breel coming in and saying: "Finally! A worthy opponent, our battle will be legendary!"
Side note: I need to learn how to draw tasty foods, because those muffins are just simply there, but they are not looking delicious

This blueberry being thought it was flat muffins until you pointed it out.

They are muffins though but I thought they were cookies at first. You got to look really hard to see the bottom of the tin so you can see that its one for making muffins.

When Sonar's health started deteriorating, Solar decided stay beside him all the time. He was there for Sonar constantly. Previously he responded quickly to his friends messages, so it was surprising to them when he suddenly stopped replying. Solar did receive these messages, but he focused more on taking care of his brother and constantly said to himself that he will reply them later... but he never did. The thought that he is ghosting his friends didn't cross his mind.
But after Sonar passed away, he read all the messages he left unanswered and that what was the moment he broke. Despite none of the messages were hostile and his friends showed genuine worry about his absence, he couldn't think straight and jumped to the worst conclusion: he turned his friends against him. He was too afraid to actually find out whether it is true because he feared the possible worse outcomes.

I always worry that I am turning people against me in some way so I know how Solar is feeling. Except I need to learn that nobody likes me anyway so me turning people against me will never happen.

I slowed down a little as of recent, there were even a few days when I didn't make any sketches. During that time I still managed to draw Nadia's siblings and make a little change in her design. I changed her ears, so now they are floppy and perk up whenever she hears something interesting. I did tweak her "hair" a little, but the story behind it is that she came to Babylon Gardens with short hair and started growing it out after she saw Sasha's hairstyle and developed a crush on her.
Let's get to the image context. When Nadia visited Solar at his home for the first time, she immediately noticed a piano in the living room. Back at her old home she learned to play on piano and while she wouldn't stand a chance against Keys, she was decent at it. At that point Solar didn't sing for a long time, he was quiet since his breakdown, but he instinctively chimed in with singing when Nadia started playing. Let's just say that Nadia was astonished when she heard the cat's voice and couldn't stop complimenting his talent. It's been long time since Solar last felt the happiness which came with singing, so it was both freeing and surprising experience for him.

Thank you! Singing always put him in a good mood, I thought of a process where he slowly starts singing again. He stopped singing after his breaking point, then shortly after meeting Nadia he started humming while doing chores and (spoiler alert?) after he finally reunites with his friends, he will sing again. But that'll have to wait because I want to show things in chronological order and Nadia still has to find out that Solar had more friends in Babylon Gardens (pencil sketches are done for this, now I have to make it digital)

I think I mentioned to things here previously: Sasha was the first pet Nadia met after the move and that Nadia is not straight. Yes, she had a crush on Sasha and she is terrible at hiding such feelings, making it obvious for anyone that she was falling for her. After seeing Sasha and Kevin together, Nadia gave up. I don't want to turn Sasha bi just to ship her with my oc, especially because in the comics she seemed very much hetero (but correct me if I'm wrong), also I personally like her and Kevin as a couple.

Thanks both, good to be back, had a tough time recently but feeling more my old self. I was going for a muscular look (most equines are!) need to work on more expressive manes, hair is hard!
