 Re: When I was young(er)... When I was younger, most of the kids had a pet turtle caught in the local woods, swamps, or ponds. The unwritten rules were (1) no snapping turtles, (2) release in spring (mating season), and (3) release at site of capture. Today, with a few exceptions, most of the kinds we'd catch are now endangered species.
