Gian nodded to both the girls, smiling as he marched forwards again. Every once in awhile, he'd find a snake that could jump out at anyone and he'd move it away. He only ever did this with those who didn't know how to travel through the woods. And there were very few, so he enjoyed the practice.

The path wound deeper into the brush, and it got thicker, demanding a thinner line then a spread out group. Gian pushed branches back, and ducked under fallen tree's now. The bugs and snakes getting more frequent, though he only tossed a few away. The dangerous ones. He stopped suddenly and looked around, ears perked up. With a smile he turned around. "Almos' there! Now, we jus' gotta make it pas' de' rabbits place... de' won't like it if I sho' up... de' not like me too much."

Ulysses cracked his knuckles. "They try to lay a finger on you, son, or anyone else here, and they'll discover what can do the pet of an ex-boxeur."

Celeste smiled slightly at Ulysses' protectiveness. "I do hope that goes for the rest of us," she said, only half-joking.
As she continued to walk, she nudged Adel gently with her elbow. "If it makes you feel better, I don't think Ulysses was trying to be pushy," she spoke barely above a whisper."He was only trying to help you." She added a small smile with her words, showing she actually was trying to make him feel better.

Adel was beginning to feel guilty for having hidden his problem there, but he really didn't want for everyone on the island to pity him. He stared at his feet as he talked. "Ja, und I may oblige him, but for now I zink I need more time to think it over."

Roxanne looked at the wolf mix. "Why is that?" she asked with a curious expression. "You said earlier that you broke the rules, and that they caught you and... they cut you... What could you have possibly done to earn such a cruel punishment?"

"That makes the two of us," Celeste sighed, looking a little sad. Then she stiffened her shoulders and straightened; the sadness becoming her usual seriousness. "But don't waste your hope on me; I've no need of it." Not giving the dog a chance to respond, she turned away, silently ending the conversation.

Gian shook his head at his dad. He understood those who were protective, even some of the o'Salisgrave could get feisty when protecting something. When Roxanne brought up his reason for the rabbits not liking him, he frowned, and rubbed his nose as if remembering that pain. He turned away, and started walking again, going slightly off the path, heading around the rabbits territory. "... I made a friend." His voice was low and pained. He was thankful he was ahead of everyone, as he wiped his eye's to keep the tears from falling. He tried to pretend like he was just rubbing his nose still, hiding that the memories hurt.

Adel opened his mouth to say something, but then Celeste turned away, closing herself off. He sighed. I do not zink I can ever understand vat is troubling her, but it seems painful...

valerio wrote:Streaker approached the female. He then took her paws in his own. "Kathryn...I won't waste time flattering you, as I know you must be very self-conscious when it comes to femininity. So tell me, will you accept the kiss of a stranger without hesitation, without fears of the unknown? Will you teach me the ways of your affection? One try is all I ask, then you'll be free to reject me and make me suffer for my impudence."
Colin watched the display with interest. He'd half expected flattery or some display of machismo, but this was... interesting. Kathryn also seemed rather taken aback by the fox's approach. She leaned forward, looking intently into his eyes before she replied. "You actu'lly mean all that, don't you?" She paused for a moment, and a faint smile crept across her lips. "Aw, why not. C'mere." She leaned in to lightly kiss the fox on the lips.

Streaker returned that gesture with all the care and prudence and love he could put in it, wanting to prolong the moment, savor it as its fullest, but without scaring this beautiful creature or giving her the wrong impressions...
When it was over, with a paw the silever-coated fox idly scratched Kathryn's chest fur with a paw. "You know, my dear and wild beauty? This could be the start of a veeery good friendship..." And flashed her one of those sly grins only a fox could produce.

Roxanne noticed how Gian's mood shifted. Immediately, she felt utterly terrible for bringing up what seemed to be such an uncomfortable and painful subject. "I'm sorry! I... I didn't mean to..." she said, ears and tail drooping low.
"I watch ponies now! Ponies are cool!"

Meanwhile, Colin was looking back and forth between the two of them. "Oh, c'mon," he said indignantly. "Tha's really all it takes?" Kathryn stuck her tongue out at Colin. "Well, he's a better kisser'n you, that's fer sure." She turned back to Streaker. "If you're gonna be around fer a while, maybe we should plan a more formal meetin'."

Celeste noticed Gian's shift as well. "You didn't mean to, so there's no reason to feel bad," she said to Roxanne. Normally, she wouldn't have tried to soothe the collie, just because it wasn't her nature, but now she was desperate to distract herself from her short conversation with Adel.

She didn't want him to stop hoping. She didn't want herself to stop hoping either.

Gian caught the distress in Roxanne's voice, and quickly wiped his eye's. He spun on his heel and smiled as brightly as he could at her, the sunlight coming through the tree's caught his wet fur and glistened as he forced himself to laugh. "D-dun worreh 'bout it! I'm sure Ay'll getta' see 'er again som' d'ey!" With that, he walked up to her quickly and gave her a tight hug, though he had to admit... it was more for him then her. He spun around after he let go and marched forwards again, paw in the air pointing towards a peak that could be seen in the distance though the tree's. "Onwar's!"

Well, they live among us, instead. They're alive and mean 15 meters, 1 ton of muscles. You'd be a juicy snack for one of them. "A hound of a few words, are you? I like it, it means you know your priorities. Amyway, there is NO such a thing as a 'thriller package', got it? The tourists who want to explore the most dangerous area, those 'natives only' and 'eggheads only' will try to fool you into believing they have a right to go there cause they paid for it. Pure government subsidy, got it? They think hound = docile stupid mutt. So you can bite their butt if they try to force you into escorting them where they can't go. And *I* will rip your tail off with my own teeth if you get bribed or violate out of compassion... Although I must say that no one has survived a direct encounter with a Titan Boa, so I am reasonably sure you won't be so silly as to risk your own life for a bone... Oh, and don't forget the dolphins."

The collie jumped in surprize as Gian hugged her out of the blue. She thought he was the one in need of comforting! She even smiled a little as they continued on the path, the cub was growing on her fast... As they kept walking, she pulled out a small paper bag from her backpack. Reaching into it she popped a biscuit in her mouth. It was her favorite brand, and the equivalent of a bucket of ice-cream for her. Roxanne offered the bag around. "Biscuit, anyone?" Then she looked at Celeste. "So tell me Celeste, what do you do when you're not on an island in the middle of the ocean?"

Streaker chuckled. "Heh... Dangerous rabbits. The pet ones we have are scary creatures that you could kill with a 'boo!'. never met a big bad rabbit... Anyway, me, well, I work as model for a human/pet fashion magazine. The photographer are ready to kill each other to have *moi* on the stage. Did you know I was voted 3rd in the top ten of the cutest pet models? I'm outranked only by a wolf and a German Lycaon. In fact, that's why Dad chose to bring us here for a vacation: Once we met this William guy, and he talked me about this wonderful place. Didn't take long to convince me... But other than that, I like exercising, hmm, and dancing, and well doing almost everything a spoiled foxie of the city can do for fun, as long as it's clean."

Well, as for me, it went like with most of the pets, I imagine. I was separated by my family when I was a wee pup, and grew up in another town. I really don't have any memory ofmy family. You're lucky to have grown up with the rest of your litter. I guess you were the real packleader, eh?"

Roxanne sighed. "Actually, I was everything but the leader... I mean, my brothers always got more attention than me. Daddy was a sheepdog on a farm, and from an early age he took my brothers with him to the fields, while I was left to my own at home. Being the only girl in my litter left me sort of alone..." She swallowed a biscuit, then another. "I was 'the girl', and that label left me singled out. Don't get me wrong now, this doesn't mean that they treated me bad! Apart from the usual antics of pups, my brothers were alright."

Gian listened in silence to the others talk. He enjoyed hearing all the weird words they used that he'd never heard before until now. One in particular caught his attention though and he glanced over his shoulder before turning around and walking backwards. "Oi Roxanne... wha's sci-fi mean? Thats'o bit'o funny word, de elders never said it befor'..."

"Well, science-fiction of course!" Roxanne smiled, but then facepawlmed, realizing that Gian might not exactly know what science or technology was. "How should I explain this?" she scratched her head. "It's basically stories involving machines, that we aren't yet able to build, or futuristic settings that don't exist. It's similar to... well... Do you have stories here on the islands, about stuff that doesn't exist but you imagine it?"
