Rolling in the Deep (TBP Remix)
Best song ever.

Golden City
I just finished watching Tin Man when I created this one.

Only Girl (In The World) (TBP Remix)
It was a pain trying to find an acapella of this. I finally found a good enough one though.

It's not as terrible as you think it might be but it could be a little more dynamic. You are using a midi keyboard, right? It definitely sounds like one. It also has the tonality of a hammer striking sheet metal. It's probably because you set the midi velocity to 127 or you have no touch response. Does that keyboard even have touch response? It also sounds like the keyboard is clipping bass notes at high volumes. It also happens with my keyboard and especially with I use the sustain pedal. Am I being too rude? So far out of the posted music I have listened to, that is : Vanhalen.mp3, yayextended.mp3, 1310162524.anthroguy101_Warren.mp3 and 1306452227.anthroguy101_...and_so_it_begins.mp3 the last one, your keyboard one, is the only one with no digital clipping visible in the audio waveform. That would be those red lines or bars. it depends on how badly clipped the audio is in the waveform. Unless Audacity has a poor waveform interface, which if that is the case, then I am truly sorry. As for those first two listed, I believe a 5.1 surround sound mix would be really cool. there wouldn't be so much of a brick-wall waveform because you can divide the same amount of audio power across six channels instead of two. I say six channels because the sixth channel is the L.F.E.( low frequency effects) channel which would be able to handle those low bass frequencies that are prevalent in the tracks. If you think this is some sort of gimmick then you have to remember that less than a century ago, mono sound was the norm and stereo sound was the gimmick. The ping-pong stereo panning of early Beatles mixes and other recordings of that era comes to mind. Nowadays, if one of your speakers or headphone ears die ( most likely the headphones and the left channel one to boot) you get that annoying mono sound. Yes, it would bother me greatly if half of my headphones stared to crackle and die when listening to one of Zander's sonorous dance themes. I don't mean to plant a seed of jealousy with that statement. You shouldn't let anyone or anything stop you from making art whether it be in the form of words, pictures, or music or any combination of the three. Well, it's as the Young Mr. Grace says "You've all done very well" (starts to fall backwards) :D

Something I came up with recently with FL8.

It's my first time on the programme and I happened to come up with an idea while experimenting. A few audio peaking here and there, especially the bass, as I have no idea how to control the individual volumes and stuff.

Hope your ears don't get raped too much ^^''

Good show man, just pad it out with some background whatnot to fill a couple silences and throw some reverb and maybe compression on the whole project and it will really deepen it. Is FL8 the only version you can get? 10 is out and pretty dang robust compared to 8. I started with 7 and got the lifetime upgrade, but find I'm using Reaper mostly these days, in the rare moment I actually tinker with music anymore.

Also, I FINALLY got something uploaded, even if it is a bit old. This is also from Fruity Loops 8, all done on the keyboard with synths.

Oh wow, I love it. It's simple, yet it has that certain depth and serene feeling to it, which is what I'm aiming for actually, except that I combine the metal element too (hooray for 7 string guitars), with some electronic and dubstep inspired sounds as well.

I dunno like, what's a good site for FL tutorials? I'm currently familiar with some basics like piano roll (really really helpful for composing apart from abelton which I used in the past) and toggling some views and stuff, but need to know in depth topics like how do I layers as children, how do I apply effects etc..

Heheh, thanks. And I was listening to your piece and then it hit the guitar and I was like "Oooh yea! I saw some utoob vid of you going at it on the guitar!" Explains the name. :)

I don't know how relevant the current FLS10 tutorial vids are on Image-Line's site, but they might help:
http://www.youtube.com/user/imageline

Also, just doing a cursory search on utoob gave me the following:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=fl+studio+8

Generally, even with 8, you have so much patching, redirecting and mixing going on it is easy to get lost. You have your instruments producing the sound, then an FX channel they can talk to, where you can apply all sorts of junk and also spread the signal from there, having that FX channel feed to others or just to the main.

I'd usually tweak each instrument with their own unique fx, then apply general overall theme or mood fx to the master fx channel, and then find a clip limiter (which should come in the standard FX package) to keep your levels normal. You can also go heavy on the fx and try all sorts of stuff, and while it might sound crappy while it plays it live, when it goes to process the whole project it will take its time letting the fx process properly, and you can end up with something that sounds much different (better or worse) than you were hearing during live playback.

Good luck and I hope to hear more from you!

Hey tutorials! That's always nice. I got my hands on FL studios about two months ago, and it's been interesting to play with. And by interesting I mean running around like a chicken with its head cut off. I think I got the hang of it the basic stuff for the most part, but there's some really cool stuff on there that people can do that I'm still trying to wrap my head around.

Also, digging that little song you posted. I enjoy the minimalist build up you've got going there, just a little bit of new flavors added on as the song goes on.

As for something music relevant from me I finished a song today on FL studios that I've decided to call Good Things Come.

Hey Honorable!
Thanks for the comments, and yea, always nice to have some how-to vids even just to get a clue on how some of these sound programs and plugins work.

I'll admit, it took a bit for your tune to get going, but the title serves it well. Very nice work! Been inspired myself to work on music things and improved on something I had worked on before, but it still has a ways to go:

... So I come to raise this thread from the dead.

It's been dead longer than I've been on the forums.

No matter.
Waaaaay earlier in the year, a friend of mine showed me some of the songs he composed . All of them were ambient/ soundscape-esque.
One of them I found really interesting so I added a couple of parts.

The keyboards and everything else are his, I just added the stereo guitar parts.
For once, I'm extremely pleased with how it came out.

So here's a listen. I'm not credited because I thought of it more of a mutual gift.
