To be honest, when I first started roleplaying and was making character within the Mario Bros universe I unfortunately made the same kind of characters. Part of me wonders if I still do!

...it’s an intentional parody for the sake of being silly.

Re: How do you feel about Spot comics?
I think they're fun, but it's tough to talk about them on the forum because my specialization is speculation on what's going to happen next in the main plot. I just don't have a lot to say about each strip aside from "Heh, that was pretty good".
With the right community, getting into a webcomic at the beginning of a brand new arc can feel just as enjoyable and rewarding as being there from the beginning.

Re: How do you feel about Spot comics?
Sometimes that is all that needs to be said!
Re: How do you feel about Spot comics?
Whenever I see a Spot arc I just look at the last panel to see if that little "END" box is there. If it is then I know we'll finally be getting back to the ones worth reading.
I get that a break is needed after long story arcs, but I would rather have a week or two of no updates or a guest week or two than that Spot filler.

Huh, I always prefer Spot arcs to Guest Weeks, myself, and a week or two of nothing would be super sad
Re: How do you feel about Spot comics?
Again, I prefer Guest Week over Spot, but Spot's okay. A week or two of nothin', I agree, Obbl, would be a real drought. You might lose some readers doing that.

That's just my personal opinion. Now if Rick himself would have posted this looking for feedback or I thought he might even consider the opinion of a community member with a low single digit post count I wouldn't have worded it the way I did, just voted and gone on about my business. It's his comic, his site, he can run it any way he sees fit and I wouldn't want him to do anything to lose readers (can't tell you how many good comics I've seen fizzle out because of schedule disruptions), but since an opinion was asked and I knew mine carries no weight I decided to give it.NHWeston wrote: A week or two of nothin', I agree, Obbl, would be a real drought. Rick is often REALLY good about keeping a schedule and lets the readers know when he has a guest week coming up because he needs a break so he doesn't have to worry about losing them by not sticking to a schedule.

Re: How do you feel about Spot comics?
I dunno, I don't care about the characters the way I do with some of the comic's "mains", but give me any random sample of characters from anything I read or watch and I'll like some more than others.
The writing is just as good as anywhere else in the comic, and that's enough to keep me coming back. And it's good to have a spot (haha) for dedicated silliness.
It makes me look forward to the next arc, yeah, but so does every other one 'cause I like evolving stories. The same thing is what keeps me coming back to shows like Doctor Who. "Where we go next" is part of what makes this comic exciting.

I think considering just how many people like this comic for different reasons, everyone's going to have arcs they don't want. Just gotta wait it out.

I know that there was a few a while back who didn't like the King arc because he was overtaking how many appearances he had in comparison to Peanut and Grape.

Re: How do you feel about Spot comics?
I mean, I think after the Marion and Lois arc going for so long it would have been hard to go immediately back to Peanut and Grape's story. King's a bit more serious and we need to be eased back into that silliness.
Otherwise we'd have whiplash, and not the good kind. More like this kind:

Are you sure? From what I remember from the little "Rocky and Bullwinkle" shows I watched, I thought he was meant to be a villain?
