Crazy people are always funny! Also, you kind of have to call into question the whole concept of Pokemon. Trapping sentient beings inside small balls, enslaving them and forcing them into gladiatorial combat. It just seems a little more horrific that it is happening to Rainbow Dash for some reason. But, she can prove that she is the best in the arena as well as the skies.

Most people I've seen have already written this off as "been there, done that", what with Diamond Tiara and Gilda. I, however, see how this could be different. This bullying episode could end with the bully actually reforming. I don't think that's ever happened yet in the show, which... could have some unfortunate implications.

Also, a thought has occurred to me. Perhaps the lack of any great Applejack episodes is made up for by her having the most well-established family? I mean, we've never seen Fluttershy's or Dash's parents, I don't recall Twilight's parents having any lines, and Rarity's parents only appeared for one scene. In contrast to that, Applejack has her sister, her brother, Granny Smith, Sweet Apple Acres as a whole, cousin Braeburn over in Appleloosa, and soon, Babs Seed. Have I forgotten anypony?

That huge extended family that came for the reunion in the first episode. Or is that what you meant by Sweet Apple Acres?

I thought after she fell from Cloudsdale and no one came looking for her, the animals became Fluttershy's family. Poor Fluttershy, no search party for you.

The reason I'm not writing this one off as the same as Gilda and Diamond Tiara is because the bully is family in this episode which kind of makes the whole dynamic a bit different.

Season 4 all but confirmed in Investors Relation Documents this looks pretty definitive to me though I don't think anyone really doubted it was coming anyway. Also its appears that Meghan McCarthy said they were working on Season 4 in an interview on The Nerdist according to the comments.

Do any of you know specific places I could go to for "facts"? Like, how many men watch the show, or what awards it has gotten, stuff like that? I need five such specific resources. I know there's always wikipedia and EqD, but that's just two.

It might be a good source on making your argument, since it argues that myths and fairy tails have important lessons for modern men. Its a mix of psychology and literary analysis.

Other than that, a man can be very secure in his masculinity and still enjoy MLP. He does not have to hate it for not being typical masculine fair and to hide his insecurities. Anger often hides fear.

I can't recall whether I've shared my thoughts on King Sombra's voice here or not.

I've seen a picture pop up several times before which basically says that a face like his calls for a voice-over by Tim Curry, but personally I think a blend of Scar from Lion King and Vlad Masters from Danny Phantom would be more fitting. Tim's villainous roles always tend to be a bit more on the silly side of things--characters that you're not necessarily supposed to take entirely seriously. And I just don't get that feel from what we've seen and heard of Sombra so far.

I am a little worried about Twilight becoming an alicorn. These ponies do not react well to having power. Just look at what Fluttershy did with a little assertiveness training. It could turn out like this!

If Curry used his Darkness voice. KJOokami brings up a good point, most of his voice over roles as villains tend to be hammy.

Ehhh. I dunno. Maybe.

But in that movie, they dropped random sound-changing effects out the freaking wazoo. Vocal overlaps, pitch changes, and echos to just name a few. It was to the point where you could barely even hear his actual voice most of the time; they could've just as easily used just about anyone for that role and gotten a similar sounding voice. In my opinion, his natural voice just lends itself far better to more comical roles than I imagine Sombra's will be.

Also, just to clarify, I don't necessarily think that Scar or Vlad's voice by themselves would be all that fitting (I actually think Scar's voice would be pretty bad, to be honest), but just something in the general vicinity of those two.

Edit: Actually, now that I've finally been able to track down a working video of the DP episode with Vlad, I do think Martin could pull the role off.
