Not exactly. Since Orion hasn't had access to a mirror, he only has a limited idea of what he looks like, so he has a mental image of himself that is what gets depicted in the drawing.

On the other hand, he has seen other spider monsters, so he knows what he should look like... and he doesn't much like it at all. So he maintains that view of himself partly for his own sanity's sake.

Kumoko from the books does the same thing:

The cartoony looking one is how Kumoko thinks of herself, the thing behind her is what she really looks like.

As for the mug... I was taking inspiration more from the manga for that. Like with the drawing of Orion driving a tank, it's just something he's imagined to amuse himself.

The background of the drawing is accurate, since in the story he was too tired to build a proper swinging door, so he just webs it in place and calls it a night.

Yeah I can see why both Kumoko and Orion imagine themselves as the cuter spiders rather than what they really look like. Their ACTUAL forms are really very nightmare inducing.

Admittedly though for me, that picture of him now is something I WOULD consider nightmare inducing.

He does look a bit dismayed.

But his FACE! Its the type of face there that only a MOTHER could love when he looks like that. Change it back PLEASE. You are scarring the children.

Oh yeah I do remember ball pits. I thought they were fun. Would have liked to be in deeper ones though when I was younger.

So, Mother 2 is a Queen Taratect. I haven't seen her laying eggs, but I'm pretty sure she's been doing it long enough to have maxed out the skill, given just how many she lays in a single clutch. Judging by how egg laying speed increases with each level, I get a figure of one egg every two and a half seconds at level ten. That's fast enough to use as Expel ammo in an emergency.

I honestly didn't even notice and wouldn't have unless you pointed it out to me. But the picture still is lovely!

She looks so sad. I really do want to give her a hug. And I'm using female pronouns since she is in a female spider body and I will probably confuse myself.

When I get that way I usually need to take something that will help me but luckily I don't get like that very often!

They aren't prescribed meds though they are over-the-counter since it doesn't flare up very often.

Again, glad they help out. I've got friends with migraines and they span the pain spectrum from more-than-slight irritation to sheer agony.

Pretty sure I haven't had a migraine yet though at times it does feel like that.

Orion actually takes shrooms. They have a relaxing effect on spiders, without causing hallucinations. One of my readers looked it up for me.

Fascinating! ...... and the thought of spiders hallucinating is really disturbing so I'm glad they DON'T!
