had a bit of fun with roo via PM. enjoy.

i never had any intention of keeping the relationship between Wrath and Rua as ambiguous as the one between, say, Rig and Odin...
or Fenrir?... Baldur maybe? it started out clear, if vague, but kinda meandered as time went on so it's hard to tell what is and isn't a red herring there anymore.
Eenyhoo, planned to make that part of her back story clear from the start, but i find just sticking everything in the bio and never doing anything with it boring, and explaining it all up front clunky. much more fun to have the bio hint at there being pieces missing and reveal em through interactions.

So we have an avatar of wrath, a demonic manifestation of fear, and a little rabbit kit who looks up to the first, sees the other as a bit of a big brother, and has no idea what either pf them actually is. Sounds like a weird sitcom.

After talking with Neon, I decided to give Phoebe and Nightmare a new power. They have the ability to fuse with each other. Doing so connects Nightmare fully to the physical world, and thus increases it's power considerably. The cost for Nightmare is it can't move away from Phoebe. It can't hide in shadows, and Phoebe has ultimate control over their actions. It's less Nightmare possesses Phoebe and more like Phoebe wearing Nightmare like a sentient armor.

Fusing lets Nightmare speak through Phoebe. Phoebe and Nightmare fused (which I will call Phobia) have a variety of powers depending on how afraid Phoebe is, including strength, armor, speed, telekinesis, and demonic claws (the magnitude of the power depends on Phoebe's fear). Of course, Phoebe has no idea how to use these abilities.

...and as much as I want to turn this into a joke about her pantheon being equivalent to the 7 sins, ive written it out like four times and it doesn't work right, as she's the only one who's a direct analog. heck, there being seven of them at all is coincidence. it's actually 3 order (Law, Wisdom, Devotion), 3 chaos (Wrath, Madness, Treachery), and a "child" who's half-and half (Devotion and Wrath had a kid a few dozen millennia ago).

Also, I've been sticking to housepets conventions for ease of understanding, but a better term would be 'vessel' not 'avatar' (in terms of RP balance the end result is the same). this lot are from a different setting with different rules; she's not a mortal drafted as a game-piece by a higher being, there is no game, she's a creation of said being through whom mortality can be experienced and observed. Rua's soul is a literal piece of her patron deity, heavily constrained by the limits of being in a mortal shell, making her whats called a Herritor (the term is derived from "inherited soul").

I used the term avatar for simplicity's sake.

Law of trying to keep herself calm. She's had the initial shock and fear. Now she's trying to be calm. Especially as Phoebe is out-calming her(!)

Had to look it up, because I haven't watched any of the classics apparently, but yeah, sounds oddly fitting. Just throw in a fluctuating New York accent and it'd be a shoo-in.

Hlaoroo hasn't posted yet this turn, but mainly it's been the loop of me not having an idea for what to post, getting an idea and then forgetting to post.

So... with Buster having been MIA for over two weeks, that puts me in a tough position with Phoebe. It's not an exaggeration to say that Phoebe's character is dependent on Rua. Both in character as Rua is her guardian, and out of Character as Phoebe doesn't really have the ability to do anything without Rua.

If Buster doesn't come back, there's really only two things I can do to keep Phoebe in the game.

Either I autopilot Rua, which results in Phoebe being dependent on a character that doesn't have a player...

Or Rua vanishes, breaking Phoebe's dependence and forcing her to find another family.

The former option could severely limit Phoebe's playability ooc. The latter would utterly crush her already fragile spirits IC.

I don't know what I'm going to do going forward...

As for mine... Bonnie's owner could get an emergency transfer (temp/perm) to a different station and take her with him.

Great. Jake woke with a Kitsune staying at his place - who vanished and ended with a girlfriend - who's about to vanish...

Didn't realize Buster's been gone for so long, hmm. Welsh's idea to explain Bonnie away seems best, but Rua is a definite problem. The simplest plan would be to have someone temporarily take over Rua until a better transition for Phoebe appears, but Rua seems more complicated than, say, Noah was. Especially since Phoebe is so attached to Rua and Rua's connection with Jade Star makes her difficult to temporarily control without messing something up.

I'm open to suggestions and brainstorming for what to do with Rua, so we can try and get things rolling again, hopefully without utterly shattering a poor rabbits soul.

Only thing I can come up with is make it so Rua has to deal with an unexplained something, so Phoebe has to stay somewhere else with occasional Rua appearances to check up on Phoebe. I think that catches a nice middle ground of keeping Rua around to not break Phoebe while sorta pushing Phoebe out of her comfort zone a little. Just not sure how viable this idea would be in the long run.

That's the best solution I've heard of so far, but it seems like it would require a time skip to pull off.

As for who would take Phoebe, if none of our players do then Mr. Nice Officer Man might be able to do it.

Why not my not character, Leon? He's currently living alone and, so far, Phoebe is the only one that was never scared of him (save for the day they met but that was understandable).

It's been awhile, but I believe the original plans were to end the day off with the mall visit, but the mall has just taken a long while. It would probably be best to speed things up for a skip. So, if Hlaoroo or Welsh have anything to put into the current conversation with Leon now's the time to say it, so we can end the convo, and then have Rua take Phoebe home and we can play everything by ear from there the follow in game day I suppose.

We should probably make the next day a few days past the current one so there's a reasonable time for whatever we're going to use to explain Buster's characters' absence to happen.

I don't think Rua trusted Leon enough to leave Phoebe in his care.

It's not a good idea to put a traumatized child with a hyper-destructive fear demon with someone who's first impression was going on an angry and threatening rant about having worse trauma than hers.

From the looks of things, yeah. I suppose the exact amount of days don't really matter. I guess, unless there's anything specific someone thinks is needed, we can just post generally what happened over the skipped days ending with the beginning of a new day, any time now.

Really I think the only thing that needs deciding is how exactly to end the day, though it could just be "after minor conversation the pets were feeling tired and split up back to their homes." if we really just want to get on with it.

Kaylee and Jake are fine with a skip.

So should Phoebe stay with Amanda's family?

Also, I think that sounds fine for how to end the day. I'm just trying to decide how to start the next day. It depends on who takes care of Phoebe.
