Erm.......I guess I find that really strange, partially because of how a Squirrel's tail tends to stand up. I guess I am just not used to the idea or something, first I have heard of it though. I will probably just end up thinking of him as normal on my own thoughts. ^^;

I was a furry in denial for a while until I decided it was dumb to keep lying to myself so as to seem "normal." Now I'm an artist that's studying the anatomy of various animals in order to draw anthros much better!

As for species, I used to think I had more in common with mice, but decided that river otters were a much better fit.

I have thought about telling my friend about being a furry. I'm just not sure exactly how I should do it, or if I should do it at all. Anyone have any suggestions? Right now only a few people know, and those are people in my family.

I only learned about the bad stuff of... um... furrydom?, when I became one.
As far as things go, there isn't any more of that than in other things of the world.
It shouldn't be too hard to show that to your friend (I hope), I mean, look at
Housepets!, one very big example.

Something suttle like that might be the best thing you could do, but it depends on how your friend acts and how good of a friend. Some people will just accuse you of things or stereotype you the instant they hear that, even if they are friends. So if you think your friend would not jump to conclusions, follow what Mr. Iron Jaw said.

Not telling things usually leaves awkward, nervous gaps.
If that guy really is a true friend, then he shouldn't mind learning a thing or two.

I still haven't told anyone, I don't even let my roommate see me reading the comic.
I'm kind of hoping that one of my friends tells me they're a furry, because barring that I have no plans to share it with anyone.
Oh, and whoever ruined my day by posting that spider,
not cool
and I will end you.

I dunno why people make such a big deal about "telling" people they're a furry. It's like having to "tell" people you're a trekkie. It feels odd and unnecessary, and most people really don't care so long as you don't go around wearing Spock ears all the time.

Does it? My friends only recently found out I was a furry and there never was an awkward, nervous gap before that. By and large, most people don't care. They'll think you're weirder for treating it as a big confession than they will for being a furry.

If someone asks you if you're a furry, then I'd say go ahead and tell them, but there's no need to bring it up out of nowhere.

I'd rather not tell anyone, my parents do not know and such, just has come up once before for me. I will have to agree with Iron Jaw though in that you feel a bit better when you do not need to keep it secret, but it is safer a secret than anything.

A Trekkie is a Star Trek fan in the same sense a brony is a My Little Pony fan. And Spock is a Vulcan, a race from Star Trek that has pointy ears.

This, a million times this.
people will either
A) have an irrational reaction and think you're a freak
or
B) not care

so why tell anyone if it doesn't come up?

I told my parents once and they weren't very happy. They saw me looking at pictures of anthros and asked what I was doing and why, and I told them I was a furry. For some reason they didn't exactly like it. >.> They were all weird about it and didn't seen happy.
*giggles* Yes, I know, I'm a freak. I like anthropomorphic animals. I know none of you on here like them at all. :P
