Today I had some Hot Oat Wheat Cereal today, A.K.A Porridge. Never had that stuff since i was five and living with my granny.
It brought back nostalgic deliciousness. It's also sugarless, but adding a tiny of sugar gives it a flavor that will wake you up in the morning, especially with milk. without either of them though? It's still delicious
just wondered cause u made me hungry and i thought id mention some other breakfast grains.
cream of wheat with any kind of jelly/jam is the best. also cheesy grits. Yum
I have all of the above mentioned variations where I live and at one point of another I have heard them all called hash browns. Although my personal thought of hash browns is the picture that Pea posted that I'm too lazy to re-post here.
But now that I think about it, shouldn't this be in the food topic as we are not supposed to talk about things that already have a topic in the chat thread?
My rule of thumb is that after about a page on the Chat Thread about a topic that has its own thread, I redirect people. The rule is there to stop the Chat Thread from turning into an unnecessary duplicate, so it's alright if there's a handful of posts about something with its own thread.
You can move to the food thread if you want, though.
I was just wondering, because I think I was the one to start the food related talk with my question about pizza and having the sauce on top instead of on the bottom.
Just wanted to make sure that I wasn't breaking any rules.

Just a really random thing, would it be possible to make artificial biological tail of any animal sort and transport it to human? as an usage of opening fridge door when hands are full.
That sounds theoretically possible ... though not with our present technology. That would require some crazy genetic engineering and nerve grafting (if that's even a term, but still). Now, if you wanted a robotic tail, that might be a bit more attainable.

Somewhere over the next twenty years it may be possible to cultivate any tissue of the human body we want with iPS cells.
So at first methods to forcefully express the genes responsible for human developmental atavisms like a vestigial tail or, should that prove to be infeasible, throw other kinds of tissue together in a sort of tube via plastic surgery and graft that should be available. While the graft could be linked to the nervous and circulatory system, with this early techniques fine motor control to use handles is likely to be impossible.
In order to synthesize organs that can be used in that fashion genetic engineering has to advance a whole lot more than is currently predictable. 50 years? A hundred? More? No one can tell.

If we can't make humans naturally grow tails, chances are ones we can control would require using nerves from other limbs or things we can control, which would be weird but theoretically possible. And if we do manage to get humans to grow tails, they will not be cute, fluffy tails. They'll actually look pretty gross. I imagine it would not be hard to fit a fake tail of the species of your choice over it, and you'd have control over it. Honestly if I had a human tail I'd wear a fox tail over it constantly, except when I'm taking a shower. It's not like I don't wear a tail most of the time anyway. This way I could actually move my tail, and it would also hide my nasty human tail.

Why would they be fluffy? We're not a fluffy species. They may, theoretically, be covered in hair (like an arm or leg), but they may also be hairless. Also, they may cause difficulty purchasing clothing, sitting, balancing, etc.

If anything, a tail should help us balance. That's what a lot of tails help animals do, so why not us?
And who says we wouldn't be able to get humans to grow fluffy tails? If we ever get the technology to alter our bodies and grow a tail, why can't we alter our bodies to grow fur on the tail? While getting a tail wouldn't be something that I would do, if it ever gets to the point that we can, I'm sure that we would be able to do a lot more than just grow one.
Humans have big butts. Chuckle if you will, but that's how we balance without tails. I'm dead serious.
We have a lot of the genetic framework for tails, whereas fluffiness is a bit more of a stretch. Would it be that hard to wear a fake tail over your tail? It'd even let you customize the variety of tail. :3

It's true. We're just not built for tails. Adding one would throw off your natural balance and require quite an adjustment!

I can only imagine this being unbearably hot and sweaty.

If we were able to alter ourselves to grow tails naturally, I doubt it would be that hard to make it grow hair like our heads can.
also, if it were fully prehensile like a Monkey's tail, I'd want one. It could prove useful. and furry or not, useful is good.
and if it didn't have hair, it's likely that someone would immediately come out with a line of tail covers. and special chairs to fit the tails.

And pants.
Also, prehensile tail = yes. I'm already basically a monkey when it comes to climbing anyway. Having an extra limb for hanging, swinging, and other such things (not even counting actual practicality) would be unspeakably cool for me.
