I just figured out what was happening in his scene. I never knew whose butt Grape was touching until I really looked at this scene and realized it was Dallas all along.

Re: Things you finally noticed on rereading
I noticed some similarities between the arc where Grape and Maxwell first met Res and The Maxwell Thing. In both, a character is upset by teasing, and both involve Grape reading letters, with presumably forgiveness between Grape and Max.

Re: Things you finally noticed on rereading
Well the Dallas/Grape ship anyway, which is doubtful even if Satau definitely confirmed Grape at least isn’t against being a dog lover. Res’s ship started on the strip that revealed at one point in time Grape was “Princess Periwinkle”. I wonder if Max knows about that, our bravado boy needs a little blackmail he can hold mutually over her headD-Rock wrote:And that was when the shipping commenced.

That was what I was hoping he would know or find out also but its doubtful. Besides, if he tried to hold it over her head, I would imagine she would knock him into next week.

The backgrounds for A Few Of My Favorite Things, If You Love Something, Make Like Your Name, and Nants Ingonyama Bagithi Baba are all the same, give or take a shift by pixel. The stripes are in almost exactly the same horizontal position in the image regardless of what else is on top of it, including the horizontal shadow and the panel dividers. Even panel three of If You Love Something has the stripes in the same place despite the view being of a different angel.

Do we know if those particular coins were cursed? I mean Pete could have had several deposits of treasure but only the one in his little chamber could have been cursed. Those were being held for "a friend" so they were special.

Re: Things you finally noticed on rereading
Okay, I can't believe I've missed this for so long, but I've always wondered why in Housepets Fanfictions people tend to put Duchess and Terrance in the same household, as if they're siblings. I never understood why-
So I just noticed that Duchess's emblem on her collar is a pound sign, the main currency used throughout the UK. And Terrance we know is British because of his own collar emblem and the fact that he speaks with an English accent as shown in All The King's Men when he's described as having a "proper" accent.
So now it makes some sense that the two could be linked. They both have relation to the UK. So this also got me wondering... If this ends up being true, has Duchess been speaking with a British accent this ENTIRE TIME?
My world is kind of flipped upside down right now, gimme a sec to recuperate-

I don't really read the characters as using accents but even if I did know, I don't think I would be able to do it because I SUCK at accents.

this got me wondering if the dark gray dog and spotted dog sitting near rex are beta versions of lester and dalas.fenrirblack wrote:...loyalty and had a tendency of putting himself in the spotlight not to mention I think they secretly...
would that make this their unofficial first appearance?

Hm. Now that you mention it, it DOES look like it could actually be them.
Re: Things you finally noticed on rereading
Not sure if this is a rereading thing exactly, but did anyone later on realize that Daisy’s old catchphrase was likely related to a certain tomboyish princess with a flower motif?

Re: Things you finally noticed on rereading
Wait that’s a thing? That explains so much....
Re: Things you finally noticed on rereading
... well I kinda like that Daisy, so this is pleasant voice headcanon to have, much better than the actual canon of how Keene sounds. I’ve always imagined him having a bit more of a baritone or something, heck I think my mental idea was that Breel had a higher pitched voice than him, and that would be worse if it’s still trueD-Rock wrote:That was the entire intention, yes.
And for an actual rereading thing, it was interesting rereading one very short arc realizing the joke about the groundsquirrels basically being the same thing as chipmunks

not really something i "finally" noticed as i was snickering about pete seemingly enjoying the idea of being chained to a wall when i first read the trial arc. but now that he's mortal, part of me wonders if it's still true and what effect it'll have on his teen years. (not that we'd ever know given the comic's rating...)

I just realized that most humans have names that begin with J. Jill, Jeff, Jerry, Joel, and Julia. What was Mrs. Robinson’s first name, Joy? That would be ironic.

Not just humans. We've also got Jack and Joey. Joey's owner, by the way, is called Jake.fenrirblack wrote:I just realized that most humans have names that begin with J. Jill, Jeff, Jerry, Joel, and Julia. What was Mrs. Robinson’s first name, Joy? That would be ironic.

Rick must have noticed it and latched on to it for a bit but it looks like he is stopping it since there haven't been any humans in a while and out of the three that we know of, only one is a J name.

Re: Things you finally noticed on rereading
Not sure if this was already pointed out or not, but the strip "Emphasis On The H"(Here) doesn't have any character tags. It also apparently doesn't have any alt text...? Despite the comics around it having both of the things it's missing. Not sure why this is.
Also, even though I brought up Duchess potentially being British before, it did raise suspicions to me on who else in the neighbourhood could be international. Using character last names I got Tiger, Marvin or both potentially being German. If not either, then Jerry, at least in descent. There's also Kevin potentially being French with his last name. So, if anyone wanted another way to interpret these characters' speech, here's some ideas.

Its kind of hard for me to see anybody else as being from a different country and if they were Rick would have stylized their speech so it had an accent especially if the characters were French and German. Tiger and Marvin's last names don't mean anything either. Tiger is a parody on Garfield and Jerry Arbelt is a parody of John Arbuckle.
Not trying to rain on your parade when I say this. Just pointing out some facts. Also, I would NEVER be able to imagine Kevin with a French accent. XD

Re: Things you finally noticed on rereading
In my defence, Terrance is a character with a non-American accent canonically and doesn't speak any differently than the other characters (at least in text)Amazee Dayzee wrote:Its kind of hard for me to see anybody else as being from a different country and if they were Rick would have stylized their speech so it had an accent especially if the characters were French and German. Also, I forgot that my only actual tie to Tiger and Marvin's last names being German was that it's really close to Arlelt, which is actually just the last name of a character in an anime based in Germany. I'll just say it so nobody else has to. OOF.
Weak point on my part there, but French Kevin still stands!
