Not the Comic.... But other comics

Post by BeyondUshuaia »

I figured It'd be cool to see what other people are reading and whatnot, considering its tough to find some comics you like on the internet sometimes. I'll kick it off with the ones I read on a regular basis.

Girl Genius - Phil & Kaja Foglio
Sam and Fuzzy - Sam Logan
Thunderstruck - Grayson Towler
Plush and Blood - Corey Messer
Three Panel Soul - Ian McConville & Matt Boyd
Broken Plot Device - Lis Boriss
Sequential Art - Phillip Jackson
Least I Could Do - Ryan Sohmer & Lar deSouza
Applegeeks 3.0 - Mohammad Haque
Twokinds - Tom Fischbach

There's some others but they either don't update regularly or I don't check regularly.

Oh yeah, and our favorite, Housepets! by Rick Griffin.

VG Cats
Lackadaisy Cats

F@nboy$
Codename: Hunter
Awkward Zombie

These are the comics I check regularly, but there's a couple others that I rarely check and catch-up on. Btw I recommend all of these, good stuff :)

Dan & Mab's Furry Adventures (This is the most intensely furry comic I read. The rest would be considered 'less furry', hahaha.)
Charby The Vampirate
Inhuman
Sandra & Woo
Gunnerkrigg Court
Lackadaisy
One Swoop Fell
And of course Housepets.

That's just the comics I read 'right now', and yes, I've edited this so hush.
I was going to make a joke but then I did.

Oh god a koala is grunting its mating call and it's making me squeamish for some reason. Probably because there are so many kids around. Ew. pedogogue.

Noticed that TwoKinds, VGCats, Awkward Zombie, and Least I Could Do are the only ones reported more than once as being followed by members. o:

Housepets aside. I'm pretty sure we all read Housepets here.

I used to draw with cartoon like characters. I slowly improved over time and made them more realistic.

Yeah, I guess you could say often. I have more. Maybe I should open a thread for my art. I might.

Right now I am very busy working on a christmas gift for Amanda though so I won't be posting very much art.

yeah... improvement..... nooo its just how i like to draw... i like to stay cartoonish and i enjoy it... see when you start to get where you are in that pic i start to hate it cause there is just too much for me cause i always think of cartoons and then you gotta start shading and having like wrinkles in clothing which i just cant stand doin... i just dont have the attention span to do it.... sooo i stay wif cartoons

So who wants to know what other webcomics the writer of Housepets reads!

Starslip Crisis, chainsawsuit, and Fchords, all by Kris Straub, because he is a rather awesome writer. I followed Checkerboard Nightmare as well when it was the thing.
Penny Arcade
xkcd
PVP
Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal
Wondermark
Order of the Stick and Erfworld
Three Panel Soul
Tales of the Questor and other comics by RH Junior
Sequential Art
The Whiteboard
Jack
The Adventures of Dr. McNinja
VG Cats
Skin Horse
Breakfast of the Gods (almost complete)
Real Life

Not Comics but Relevant
Homestar Runner (awesome webtoon)
The Comics Curmudgeon (awesome blog)
Webcomics Weekly (awesome podcast)
My deviantArt page

I either read or have at one point read all but two of those comics. Wow.

Anyway, in addition to that already ridiculous list I had up there, I'm now also reading Abian and Welcome to Pixelton, and I'm really starting to wonder whether I ought to pursue interests other than reading lots of webcomics.

I kinda peek at Girl Genius from time to time. I've been a fan of Phil and Kaja's work since the early days of Magic the Gathering and even have an Antequities set Energy Flux card autographed by Kaja. I wish they did more art for that game, heh.

Okay. Update to my list. Since writing my list I've started reading some more comics, so here's a list of new additions:

Drawing Under the Influences (DUI, lulz.)
TwoKinds (yes. I've been infected.)
Wrongside (I actually used to read this, but lost the link)
Inhuman (this too. Also used to be a friend of the artist, but haven't spoken in actual years)

Link to inhuman because it's freaking awesome enough to deserve one: http://inhuman-comic.com/index.php
Mmmmmantipsychotics.

Feb 2010 edit: Wow, I don't read the first two of those anymore.

I'm gonna recommend Dandy & Company, and not just because I designed the website, but because I think it's a muffins and cookies fine comic that doesn't get the attention it deserves. I can't say what I find attractive about certain webcomics... besides growing up on Calvin & Hobbes, and nobody here can deny that Housepets borrows vigorously from Watterson's whimsy. D&C does too.

Also, at the risk of sounding like a complete butt-kisser here... I've got to tell ya, Rick, your taste in comics explain a lot about why I've taken a liking to Housepets' humor.

There's a buncha comics I read... I'll start out with the furry comics, and try not to say those which have been stated already.

Furthia High

Drawing-Under-the-Influences

Fur-Piled

At The Heart of It All

Hey Fox

Fletcher Apts.

GoNE 2 TeH DoGS -- (this one appears to be dead)

Verity's Ark

Avoid Spikes

Jay and Fox (or Valkyrk, not really clear...)

Sabrecat

... there's more but I don't feel like typing them out so go here (contains links to the sites listed above --except the last three--)and also here for complete lists.

The last 3 have links because they aren't on the other pages.
sal·va·tion (sal-ˈvā-shən) n

1 a: deliverance from the power and effects of sin b: the agent or means that effects salvation

2. Comic set in a city with said name somewhere in the southeastern United States

Penny Arcade
The Katbox (Las Lindas, Carribean Blue, The Eye of Ramalach, and Things will be Different)
Housepets! (duh)
VG Cats (If Scott EVER updates)
Two Kinds
Explosm (Cyanide and Happiness)
XKCD for geekyness
And, while not updated anymore, Concerned: The Half-life and Death of Gordon Frohman

Frankly, I don't think I read enough webcomics and I'm always on the prowl for more.
Pfft, and they said I couldn't toast breakfast cereal. Now look who's laughing!

Most of the web comics I read... have already been listed here. I read A LOT, particuarly those well known, so there's no reason to list them over again. Instead I'll just post about the comics that aren't overly popular, but still favorites of mine.

First there's Rice Boy, and Order of tales. Both by Evan Dham. Both are bizzar romps through the fantastic original world that is Over-side. If you're looking for something different.. I'd give them both a read pronto. Riceboy came to its conclusion a few months ago, so you're free to read the entire story (and I honestly suggest reading it first). Order of tales, a more serious story in the same universe, is still going strong, and updated every weekend in chunks. T.O.E is just awesome.

The second comic of note? Dumnestor's Heroes a rather good 'D&D adventure' comic that is sadly stuck on a rather poor site. If you can get past the web design though it's a good read. More traditional then Riceboy it's mostly just a small group of heroes on a quest... of sorts, traveling through a traditional but still well through out world. I wouldn't call it TOO traditional though. The Dwarf is an accountant... and the one elf in the party is... haha well I think I'll let you find that out on your own.

Hmm not much time to over think this post right now haha. Perhaps I'll edit in a few more later?
