Title Text: Hello darkness my old friend
I've come to stalk in you again
Because a cougar softly creeping
Is the reason I am sneaking
It was at this moment that Gale knew, she done goofed.
Also, big fan of the Disturbed cover of that song.

Oh snap, again. Poncho just got 100 times more interesting. Hooray for character development.
So it begins. The final showdown. Poncho vs. Gale. North Star vs Pueblo I guess.
Brain vs. Brawn. Suddenly cool vs. ferocious fury. Wolf vs. Cat I guess.

{GASP!} Poncho is.... NAKED?
As Rick rhymes in the evening
Gale stalks the flapping Poncho
We see the plan backfires on her
and know the smartest Wolf is on show.
The hunt is shaded from our sight
and all we see is the silhouette;
but now the advantage is Wolven
and staying quiet is Pueblo’s best bet.
He may have to save his mom now,
he’s her secret in the night.
The battle of the brains is on now;
this could be quite the fun fight.

Re: 2018/08/12 - Fair Play
Wait, I have some questions.
1. When did he have time to make that thing if Gale’s been watching them the whole time?
2. Did they know she was stalking them or did they just know that there was something but didn’t know who or what it was?
3. If don’t they defeat Gale in ten minutes they go running to Miles for help?
4. When did Poncho become so cool?
5. If Poncho wanted a mate then why was he so reluctant to join the camping trip? He complained about there only being humans and dogs but still didn’t want to return the wild. Where else was he going to find a mate?
6. Why is Gale still trying to capture the wolves when she clearly has weakened the pack enough that she has the advantage now? She should have stopped while she was ahead.
7. Where is Pueblo?

For #6; perhaps she does not feel she has weakened the pack enough yet. At the time where she starts stalking Poncho and Northstar, we know that there are still 4 wolves in the area (Poncho, Northstar, Miles, and Lucretia). If it is her and Peublo vs the wolves, they still have her out numbered. If she can pick off Northstar and Poncho though, then she is on a much more level playing field when it comes time to confront Miles and Lucretia.fenrirblack wrote:Wait, I have some questions.

I was expecting that there's something more for them, and it's the real trap. Apparently, Poncho fell in this trap, but there's something weird... What Gale is touching is his poncho? He remained naked, then. So, the wolves tricked the cougar... I guess that the full moon in the sky gave more smart energy to the wolves. What's going to happen to Gale, now?

I've come to stalk in you again
Because a cougar softly creeping
Is the reason I am sneaking
And the fear that planted in my brain
By Miles
Within the sound of defiance
In the darkest night I walked alone
Narrow paths of wood and stone
‘Neath the moonlit peace of camp
My fur turned cold and damp
When my eyes were slashed by the flash of
Shining claws
That shot through the night
And faced the sound of defiance
And in the hallowed light I saw
Ten thousand trees, maybe more
Leaves rustling without speaking
My ears perked without listening
Howling sounds with voices they never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of defiance
Fools, it said, you do not know
Silence of the cougar grows
Hear my words that I might eat you
Take you in my arms that I might capture you
By my words, like silent tears fell
And echoed in the walls of the cell
And the wolves howled and cried
To Miles who made them come
And the eyes flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the wolf said, the words of the hunter
Are written on beasts that fall
And darkest calls
And whispered in the sounds of defiance

I'm looking forward to see what Poncho and Northstar's plan is now. They tricked Gale, showed her they're smarter then she thought and shook her off their trail, but what does that do for them? Poncho sacrificed his poncho for this deception so I'd assume they have a more foolproof plan than hope Gale buckles like Spot (Superdog). Leading up to this the deal had been wolfs have strength in numbers, but a cougar could take one or two wolfs at a time. Getting led to a fake Poncho doesn't give Gale enough of a disadvantage for Poncho and NS to want a direct confrontation. They can't free the other wolfs without knowing where the pit is and going to Lucretia and Miles for help goes agains the learnin' experience aspect (unless there's a bit where miles says "The howl, I didn't think Gale would be here, I didn't want to scare my family into submission that much"). In the final panel though, they are still close enough that it's unlikely they attempted either. The only thing I can think of is they used the time Gale was stalking shrubbery to subdue Pueblo and are going to trade him for the release of the pack. This is a bit meta, but I don't that is their plan either because I don't think the "good guys" would capture a child for a hostage negotiation.

Who ever said they were the good guys? Miles is out there to teach them how the wild works. No good guys, no bad guys, just those who eat and those who get eaten.Champion Wallace wrote:I'm looking forward to see what Poncho and Northstar's plan is now. Now I don't think they want to eat either cougar, but you take one of ours and we take one of yours is an old trope and I'm betting Gale would trade all the captured wolves for one Pueblo. It is not evil, it is tactics. Besides, by now there has to be enough of the pack in the pit to ladder even fat Darryl out to freedom.
And I still want to know where KIng and Bailey are.

Re: 2018/08/12 - Fair Play
They are the good guys because we perceive them as the good guys. Plus this isn't a game of who eats who. Gale is kidnapping the wolves for the sole reason they were trespassing on what she believes is her territory and because they have history between them. In the wild a cougar would just kill the wolves not throw them in a pit. We as a society perceive Gales actions as "evil" or "bad" because that is what we were told. She is acting out of her own petty desire and not because of the natural order.TeflonCougar wrote:Who ever said they were the good guys? Miles is out there to teach them how the wild works. Hadn't noticed Poncho's body scar - figure he got it in the same scrap that earned Gale that facial slash?
Territory and territorial disputes are pretty much a major feature of conflict in the natural order. The human order, too.
