Peanut the consoling. I wonder how many times he got it wrong?

Every cat deserves their moment,
their path to stand, cloaked in glory;
whether it impresses others, though?
Well, that’s another, longer, story.
Her brother has tried to console,
offering faint words of hope
when, who should appear before her
but her favourite little Grey dope?
He’s exited the fallen temple
with a scene from a book not his.
It is kinda appropriate, though,
to end with a quote from the best in the Biz.

Great LOTR reference and an expected response from Grape. She will come after you if you try to fade and go to the north. Better stay and explain what happened.

Grape solves yet another problem with violence. I wonder what the events of the last strip looked like to the gang outside of the temple rubble. Did they see Res lift the stone only to then disappear without a trace? Since Res is alone here does that mean Keene and Breel stayed in the bed? Perhaps finishing the kissing session from Pandemonium?

I'm guessing Res just walked from the mansion to the temple ruins to let Grape and company know that he was alright, after all, the mansion is like a hundred feet away. (PS. I'm guessing that Keene and Breel stayed to finish)

Hate to break it to you, Res, but you're still grey. :U

I wonder if the end of this story will be Res heading back up north, feeling all sorts of inspired, sitting down at the computer, and then finding he still can't write anything...

Nice couple of quotes there from LOTR, and a very in-character response from Grape.

Speaking of character... I have to wonder what this whole adventure will do for Res' self-confidence. He's proved to himself that he can be brave, that he doesn't always put his foot in it when interacting with others. Might send him in some interesting new directions in relations with Grape, with his mom, even as an author. Will he finally 'come out' as the real writer, the pet able to stand on his own financially in the world? So many tantalising possibilities there!

(Edit, reading jonas' response: please not that, it would be far too cruel for my favourite cat!)

If you sacrifice yourself in a dungeon so your friends can escape, only to end up surviving and escaping as well, you are legally obligated to quote Gandalf. It's in the rules.

Nice of Grape to welcome Res back to reality with a humility-restoring whack. Now, get back to that dad-blagged typewriter, stripes, pump out some Pridelands!

And always touching to be reminded of the heart bonds between Grape and Peanut. Over 100 wonderful characters later, their loving, loopy friendship is still for me the core of the Babylon Gardens universe.

Aww, poor Grape, she loves Res (maybe he's her lover? :o). She doesn't do the same again with Maxwell. :| Precisely, you were "Res the fluffy striped grey". :P :D Uhm, so, Res returned in the woods where there was the temple? From a white light? Yeah, that's her typical reaction.

We have a longhaired tabby that has exactly before-Res's hangdog expression.

Well, Res, so much for personal transformation, eh? Puttin' on airs doesn't get you anywhere with Grape as your ancestor, Ptah, coulda told you. So, back in the animal travel cage and the authentic staff of Gandolfine authority goes into the luggage compartment. Still, next issue of Pridelands oughta be real out there!!

actually, to me Res already looks stronger than the average cat, maybe cause he's a tabby.

Also, like Gandalf, he just defeated a magma demon (kinda like the Balrog!) can't wait to see where this epilogue leads, and we have so many scenarios open for the future...

oh cod, he actually changed the title *_*

For the people viewing this years from now, the comic was originally posted with the title "The White Rider", but within a day Rick changed the title to "The White Writer" because a forumite suggested it and Rick couldn't resist the pun. The only other time Rick has retconed something like this that I know of is Res's tag was green in his first appearance but he changed it to yellow because people were joking it signified Res liked catnip too much.
