He sniffed it. It smelled of nothing and he remembered you weren't supposed to eat the wrap forcefield around the food and pulled it open and sniffed again. It smelled of Strawberries. The little red things he'd seen in other plastic things. It was something prey ate, wasn't it? But he'd had a few since he'd gotten here and it hadn't killed him. It had only tasted of wetness but it hadn't hurt him so he cautiously took a bite. Doctor Rika was right. It wasn't very nice. But it didn't taste as though it would kill him and at least it wasn't spiced! "Thank... Thank you," he said before looking slyly at Kolt. "I think that's how you say that?"

Welsh Halfwit wrote:"And I apologise again for my humour earlier, sir," the Prime Minister announced, holding out a hand. "I was on the way here to seek a 'first contact' situation with our visitor. That has not changed but I think we would be better suited to do it under the auspices of an official reception, yes?"
"Don't be sorry for it, sir. It was a funny joke. It was also true however, that talking to what looks like an over sized beetle can't be good for publicity, even when said beetle is a piece of military-grade hardware inhabited by the mind of an extraterrestrial superpower." What was left of the security droid's face lifted into a broken smile. "While I understand the want for an official first contact, Talya and Kobor are not here at the moment. The Lycan has them hidden. I can try contacting them for you though."

>Talya, the Prime Minister is here.
>He hopes to establish first contact.
>Is this acceptable?
>I believe it only requires one of you. The other can stay and watch 'Junior.'

"I was more thinking of... this evening," the Prime Minister mentioned. "at the city hall? a buffet sort of thing for those who eat and talk for those who do not. I already have the forming of ideas for the replacement of our ship, for example, as well as how, together, we can help the research department of Nassau Uni."

Rika nodded at Jaken as she chewed through her first bite of her own bar. "You're welcome Jaken." She said to him after swallowing. "You know a lot of english for someone so young. Was it your parents that taught you? ..Or did you pick it up from being here?" She paused between sentences, unsure if the mention of parents would upset him. He did mention something about his father earlier..

"Oh, um..." Jaken replied, a bit unsure of what to say. "Father thought it smart to learn language of Commerce of a few races. Some humans on Celica. So it helped? Translate patch helps too." He pushed apart some of his neck fur to show a small scar. "Placed under skin by specialist and it helps form words. Expensive but father didn't have to pay." Jaken looked sad again. "He was specialist," he added at a lower volume.

”Thank you.” Kolt said, relieved to finally know something about the weird man in front of him. ”Seriously, I can’t stand being deliberately denied information. It drives me absolutely insane, and may or may not be why I am officially banned from visiting any Anjun government facilities.” He looked a bit sheepish after saying that last sentence, suddenly realizing that’s not the sort of thing you reveal to a group of technically strangers. Best to act like that never happened. ”Anyways, I’ve been meaning to ask, what’s the deal with the kid? He looks almost like a Concertian, but his leg structure is more in line with that of a humans.”

a click comes from somewhere in Talya.

hearing a faint modulated buzzcoming from the earpiece built into the helmet, Kol's eyes widen slightly before grabbing it and slipping it on, sure enough there's a live translation of Kolt and the old man playing.

"It's always nice to meet someone so consistently polite and grateful." The old man said to Kolt with a smile, but also with a subtle hint of sarcasm in his voice. He turned to Ulrich. "Oh? And who is it you think I am?"

-----------------------------

>Nevermind, Talya. The first contact will be a formal event at the city hall, with all sorts of formalities.
>I'm going to go. There are things I need to discuss with the Prime Minister.
>I suggest you go as well, as it can show that you are with us and non-hostile, but I won't make you if you don't want to.

"That sounds excellent. I would love to attend. It's only polite to ask if the rest of my team welcome?"
The hive droid asked.

-----------------------------

"Oh, that could be fun. I'll go if I'm invited." He then decided to ask about what he had been worrying himself over, but didn't show it. "Hivemind, is Tepest...?"
>Tempest is fine. Rika's medication worked very effectively.
"Oh, good." The Lycan let out a sigh of relief.

"I'm from Celica," Jaken announced proudly before frowning up at Kolt. "Why would I play an instrument in a large band?"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Well, may we never hide secrets from you, Kolt," Jenny remarked, allowing a smile to split her lips. "'Coz finding them would get you into more trouble. And Concertian's probably his race, kid."
"Oh," Jaken said, looking him over and sniffing. "Didn't think he was musical. Jaken," he said, offering a handpaw to Kolt.

"Excellent." He let out a static-filled chuckle. "Though in that case, you might want to make sure there is plenty of extra food, or The Lycan, Tempest, and Kitsune will eat it all. And 8 o'clock is fine."

Kolt took the kid’s hand and gently shook it. ”Kolt. Just an FYI, I’m Concertian because I’m from the planet Concertia. I doubt my musical skills are good enough to be part of a concert.” Kolt joked, ignoring Quint joking about how much he practiced singing in the shower. ”Anyways, do you have any idea what Hivemind wants us to do aside from standing around? Because if he doesn’t either give us something to do or let us go to that water park, I’m pulling out that Aegis system I found in my room and trying out this Pokémon thing I heard one of the doctors mention while I was in quarantine.”

The old man leaned on his ornate cane and rubbed his santa-beard. "Hmm... And interesting guess. I suppose, since I speak of Diligitis and it's nature, I could be considered a bit of a 'priest' though I've never claimed that title. And I suppose anyone who acts on behalf of the aspect could be considered an 'avatar.'" He turned his head around and faced the sun. "Anyway, I think it's about time I left." He began to emit a soft glow that surrounded him in a gentle light. "Before I go however..." He walked up to Jaken. Kneeling down and facing up at the youth, he spoke in the Celician language. <You do not have to be afraid, Jaken. The hunters will not get you now. You are safe with these people. They will protect you and help you learn. They will stop all who try to harm you.> With that, the gentle light engulfed the old blind man. When it faded away, he was gone.

Hivemind messaged Talya before turning back to the group. When he walked back into the dome, he spoke to the group. "All right, everyone. We've been invited to a sort of event tonight at 8 PM by the Prime Minister. He wishes to get to know us and speak with us in a more formal setting than on the deck of a warship in the middle of a battle. There will be lots of food and people to talk to. I will be discussing business with the Prime Minister, but I'm sure there will be plenty of conversations going on you can engage with. I won't make you go if you don't want to, but the option is there. Now..." He looked around, and noticed the old man was gone. "Wait... where did he...?" He shook his broken head. Pieces of armor and oil were flung off. "Nevermind. I'm sure we will be seeing him again. Anyway, you are free to go to the water park. We can't leave orbit until tomorrow, so you might as well stay here if it's all right with Luke." He turned to Gear on that last bit.

Luke shrugged. "Fine by me. Tha' water park is pretty fun. Never been myself. Obvious reasons. I ain't waterproof. But it's one a' the more popular attractions. There's a store at the entrance sellin' swim-gear. Feel free to grab some on me. When ya get tired, I'll give ya some room keys for the VIP suites." He said.

"All right then. I don't have anything else to say for now. We can discuss the fight later. Right now, you all deserve rest."

FINALLY!! Kolt exclaimed, suddenly shifting from mild annoyance to infectious excitement. ”I saw some of the slides on our walk here. They have this one tube ride that starts at the top of this 120 foot tower, and another one that’s only half that, but it’s a near. Vertical. Drop.” He said, his smile reaching the sides of his face. It somehow got even wider when Lycan mentioned needing to get them swimsuits. ”Not me. I came prepared.” He pressed a few buttons on his suit’s gauntlet, then watched the others reactions as the suit began to disassemble itself in front of them. After about thirty seconds of the suit receding into itself, all that was left on Kolt’s body was a swim suit, and a watch where the gauntlet used to be. ”My old team leader Mythos made this as a little going away gift when I joined the Champions. He said it was the first in what he hoped to be a line of ‘self assembling nanofiber super suits,’ whatever that means.”

"he looks the same age as a few of my grandchildren... no one that young should be out on the surface alone..." kol mutters to herself before lowering down to put herself at eye level with Jaken.

unclipping the right bracer and glove of her suit she takes them off and takes Jaken's forearm in her hand, and placing her own against his as best she can without the pose being awkward, before bowing slightly. it's not exactly easy to do right since jaken's 2/5 her height and her paw alone is the size of his forearm.

a few things jaken might notice though, without the glove her fur is actually quite soft and thick, as well as ice cold. It's also a purplish gray color, though he'd be close enough to see that's a result of lilac colored hairs mixing about 60/40 with slightly off white ones.

"Hello Jaken, I am Kol. It is nice to meet you." she says, trying to come across as friendly as one can when they're wearing armor and carrying multiple weapons.

"Not a hunter," Jaken decided, thinking on what Kol could be. Big, thick, hard.... "Digger?" Then he heard Rika talk of his smell. "Is my natural scent," he protested before sniffing himself. "OK, is a bit strong," he admitted.

Kolt laughed at Jenny’s statement. ”Yeah, things never go how you expect the way you expect them to. If you told me a week ago that I’d be using this things swimsuit mode before something like it’s hazmat or deep sea modes, I’d ask if you’d been hit in the head.” He said before holding his arm out, indicating that he wanted to carry her to the water park. As soon as she was pressed close enough to him for his power to count them as one object, he lifted off, carrying the two of them to the resort in the distance. ”So um, what ride do you want to go on first? I’m really looking forward to that near vertical drop slide, but I also wouldn’t mind trying out their lazy river.”

"Oh, I don't mind," Jenny replied, laughing as they sped for the resort. "Perhaps the rapids? Oh, yeah," she added, "I promised you something, didn't I?" She gave him a kiss on the side of the muzzle.

Ulrich waved as the old hobo wizard disappeared. "He was nice," he said once he was gone. He turned to Hivemind, "I need to buy a suit and see if Rika can do something about this," he lifted his hands up. "I guess I will see you at the feast.'" He gave Hive a smile before turning to Rika and asking if she had anything that could speed up the healing process a bit more than burn cream.

Kissing Kolt while he was focused on flying might not have been the smartest thing Jenny could’ve done at that moment, as his brain short circuited for a moment, and the two of them started falling for a moment before he recovered and caught them. ”Okay, time out for a moment.” He said, looking rather baffled at what just happened. ”What exactly does kissing mean in your culture? Because in mine it means you want to start a rather serious relationship together. Typically one that results in you and your partner retiring together fifty years later in a Spinon lake house. It’s not something you usually do to someone you just met the night before.”

Welsh Halfwit wrote:"Not a hunter," Jaken decided, thinking on what Kol could be. Big, thick, hard.... "Digger?" Then he heard Rika talk of his smell. "Is my natural scent," he protested before sniffing himself. "OK, is a bit strong," he admitted.
Rika sighed and rolled her eyes. She forgot children weren't the best at being quiet.. "Yes, very strong. I think you'll clean up just fine, though.." She said, ruffling his headfur.
Welsh Halfwit wrote:"They're gonna get there first," Jaken complained, looking as the pair vanished towards the horizon.
"Hm, they sure are. If only we had someone who could just pop us over there in a couple steps.." Rika started sarcastically. Thinking that Jaken wouldn't get it, she nudged him. "That's your cue to open up a portal to the park. If it's too far, just do it in short hops. I wouldn't want you to strain yourself.." She added, pointing towards the waterpark's slide towers.

Jenny coughed. "Well, uh," she started, "for... for mine it's a sign of affection, yeah?" She thought for a moment. "Although, if you're talking over fifty years? Might be a start, long term?"

Randy let go of her. "Sorry..."
After catching her breath, Morgan gave Randy a reassuring kiss on the cheek. "You're cute when your worried, but I am a lot tougher than I look, you know."

Rika nodded, putting a foot through the portal. "Good, Onward to-"

She was cut off by Hivemind speaking aloud.
CyberDragon wrote:"Oh! Ulrich! Your hands are burned! You were so casual about your injuries I forgot about them." The hive droid turned to Rika before she went through the portal. "Rika, before you go, could you give Ulrich something for his burns?"
Rika turned. "Oh, uh, sure.." She replied, taking her foot out the portal and stepping toward Ulrich. "Keep it open Jaken, this won't take long."

As she reached Ulrich, she took his hands and checked them over. "Hm, mostly second-degree burns. I'll need you to take off your gauntlets.. How did this happen, did you punch a electrical unit or something?" She asked, not knowing how close she was to being right. "Anyway, I can easily take care of that.." She takes out a pod that she opened earlier and picks out some slightly off-looking bandages whilst Ulrich takes off his gauntlets. "Right, I just wrap these around your hands.." She gently wraps the bandages around the effected areas. "..And you should feel a tingling sensation. Once it's gone, the bandages should fall off and your hands should be healed." As she said it, a tingling sensation crept around Ulrich's hands until it suddenly stopped and the bandages fell off to the ground. Ulrich's hands no longer had any scars, almost like they were brand new. "And voilà! Simple and effective." She finished, picking up the bandage pieces from the floor and putting them back in the pod. "If that's all, I'm off to the water-park.."

With that, she headed back over to Jaken's portal. "Right. Onward, to the water-park!" She said triumphantly, pointing towards the water-park with an outstretched arm.

Seems that Rika's trying to get into the spirit of having some fun..

”A-are you suggesting we make this a date?” Kolt asked as he started flying towards the resort again, albeit at a slow pace than before. He was quiet for a moment as he thought about what Jenny was suggesting, eventually speaking up again after a minute or so. ”You know, back on Concertia, there’s this unspoken rules amongst Capes. It doesn’t matter who you are, it doesn’t matter what side you’re on, if you go after another Cape through their loved ones, everyone else teams up to wipe you off the face of the planet. Still, there are enough wackjobs and idiots out there willing to risk that that I never felt comfortable getting together with someone.” He turned to look at the rat flying next to him, a faint smile resting across his face. ”Something tells me though that you’re good enough at taking care of yourself for that to not be an issue.”

"Yeah, I've been fine on my own," Jenny admitted, "but a team's not so bad. On my own I've sometimes had to find those who would fight alongside me. Being part of a team means not having to look." She gave him a warm smile. "And let's call it a 'preemptive date assessment', yeah? Although I can think of a lot worse things than dating a handsome guy like you."

As the others headed off, Kol turned to the few remaining, and asked, "what's a park, and why do they need to go there to get water when we're literally surrounded by it?"

Kobor has dumped the canon in the sand near Talya, and is currently just floating in the water nearby, proving quite soundly, that yes, cephalopods can indeed look bored.

"A park is a place people go ta have a good time." Gear responded to Kol. "A water park is where people go ta have a good time on things like... Hmm..." He turned around and pointed a finger at the giant water slide that Kolt had referred to earlier. It stuck out above the trees in the distance. "See that structure over there? That's a water slide. Ya climb to the top of it, and then slide down to the bottom. Gives folk the thrill of fallin' without the risk a' goin' splat at the bottom. It's called a water slide 'cause water runs down the whole thing an' makes the ride smother, and there's a pool at the bottom that ya land in." He turned back to Kol. "'fraid that armor would damage the slide though. Ya'd need softer clothes or swimwear."

"She can't remove the armor Luke. It's an environment suit. The heat would kill her if she didn't have it." The broken hive droid spoke up.

"Ah... Tha' might be a problem... Hmm... Well, what is it ya do on yer world? For fun I mean."

Tatiana looked to Kol as Gear answered her question, "Yup, they merely provide watery fun that cannot be provided by a mere ocean. I only know of 'em by reputation, like amusement parks and rollercoasters, seem like big stuff, if the hype is to be believed." She turned to Ulrich, hoping her explanation was useful, "Hey, Ulirch, as everybody else seems to have someplace to be how about we meander a bit? I mean, I ain't got any plans, and really this place is more alien to me than Beacon. Not used to fancy."

Rika, who had fully stepped through Jaken's portal, poked her head back through. "Come on, Jaken! Jenny and Kolt are definitely going to be at the water-park by now! Also, I think I'm going to draw some attention with my head through a portal like this.." She stated. A few passers-by were starting to stare at Rika's tail-end..

With a chuckle, Jaken waited until he was sure everyone who was going through had gone through then he gave a mock bow to the others and backflipped through the hole in space...

...to arrive where he'd planned. Grinning slightly, he closed the portal, saluted the stunned onlookers and set about opening the next portal. This one was a further distance and he grunted slightly at the extra pressure as the hole formed behind what appeared to be a bus stop. "Landed on bus once," he explained. "hard to hang on."

Ulrich removed his gauntlets for Rika and clipped them to his belt. He held out his hands for her and marvelled at how quickly the healing had taken place and at how thorough it was. There wasn't even a scar left. "Thank you Rika," He said, turning to Tatiana as she spoke to him. He nodded, a smile spread across his face, "That sounds like a good plan. I am sure there are things to do across the entire island. I think I remember learning that a lot of good places are smaller and out and about rather than in the big tourist traps."

”Flattery will get you everywhere.” Kolt joked, feeling glad she thought he was handsome. He got a bit more excited when Jenny asked about his culture. ”Geez, where to start?” He said as he spotted a place that seemed to be selling swimsuits, and landed at the end of surprisingly long line leading up to the hut. ”Well, I’m sure you’ve already figured out how important tails are in our society, so I don’t think I need to expand on that. Maybe I could talk about our history with Capes? Or maybe I could tell you about my teammates back in the Magni?
