I leave it out in direct sunlight so the sparkles attract attention.

The book gets rescued instead of me, so I stow away on the ship that took it.

I leave behind a shipment of bananas I had to throw out of a crate.
My tree now has a café in it. Yay?

I eat the bananas, then using a rather complicated method, I dry the skins and use them to create a buoy with a message on it, and set it adrift at sea. Luckily, people find the banana buoy, and they save me, using directions that I made from the positions of the moon, sun, and stars at certain times of day.
I leave behind a pocket calculator.

I modify it into a rudimentary transmitter, and build a makeshift antenna out of some of the wiring. Not that it actually works since i have nothing to transmit, so i leave behind a skeleton.

I use the skull to play out the monologue of Hamlet to Yorick. Theatrical critics arrive to bash the play, so I steal their boat, and leave ~17 angry cultural critics and reporters behind.
Yes, that is about the best thing to write that I could think of.

We all train and row back to the mainland in a canoe made from a fallen tree.

I leave behind a package of peppermint candy.

I throw away the candy and use the package as an air bladder to swim deeper underwater and retrieve parts of the various crafts that must have crashed depositing us here.

With them i build a makeshift motorboat out hull bits and a propeller, leaving behind the bits i didn't use.

I glue the leftover bits together using tree sap to make modern art, attracting people from around the world to come gaze at it and figure out just what it might mean.

When they all eventually realize that my art is nothing more than leftover scraps and tree sap, I sneak on one of the boats before they all leave, leaving behind a fake, doll sized me so they wouldn't realize I had snuck onto a boat.

i use the doll as a weight help move things around building a house, with that house i made tools and crafted a boat and paddle from a fallen tree, as a signal, the doll is 8 high above in the middle of the boat. another boat saw it and picked me up.

the thing i left on the island is my house

I use the bathtub as a boat, some pipes to make a mast and some towels to make a sail. Using that I start sailing away.

I leave behind the bath plug... woops.

I reverse engineer the plug and create a plug magnet, and use it to remove the plug in the bottom of the ocean allowing me to walk back to land. I of course also built robots to put the plug back after I left, so I leave the 'bots behind.

I wait for SpaceX to land their rocket there. Yes, not enough fuel to get to the land, but hey, it looks cool!
...and yah, some people will go and recorver it, probably with me tagging along, but that's not important.

I leave behind a torusty pamphlet about Equador. (took a few wrong turns before ending up on this island  )

I touch the bear and fly off the island because of the explosion.

Though I couldn't escape without any damage and I leave one arm and both of my legs.

I give your decomposing corpse to a bunch of decomposing bugs, who then worship me for giving them so much food. I then command them to make a raft for me, which I use to escape!
I leave behind the other bugs that still worship me.

I accidentally drop my spare pair of shorts from my suitcase as I leave.

(I almost missed "spare" on my first read-through of that. )

I use the shorts to make char cloth to start a rescue fire quickly and easily, and am rescued by a passing ship.

I leave the Altoids tin I used to make the char cloth, as well as some bloody sticks from building the first fire.

I push all the rocks, dirt and gravel into the ocean, thereby doubling the size of the island, attracting National Geograhic, the DeBeers Corporation, and warships from the navies of several major powers. However, because I am remarkably obtuse, I ignore the value of the semi-precious stones and instead raise first-class steerable home by charging sailors rent for using my island as a empire's haven. So, I'm gone and you get an island coverage in discarded tobacco product trash.

Repeated tuning do to vibrations produce sonic waves that attract radar attention from the UNited States Air Force searching for UFOs. Their arrival on the island abetts my departure but results in a large pole of small notepads being left behind by airmen seeking autographs from discovered space aliens.

Employing the fishing rod to catch vast numbers of fish, I succeed in attracting enough exotic sea birds to obtain sufficient DNA for the recreation of the Dodo. When scientists discover the revival of this formerly extinct species, they of course "flock" to the island, rescue me, and retire to a life of opulence as a result of the profits from the unexpected popularity of Dodo birds as domestic pets....

Oh, and I left behind a half finished package of Vienna Finger cookies...
