Agent Sandwich wrote:I've decided to translate the first comic that Rick drew like everyone else! I had to change the pun in the 3rd strip because it wouldn't make sense in Chinese!

Translation from the 3rd panel:

Grape: My name is Emperor Qin, one of the most powerful emperors in Chinese history!
Peanut: All hail DEMOCRACY!
Can someone tell me what is meaning in the 3rd strip in english, I don't know what is "rain-ing" meaning in this strip.
thanks...^^

The pun is on the word reigning like the reign of a King. Since Grape is pretending to be a Weather Wizard Peanut is making a pun based on raining like the weather because it sounds the same as reining.

五天试已考两天,晚上抽空休息
突然觉得翻译这篇似乎很有趣
(应该说....是再创作才对...= =)

以下为文字抽换表

ecomony:对物种存在之争论
Nancy Pelosi:演化论
iraq:生命起源
bailout:天择
U.S.:物种起源
mortgage:存在目的
pork barrel:设计者
Obama:神创论
reid:智慧设计论
McConnell:创造论

这应该是定稿,不过至少要到礼拜天晚上我才可能有办法试作

Ok,maybe I should take a break for a few day, too.

It's impossible to translated political comic,so I change all the word in this comic. So,this comics is become re-creation.The topical is argue between evolution and Intelligent design.

I translated this comic because of this one need hand-writing,that's interesting.
And like Agent Sandwich was saying before, chinese word can write top to bottom ,and that is only comic I can do it.

Becuse I need to write and scan my hand write to create this comics.Though I translated all the comics in traditional and simplified chinese, but I have no used to write simplified chinese. So, only traditional one. ^^|||

Ok,I am busy recently. So I may take a break for a few day.
I have a question for today's comic, can someone tell me what the meaning is
"let me get the shovel".
Is this a phrase or I can translated it as the world saying(讓我去拿一把鏟子)?
I may translated it as 讓我們把你挖出來吧(That us dig you out).
thanks...^^

The best way I can explain this is like this: Pete is saying that Joel/King is a dog now so it doesn't matter what he was before that. And Kitsune is agreeing with him because Pete transformed Joel into King he did not screw with Time to make Joel be King which was the rule they agreed to. I hope that helps because its the best way I know how to explain it.

I think for a day ,I can't still understand very clearly. Can someone tell me what is "screw with Time"meaning(sorry, my english is not good). If is meaning as "distortion the time"(in chinese is 時間扭曲),so by play with the time you can change the things will happenend or had happended?
I may change my translated into 規則有言不得造成時空之錯亂。是以我建議既往不咎。(the rule saying No Messing With Time,so I suggest to let bygones be bygones ),in fact I don,t very sure if I really understand the meaning of"past status is fing"and don't have misunderstand.

I think this translation maybe the hardest I mad so far...^^|||,two days(maybe for 3 days ?) think only for on sentences..

for example, if Pete had gone back into time to transform Joel into a dog, that would have been 'screwing with time'. Since Pete, instead, trasformed Joel into king in the present, the U&U rules allow that King is considered a regular dog to be Pete's avatar, no matter what species used to belong before the transformation.
Hope its' clearer now ;)

The Past stats line is talking about the fact that King was originally Joel and then Pete changed him. Kitsune is saying that changing someone like that is not against the rules.

And if i may give my opinion on the how to translate the "Past Status is Fine" line it would be 他以前是什么并不重要 or "What he was before does not matter" Mind you I don't know any Chinese at all and used Google Translator to do it but I think it works.

Thanks you that me know I don't misunderstand the meaning.
In this translation ,I use the phrase(既往不咎),so I will think twice if the conceal meaning fit the original sentence.

And your translation is right,I always think Google Translator is awesome(though it usually have strange translation)

Sorry!

EDIT - I asked because I tok for granted there was a translation of said word in the 8th panel, and Pete is surely referring to her by name and not by species.

I know what you meaning, but I think translated it as species name is more funny than a name.
Dragon→龍=龙
Because in 8th panel species name equal her name,I think this translated"a dragon fall in love with....."is more funny than "Dragon 愛上了低等生物(direct translation)".
Sometime if too hard to translated or want make the sentence more funny、easy read in translation,I may translated by meaning instand of exact direct translation.

Sorry,I have a problem again...= =

In 2nd panel ,Kitsune sad" so I have a policy of intrinsic benevolence".
I think "intrinsic benevolence" may can translated directly (固有的慈悲),but I can't
take the relation with the 3th panel"it that mean...........your choice can be overridden in some case".For relation with the 3th panel,I think if better translated "intrinsic benevolence" to 「多數利益」(majority interest )?
So someone can explain "intrinsic benevolence" more clearly in this strip?thanks...^^

(follow is my translated semifinished material ,please to ignore it
我選擇這個宇宙是因為我喜歡你們這群生物,我可不希望你們在我的主持下受傷,所以我抱持著"intrinsic benevolence"的政策。我們可不是怪獸...不過Pete或許是個例外。

我喜愛你們這群生物,是遊戲在這宇宙進行的原因。我可不希望在我的主持下有任何人受到傷害,是以兼愛為基本的政策方針)
