Well i was actually going by multiple tables in the galley. each table able to sit four to six crew. after they are filled the crew would have to line up.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
Yeah, that's not how it happened, sorry. Remember we're on a ship and space is quite limited. It's not like a soldier's mess where they can spread out.
Have a look at this picture. The galley is number 7 on the main deck. It's really rather small. Argent used that picture for the ship's layout when he was GM so we'll stick with that for consistency now that I'm GM.
Thanks for the retcon link, Argent.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
WARNING! SPOILER ALERT! He saw them from whichever part of the island he was at the moment, but was too late to signal them, so he remembered the general direction they headed to.Hlaoroo wrote:That's a "Pirates of the Caribbean" reference, isn't it? I suppose it's conceivable that Patrick could make a raft out of whatever he could find. He'd probably have to fight the cats that got left behind for resources though. (Just so you know, Moon Howler, most of the ship's cats were left on the island because they were tearing apart the bilge in an attempt to find the rats. They even copped the blame for the explosive traps that Pinch set.)
I was thinking you'd do a post stating that Patrick followed the rest of the crew on board and play it like that but your way works too.
After the carnage in the galley we were going to have a sea battle and then sail to Castillo Pato for repairs which will take a couple of days so if you want him to ride on sea turtles then I see no reason why he shouldn't do just that. The only thing is, how would he know which way the ship has gone?
Besides, the thing about cats is that they somehow have the ability to always find their way home. In this case the ship itself is that home, so let's I am going with that.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
I think that's generally only when the home is stationary, Moon. I can see him following the ship's heading though and meeting the ship again in Castillo Pato though. Patrick can navigate by the stars, right? He should have no trouble maintaining his heading, even if he has no idea where that heading might take him.
Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
I still think Captain Palgrave would have someone's hide if he discovered they'd left the island without Patrick.

yeah I think Tiki could go into the city's ruins
Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
They'll probably have some crew and dogs cleaning out the hold where the rat city was.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
True. I figure there'll be some remnants left though even if it's just a couple of small nests. It's hard to find every corner in a dark hold and with 150 rats living there it would be a sizeable clean-up effort. With the work to get the ship under way I think it's conceivable that there'd be something left and that they'd return before long to finish the job.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
So could Tiki possibly find anything in the rat city ruins? Or will there be nothing left since its mostly been cleaned up?

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
The throne room and the treasury/store rooms would have been in the deepest part of the city. Since the rats left in rather a hurry he might find some of their food or weapons or even a couple of gems or coins if he's lucky.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
It's OK. It happens.
Why not have Tiki step up to get his food and be surprised to see Blacks working in the galley or some thing like that?
Everyone else. Let's keep posting please. Don't let this die.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
I would suggest maybe fast-forwarding to Saint Canard Castillo Pato.
And maybe have Eduardo try something underhanded to undermine Captain Palgrave, maybe involving "selling" something he doesn't own... like Patrick.

Why would you suggest that, Argent? Aside from getting Patrick back in, that is.
Serence: Up to you. You guys can choose.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
I think Patrick being left behind is out of character for the captain and crew, TBH... but I already said that. No, this would be just to introduce more conflict and opportunity for role play.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
I suppose we can always have our firefight later. Sally can decide to call off the kitchen raid too.
I agree that it would be a bit out of character to leave him though.
What does everyone else think about the idea of skipping?
Hotep: What are you planning with the rats in the galley? Just remember that Serence and Hyper also have characters in the raid so keep them in the loop too.

OK. Remember that Tackle put Stint and Ventus in command so don't have George take too many liberties. He has to follow their orders.
Or on the other paw, he can do what you're doing and have him defy them and probably get himself into trouble later. Up to you.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
Anybody seen Moon Howler lately? He seems to have vanished again.
I'm not sure if I should use Tackle to call off the raid and skip to the port to let him back in again or if we wait for Moon to get back and have Tackle do something else and the raid go ahead in the meantime...
Remember too, guys, that there's not a lot of space in the galley. People don't eat in there. They'll come in, get a portion of food and leave again, taking it to somewhere on the deck to eat. So there'll be traffic which the rats might use as cover rather than people being distracted by eating.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
Hey, I'd really like to join this rp. Here's my character sheet, and feel free to pm me if you guys see something that needs to be tweaked.
Name: George "Geo" Walker
Gender: Male
Character Type: Main
Species: Dog (Irish Wolfhound)
Age: 23 dog years
Neighborhood: 17th Century Fox
Appearance: Geo is mostly grey with black on his feet. He has an old scar where no hair grows across his snout and another much longer one along his left side. His left ear is torn, which many assume happened at the same time he 'earned' his scars. His collar is a braided piece of an old flag, faded into a shade of brownish salmon. Sometimes wears a brown felt cap when he's feeling silly.
Personality: A rough sort of dog, Geo likes to playfully tackle the human crew when he's bored, mostly to practice his skills or keep the humans on their toes. He's usually pretty cheerful, but can switch to being mad in no time if someone says that wrong thing. Geo is also a pathological lair, lying about even the smallest of things. When it comes to battle, Geo jumps around to confuse his target then attacks (usually biting) or intimidates them with his size. He doesn't tolerate whining or complaining about things that can't be changed (if he hears someone complaining about something that can easily be changed, he'll more than likely swat them). He lives by a set of rules he created, which he only breaks once in a blue moon. Also, Geo loves kids and will make exceptions to almost all his rules for them.
Background: Geo's story changes all the time, usually to fit whatever situation he's in. All that's really known about him is that he doesn't have a specific owner, he was on his own from puphood, was near death when he was found, and he really doesn't like it when people ask him about his past owner(s).
Special: Strength-8 Perception-4 Endurance-7 Charisma-7 Intelligence-6 Agility-7 Luck-3
Text Color: #008000

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
He looks like a great character!
Just a couple of things:
1.) Paper was a very valuable commodity in these times and only the richest could afford to use it. They'd certainly not have used it for anything as frivolous as making hats. Perhaps give him a felt cap or something like that instead?
2) Since he doesn't have an owner, when he joins the crew he'll by definition belong to the captain who'll probably delegate some other human to keep him busy. Will that work for you or would you like to create an owner?
3) If he attacks the crew then he'll probably be marooned at the next island they come to. The captain wouldn't tolerate pets causing dissension at all. I suggest you avoid having him do that if possible. Sparring in order to keep fit and hone skills would probably be allowed though, just so long as there are no other chores to be done and they don't cause any damage.
Stats and everything else looks good though so if you fix those up then you're free to join! We just need to work out a way to get him to a pirate ship in the middle of the ocean...
I have an idea. Pretty soon there's going to be a sea battle which the Impudence will win but it'll be damaged and head to port for repairs. Shall we have George a prisoner on board the other ship that the Impudence captures and thus be rescued after the fight? Alternatively George could either be an existing crew member or he could join when we get to the port. Which would you rather?

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
1. Fixed. Thank you for the suggestion!
2. Being owned by the captain would be fine. He's a NPC right?
3. Hopefully that's addressed
I think Geo being a prisoner is fine, but during the battle would he be fighting too?
