Re: The Silver Screen
Finally got around to watching Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, it was as great as I thought it would be. The movie is the first of only two films to star Paul Newman and Robert Redford together, it was originally going to be Newman and Steve McQueen.
I also watched The Sugarland Express, Steven Spielberg's first feature film.

Did you see the "first" one? How do you think they compare? This one, based on the trailer, looks like it's better to me.

They're both one in the same. (though I do think the new one has a better ending)

Re: The Silver Screen
I just watched the slasher film "Hatchet" for the first time and it was great! I can't believe that I have put off seeing it for so long. The writer/director Adam Green once said that he had not really done anything new, he just took it a step further. This movie was awesome! And, I have two sequels to look forward too.
I watched two of the Mexican "Aztec Mummy" films. "The Robot vs The Aztec Mummy", which was riffed on an episode of "Mystery Science Theater 3000", and "The Rock 'N Roll Wrestling Women vs The Aztec Mummy". This is an edited version of a film simply called "The Wrestling Women vs The Aztec Mummy", with the distributor "Rhino video adding a cool rock n roll soundtrack to punctuate the action. Not as effect as the time "Nosferatu" was set to music by Type O Negative, but it makes the film more enjoyable. As you might expect from the titles, these are "so bad they're good" movies. Which is a shame because the original "The Aztec Mummy" was actually very creepy.

I'm excited to see Cap when it comes out. Thor was okay, but it felt like Loki stole the show a bit. I REALLY hope Guardians of the Galaxy does well, as that superhero group needs more exposure, and it actually looks pretty good (Esp. a certain gun-toting raccoon ).
I just realized that there's a few big-gamble movies coming up: Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant Man, Jurassic World, Star Wars Episode VII...It's going to be an interesting couple of years when it comes to movies.

Sly Cooper announced for 2016. I'm hype.
I also saw Divergent the past weekend. It was good. Not mind-blowingly awesome, but not mediocre either. Just good.

Saw "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" again at a dollar theater. This weekend they are showing "Frozen" so I might go see that.

I gotta check out Frozen, but another thing I gotta watch is Lilo and Stitch. Admittedly, when I was in high school, watched less Disney movies in favor of it b eing the cool thing, but now I deeply regret it.

Ashamed to say that I've never watched Forrest Gump.

Re: The Silver Screen
I saw "Frozen" and I thought it was very good. People said that Olaf was annoying. I actually found him to be a very pleasant character. Especially when compared to far more annoying comic relief characters like the genie from "Aladdin".
After that I watched "You're Next". It really took me by surprise. They really pushed the limits of the slasher and home invasion sub-genres.

So, I think this is important for someone to hear. Apparently, the movie Noah, which is another bible movie around here, it's like, a pre-historic post-apocalyptic movie with the rock biters from the Never ending story who are supposed to be fallen angels, too few jet skis to be called Waterworld, a few muscle cars short to be Mad Max, and old testament levels of violence, while taking place on the super continent Pangea, because there is an establishing shot of "where we are now" and it shows freaking Pangea. It's weird ._.

I read in TIME magazine that the producers of Noah went to talk to the pope because the movie had a biblical scene and got rejected, since they were using it for entertainment/income. All of the animals in it were animated, too. What was the Rotten Tomatoes rating? The Grey Wolverine wrote:So, I think this is important for someone to hear. Actually a 47%, so slightly below average http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/noah_2014/
And yes, I am weird and don't use 7/70 as average, on a scale of 1-10(or 1-100) 5(50) is average, it drives me up a wall when people have 7 as average

Re: The Silver Screen
I would call 2001 the best movie I have ever seen, no question. It's not my favorite (though it's close), but it's the best. <3
I want to see that! The problem with the last one is they focused too much on "hey look Muppets again" rather than just making a good Muppets movie. I see this as their chance to reclaim that.Penwrite wrote:Muppets Most Wanted was good. Not the best Muppet film, but a good time still.

I'm really digging the visual style there. It's kinda cg, but in a flat, kinda 2D traditional-animation way that I don't think I've seen before. Pretty to look at, if nothing else.

It was so bad, but I really liked it because it was bad.
