When they finally reached the main road, Chem skidded/stumbled to a stop. After giving a long exhale of relief he fell back into a sitting position.
"Should probably... start running...more." The wolf said in between pants. Chem then laid back, resting his head on the grass at the side of the road, his maw open and his tongue lolled out in exhaustion, still gasping for air.

"Blimey! Fireworks! I've only ever seen them in the films they show in the drive in, never in real life. Too much risk of a bushfire, I reckon. Aw, that'll be awesome to see!" Jake starts to get excited. Joey sees the big cat entering the shop.
"G'day! I'm Joey. This is my twin, Jake, and our friend, Met. Jake and I are both new here. Have you been here long?"

Marro panted and fell back on his butt about a foot away from Chem, propping his self up on his hands, his tail idly thumping against the ground behind him "H-Heh suppose it was inevitable that you win" he gave a slight grin

"Oh, I use to live in a zoo before it closed down. I was then given to my dad." Namine explained. "As for why I moved here, Dad says that it was to let me have a better life. So, what about you guys?" she asked.

"Well um, they're a distant. Also they seem to tire out easily."

"Shall we go?" Jake pulls a tin out of his bag and opens it to reveal a pile of grass pellets. He offers it to Joey who takes a small handful and then holds it out to the cats.
"Want some?" he asks politely. Not having talked to the feral cats in the Australian bush and knowing that they weren't threats to animals as big as kangaroos, he is woefully unaware of their natural eating habits.

"I keep trying to talk to them but they mostly space out. It's frustrating because it feels like they really don't want to talk to me."

"Ah. Right. Of course. And I suppose that means you are too, Namine..." Jake busies himself putting the tin away, feeling a little embarrassed, and nearly runs into a pole while he's distracted. This causes Joey to nearly wet himself laughing which only serves to heighten Jake's embarrassment as the two kangaroos slowly hop along the path, trying not to outpace the lion and ocelot with their much longer paces.

Marro shook his head and returned to reality, gripping his head as images begin to flood his vision, images of Houston sad and up high, he recognized the area around as somewhere around town, but was unsure where. Houston was his friend, he resolved to himself to find him and see if something was the matter, not quite sure if this was past, present, or somewhere far in the future. He looked to Chem, who seemed to still be out of it, he couldn't just leave him here either, so he gathered his energy, gripped Chem's paw and began to lead towards town, calling out for Houston.

Houston seems completely lost and his eyes weren't helping much. He decides to fly off to see if he could find some directory or government office. As he flies teary-eyed, he accidentally bumps into something and falls a significant distance. He then realizes he broke his wing and cries for help.

In an instant, Jake's embarrassment is forgotten.
"Did you guys hear that? It sounded like-"
"A cry for help." finishes Joey, meeting his brother's eyes. The two kangaroos already know the other's thoughts and as one they turn and bound off in the direction of the cry, easily covering several metres with each hop, calling for the two cats to follow as they go. With each bounce, a dull but loud thud can be heard. It's this which gives kangaroos their nickname: boomers.
"Where are you? Yell again-"
"And we'll follow your voice!" shout the two kangaroos, keeping their ears and eyes peeled for the source of the cry.

With Houston's guidance, the roos soon find him a few blocks away. Skidding to a stop a few metres away, they hold a quick, whispered conference.
"Jake! That's an eagle!"
'I know. But it's injured. Look at its wing."
"It could still be dangerous."
"One good hop and we'll be out of its reach. It won't get far with that wing. Besides, they usually only go for joeys anyway, not full-grown roos." Joey soon sees the logic in this and the roos warily approach.
"I'm Jake and this is my brother, Joey. What's happened to you?" Jake unhooks his backack from his shoulders and pulls out the first aid kit.

He loses his balance for a moment.

"I am domesticated, thank you very much."

Jake smiles and shrugs apologetically. "Of course. Sorry. We've never met a falcon before." He squats next to the big bird. "D'you want me to take a look at that wing? I'm not a doctor but I've learned a thing or two, living out in the bush. What did you do to it? Are you injured anywhere else?" Jake makes no attempt to touch the bird, keeping his eye on the sharp, hooked beak.

Houston gets annoyed with the distrust.

"It's just my wing that's busted. I'm not sure what I flew into though."

"Sorry, mate. Old habits die hard. We're only new here, and in fact, new to human society. Where we come from, any bird like you were considered dangerous. Let me see your wing. I'll try to help as best I can." He now moves forward and takes gentle hold of the damaged wing, cautiously probing his way along the bones and joints, working his way towards the bird's body, trying, somewhat unsuccessfully, to avoid ending spikes of pain shooting up the wing.
"You've certainly pranged something, mate. It's clearly broken here and I think your shoulder might be dislocated too. Normally I'd just pop the shoulder back in but I don't want to risk aggravating the break further. I hate to say it but we need to get you to the humans. They're the only ones who can fix this... Er... D'you know the way back to Met and Namine, Joey?"
"Nuh. I thought you did."
"Ah. That might be a problem... MET!!! WHERE ARE YOU?" he roars suddenly, causing Joey to jump.
"Crikey! Some warning'd be good, Jake!"
