I've never eaten dog food before, although my older sister did once trick my younger sister into doing it. I don't tend to chew things either. I actually hate gnawing on bones.

My fursona is actually an Eastern Quoll, just by the way.

I've eaten puppy chow (the homemade confection, not the brand of dog food) like a dog before. I even wore a collar.
oh hey, I've never heard them called that. that stuff's awesome, and I'd probably eat it without using my hands if I were particularly lazy

It would not be good pet food, if you would get ill from eating it.
And the stuff is usually tested by trying it. Just like normal convenience food.

That is how Taco Bell is able to sell their tacos so cheap! They use Grade C meat, the lowest grade still considered safe for human consumption, the same used it dog food!

So, if you have eaten at Taco Bell you have technically eaten dog food!

Actually, the 'grade' classification followed by a letter doesn't exist, but letters refer to maturity groups/the age of the cattle used in beef production. The USDA quality scale runs from prime through choice, select, standard, commercial, utility, and cutter to the lowest quality, canner. Here's what the USDA, the only official (US) authority on food quality classification, has to say.

And food is also permitted a certain amount of fecal matter or insects (alive or dead) which boils down to 12 bits of bug being somewhere in your peanut butter. So if you wondered why it was crunchy...
But yeah, food quality standards should be better. Pets used to be fed off the table, not with cans.

If the standard were "zero," it would be ridiculously expensive to buy any food due to the cost of inspections.

I'm not saying all food should be exceptional but I think that the fact I have probably just eaten half a roach drowned in peanut butter is pretty important. Moreover, I don't want to be eating bugs and random secretions.

Yeah, I would have expected that pet food can be consumable by humans, but it's still kinda scary knowing what's inside the food that you eat. There are some cultures that actually eat bugs for a living though. Random secretions? Umm... I'm not entirely sure.

If it puts your mind at ease, I actually had a really crappy summer job working in a ham factory. I was shocked at how clean it was. Every night the machines were flushed out with boiling hot water and a soap that had so much lye in it that it could burn your skin.

The element that made it horrible was my co-workers. Ugh...

It's not that the insects will fall in the finished peanut butter. They are between the peanuts when these are grounded.
And I am pretty sure you do not want to know about animals that are inside the cargo holds of ships carrying grain...

All this talk about food makes me wonder about the conventions of stories with furry characters. What would they eat? Would it be tantamount to cannibalism to eat another sentient being? And, what creatures would be sentient and which would not be? Or just bad etiquette?

As we all know, in "Housepets" all animals are sentient except probably for cows.

That's kinda unavoidable. No matter what you make, every food has a pretty high chance of having SOME kind of contamination in it. Even if you make it yourself. Fresh corn still probably has more dead aphids in it than anything you get from a can--it's kind of the issue with living in a world in which the things you need to sustain yourself all share an environment with icky things.

Heh, I don't mind. I've only thought about making the fursona since I joined up here and I was originally thinking a bunny anyway, but I decided the quoll suited me better. I still love rabbits though.

I'm on your side! I think mice and rats are both adorable! That is, the non-disease ridden, pet ones, of course.

I don't think it would be a problem. Grape has eaten mice before and she and Max have argued over a bird. Have we seen any pigs or sheep in this comic yet? I reckon they'd be similar to cows in that they wouldn't be anthropomorphised.

My body language is vastly different in how I walk, my posture, and my gestures. My voice is more lilting, perhaps the tiniest bit higher but for the most part I use my own voice. I'm a tenor when I sing so it's not a deep voice . There's a youtube video where I read a script for Adventures in odyssey, and it's pretty close to my tycho voice.

Holy mother.

Tychoaussie, you have just become my new favorite person.
Reasons why----
1.) You also live in MI.
2.) You're probably a State fan.
3.) You enjoy Adventures in Odyssey.
4.) You also enjoy Housepets.
Is there ANYONE on this forum who DOES NOT have a slightest thing in common with me!?
