Re: 2013/09/13 - No Mountain High Enough
Wow, page 2 already? Hot topic!
I travelled far and wide in younger days,
learning languages and ethics beyond
those of the west. In Africa, a haze
parted to reveal him.
I spoke their words and worked their ways
as, in secret union, we formed a bond
of love. Then his father his heart betrays
and he is lost from sight.
I came here and forged affection
with others like Max and noble Fido.
I never thought to consider ascension
Now he's come here.
I stand here like a modern Hathor
or a Bastet or even a... heh... Bes
and I have to choose either Jata or
my Fido. Oh boy.
Our love has been a kept secret -
I seem to have a talent for those -
but now what happens I will regret..
The fault, it seems, is mine.

Monday's comic:RioluNation wrote:Me too!Duster wrote:That last panel, oh my goodness, that last panel.
Looks like Sabrina may be near the edge of a nervous breakdown. Can't wait to see Fido weigh in on this new development!
Also, Sabrina is all like "Awkward."
Fido steps in right now and sees Sab's expression. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MY G..." *blank, horrified stare*
Dag nabbed petty annoyances...
Re: 2013/09/13 - No Mountain High Enough
Or maybe that expression was meant because she already have a boyfriend and the sudden reveal seems to be an awkward situation for her (seems he came too late).Cerberusx wrote:It's obvious Sabrina doesn't want her relationship with Fido public knowledge as well, given the last panel.
Actually I always wanted to know if she wants the secrecy of their relationship because she has proved to be not worried at all about that matter ever since her first appearence in the comic (come on, she even tease him in public).

Noooooo... this is gonna end sadly like the last arc... ( I've only seen Jata in three strips and I already never want to see him sad ).
That's two arcs in a row of feels!

Ohhh...this isn't good. Don't think Fido's going to be too happy with either result in this scenario.
Conflict. Every story worth telling puts the characters in some kind of stressful situation, whether it be a love triangle, fighting their inner demons, or battling against the forces of a malevolent deity in the form of a Griffin.69eist wrote:Why is it always the love twists that makes a good story?

It's like a soap opera with animals! Get your glasses and your mouse Fido, you're gonna need 'em.

Well then..... I guess we'll see just how taboo a cat and dog relationship is. (looks at Gamecobra)
That's what makes a comic so great right =P

I was thinking along these lines given the arc title "Jungle Fever" with its meaning of interracial relations (and HP! Equivalent interspecies relations) that the story might concern Sabrina/Fido, But didn't want to say anything given the potentianal sensitivity of the subject.NickProdiG wrote:I don't think anyone expected this. Well that'd classic Rick, coming up with crazy twist and turns no one can predict!!!

According to the comic that should have happened around a month ago. Assuming Tarot meant exactly three years from that time. And assuming Rick was serious about that happening. And assuming your statement was serious too.copper wrote:This is it.... Sabrina will almost drown in this arc, I just know it!

Well yeah, but it's not just something for comics; it's pretty much an element that makes every form of storytelling great. Books, comics, shows, movies, etc. Conflict is in important factor in all those things.Tatsuo wrote:max7345 wrote:Conflict. Re: 2013/09/13 - No Mountain High Enough
A prince is the ruler of a princedom or principality (from latin princeps, the 'first' or leader of the senate). The "prince is the son of a king" thing came about after they accumulated so many titles in the person of the king or emperor they started delegating them out to members of the family.copper wrote:Wait, if Jata's father passed, does that make him King now? Is he the eldest, or a younger sibling?
So Charles is technically "Prince Charles" because he's the titular head of the formerly independent country of Wales. Which happens to be inherited by the heir to the throne of England.
I don't know whether the other princes and princesses actually have little conquered slabs of dirt associated with their titles, or whether they've given up on that, but there's plenty of princes that don't become kings, though they may be counts, dukes, earls, barons, baronets, or whatever on the way to the princedom.
Trivia: "Count" Dracula was actually Prince Vlad Tepes of Wallachia. "Dracula" was a title, it meant "dragon", and was derived from his grandfather's membership in a secret order of knights. The "count" bit was an invention of Stoker.
Leopards are members of the cat family. They're close relatives. Cats and dogs are opposite ends of the carnivore clan... literally: carnivora is largely split into two suborders: caniformia (dog-like) and feliformia (cat-like).GameCobra wrote: Speaking of Jata, I think one of the things that might be touched on mostly in this arc is the taboo. The cats go crazy over leopards, and it seems Leopards can fall for cats, but the moment Fido is brought up, everyone blows a whistle. Jata might be the understanding example.

I apparently need to get more sleep. At first I didn't realize why Sabrina had that expression in the last panel, until reading here reminded me of her relationship with Fido.
Though, apparently I'm not the only one not really awake, since Rick forgot the "Tarot" tag (even if he remembered the "K-9 Unit" one for a character whose only presence is a speech bubble).

OK, let's see who will reveal the relationship between Sabrina and Fido. Sabrina, Fido or maybe Peanut with his quick mouth?
I thought the same. It's an arc around Sabrina, and now it's THE possibility to put her into the cold water.copper wrote:This is it.... Sabrina will almost drown in this arc, I just know it!

Re: 2013/09/13 - No Mountain High Enough
Conflict. Love triangles.
Even George Herriman's Krazy Kat had them, close to a century ago. The strip started out as a 'topper' for a family-humor comic, then took off on its own, surviving nearly thirty years. The strip really became popular after Herriman introduced the love triangle between Krazy, Ignatz Mouse and 'Offissa' Bull Pupp. There are a ton of old Krazy strips and even continuities on the Web, for those with the interest to search.
Just so you don't think Housepets! is somehow unique. Different, yes, but not unique.
