Can I start a topic or something talking about "Gears of War 3" or is that not allowed because of its rating and how much swearing there is and how gory it is?

I think such a question would next time better be suited for a PM.

That being said, we have a blanket topic about gaming in the "Not the comic" section where you can mention it. As long as you aren't detailed about the gore and swearing, I think it should be fine. Use discretion if you link a trailer, though; that can get you in trouble depending on the content.

Thanks for that, I was not sure and did not feel like pushing my luck and talking about it before I knew if I could.

Rules updated
rickgriffin wrote:Welcome to the Housepets! Forum

Minor Rules:
  • Type coherently. People have to be able to read what you write, considering that everything on this forum is in text. So that includes no inb4, lrn2, lawl, tl;dr, etc.
  • Keep it clean. The profanity filter has a number of words set in it already, please don't remind me of words I need to add to it. Any attempt to bypass the filter is a mark against you.
  • It is possible to post WITHOUT stretching the page. Do not write long strings of letters without spaces. Except in the reposting of translated comics, please try not to post any image over 400-500 pixels wide; if you must, link to it, or thumbnail it. You can post larger pictures in the Media Median or the Translation Project boards. (Note, given that the current version on phpBB3 resizes pictures automatically for some browsers, it does not for all.)
  • Since the site is currently low traffic, thread necromancy is not an issue, so do not concern yourself with it. However, DON'T resurrect a thread in order to immediately drive it off topic. That's most certainly purposeless.
  • Do not derail the thread. Especially with arguments (that quickly devolve from what the post WAS about to . . . arguing), but also don't overtly change the topic for more than a post or two.
  • No one-word or single-image responses (unless the topic is about those very things, naturally). This includes thread bumping; do not bump a thread unless you have something additional to contribute.
  • Try not to double-post; there is an edit button on the post. You can double-post when bumping a thread or creating new 'pages' to a post (such as when posting comic translations or fanfiction or what have you)
  • If you see an obviously inappropriate or spam post, please report it (PM me), do not respond to it.
Major Rules:
  • No Flaming. Do not openly attack, insult, belittle or abuse another poster. You will be warned if this occurs, you will be banned on grounds of harassment if this appears to be chronic.
  • No Trolling. Any topic or response purposely intended to incite flames WILL result in a ban. Even if you attempt to have a "serious" conversation, and bend or tiptoe around the board rules for appropriate discussion as a result, this counts as trolling.
  • No Sockpuppeting. Creating multiple accounts to make it look as if your argument has weight is not very honest, is it? This will result in a ban of all accounts.
  • No Mini-Modding. Attempting to call out a rulebreaker by citing the rules is annoying and also derailing to a thread. You will be warned if this occurs. Please PM me about such matters.
Not For Discussion:
The following items are not appropriate for the board and will result in the locking or deletion of the post.
  • The rating of this forum is PG-13 at maximum. That means, while it is okay to mention sex, it is not okay to be explicit about it, nor to discuss it in context of specific characters, NOR is it okay to discuss explicit violence in the same manner. Talking about sites that deal with pornography is not allowed, and linking to them will result in a warning. Posting images with explicit sexual or violent content WILL result in a ban.
  • Current politics or religion outside of the context of the comic, especially as far as it pertains to creating an environment in which to flame others for their viewpoints.
  • Drugs or criminal activity, including obtaining mp3s, movies or computer programs illegally
  • None of the above can be discussed in any capacity on the forum, comment box, or any other board or chatroom endorsed and moderated by this forum or a representative of this forum (to the extent they are acting within their capacity as a representative of this site), nor can discussion or arrangement of said activities be advertised within these areas or directly connected with Housepets in any manner.

Over what? Linking to content? Posting content? Why? If someone is trying to pass off work that's not theirs as their own then I could see it

I agree. The only time that it would ever or should ever be a problem here, is if the artwork is not yours and someone is trying to pass it off as their own or doing anything graphic. But if that's the case, take it somewhere else, like deviantART, Furr Affanity, and etc.

What's the point? Unless they post it and say "This is mine", they shouldn't be in trouble. This rule would just be a pain in the neck to deal with.

So.. what do these fanfics have to do with this forum? I guess you could post them in the Art thread.

So are we able to say things like, "I support King and Sasha." or is that also banned? Or is it just the use of namexname and name/name?

That sounds kind of harsh for a rule.... :? I'll still follow it, of course (I THINK I have so far), but so far that's the only rule I've seen that I haven't understood fully....

That quote seems to be becoming legendary. That was one of the first posts I read here as well. It makes sense, being the second post in the first thread people are supposed to read.

Also, what is this picture of which you speak? I want to see it. But not in a thread-derailing way; via PM or a post that has other substance in it. Unless it's forum-inappropriate, of course.

Hey, I just noticed the slashing rule in the OP. When was that added?

Also, I will obey it, of course, but I must say I never got it. Why does it automatically means it's sexual just because there's a slash or an X?

That's what is very frequently implied by such notation. Heck, that's where the term "slash" comes from in the first place.

It only takes one more keystroke to write "Grape&Max." Or you could just type it out.
