New Smilies: Yes or No?
I've seen quite a few posts on the chat thread and was wondering who else wants more smilies? Like possibly a peanut one?

Woot! Sounds good, but how do we do that?

Petition! I guess if enough people say they want more, the mods will see it and do it...

Except it wouldn't be up to us, it would be up to Rick. We may help moderate the forums, but Rick ultimately makes the decisions about things like that.

Re: New Smilies: Yes or No?
well, there was an attempt at this kind of thing here but Rick felt the size would increase the size of the line breaks too much to implement them on site, so they can currently only be used by putting them into an image tag.
and the line break size is an issue, so don't use them too much

Re: New Smilies: Yes or No?
The problem with more complex smilies is that they would have to be too big. With the size they have to be, the plain smilies are all there's room for.

Users are welcome to remotely host and use emoticons in-line. Having said that, we don't intend to add any more emoticons to the forums, currently. (For one thing, we'd probably break something. x3)
I've actually found several I may start using.

Re: New Smilies: Yes or No?
I use imageshack. I used it once to give someone an orange Peanut
it can also host small images like emoticons.

Let's see, how about a ferret?
Is that small enough to use inline?

Re: New Smilies: Yes or No?
Getting a bit nuts <- really bad attempt of a joke
Why nut shrink the images even smaller? <- same size as the ferret emoticon
I think most of the facial expressions are nut lost. <- characters seem to be distinguishable
There's a bit of extra space between lines,
but that also occurs with the normal smileys.
This is a line of text without
smileys. o_O I lied. :p

Re: New Smilies: Yes or No?
The TwoKinds forums have very nice smilies of the characters, including animated ones. Oh! And there are at least two in which a good deal of the cast does a football match style wave!
