In AOE2 I remember Making 5 monks and converting nearly all of the enemy players villagers! I burned a lot of time playing that game, but i had fun while doing it!

 Re: Discussion: Video Games
Age of Empires 2, the game of my childhood.
I actually have a new copy that was officially made and resold in stores. Unfortunately, I don't really play it.
I remember one time I couldn't beat this one level. I was using cheat codes and everything and still got my butt kicked. Yea, I wasn't that good at it, but had a great time playing it.

 Re: Discussion: Video Games
The demo version of Age of Empires 2 was on all the computers at my middle school. During that one class, when we weren't doing anything, literally everyone was on that game. I also went out and bought a collection of AoE games solely for AoE2. Marco, Polo, Robin Hood, Cheese Steak Jimmy's, Lumberjack, and.... DARNIT. I forgot the cheat for Stone... Oh, and "To Smithereens" THAT cheat is fuuuuuuuun. X3

 Re: Discussion: Video Games
Finally beat Fire Emblem: Awakening on hard. It was really satisfying to beat, and I have to say the ending was great. This game is great in pretty much every way. I recommend it to any strategy game fans!
Then I went through on normal using only Morgan (and her ancestors before I got her), as a Mage Knight with all her stats capped, the skills Armsthrift, Aether, Counter, Galeforce and Lifetaker, and an upgraded Thoron tome I named Morgon. I have to say it felt like a good idea at the time but it was actually very draining. It was like it distilled the game I just enjoyed greatly to a bunch of button mashing while I wait for Morgan to kill everything without effort. I wouldn't have done it if I could go back and do it again. XP

I finally got through ch 5 in Lunatic mode! Then I spammed DLC to get all my units to level 20, and still the game is kinda hard. I will probably never play Lunatic+ unless I am wanting to make myself furious.

 Re: Discussion: Video Games
So, even though my boycott of Assassins Creed 3 lasted quite awhile, I finally got around to playing it.
I'm disappointed. I must admit, at least so far, they've done a good job of not making the British look like nothing but evil tyrants (I'm about 5 hours in), so my biggest worry is solved. Although, it has a problem that I don't think any other Assassins Creed game has. The slowest, most linear story in history. I must admit, it actually stopped being linear at about where I am now, but it's taken me 5 hours to get to this point. I believe it starts from the moment you get the assassin's clothing as that's when you get access to all the smaller missions and are able to fast travel around. I don't like the direction they've gone in this game.
I think they found a winning formula in just having one or two massive cities to run around, which is most fun in an Assassins Creed game. Brotherhood and Revelations both did this, and I really enjoyed it. AC3 seems to have gone back to it's roots with this new open area to travel in...and I'm not sure if it was a good thing. Granted, tree running is fairly cool...but it's nowhere near as cool as free running through massive cities breeming with energy.
For what is's worth, I imagine the game will only get better from this point on. Still, I'm really annoyed about how slow this start is. You could all argue with me and say it was open from when Connar's father arrived in Boston, but you'd be pushing it. Perhaps when Connor first arrives in Boston, it's slightly open...but even then, you're without fast travel which is a major kick in the teeth. Only when you get the outfit does it truly give you freedom and I'm enjoying it thus far.

Guys, try Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge demo. Is just... too much.
Even though they decided to go for the NG2 and 3 mashup... they could be more brave. Still, potentially one of the greatest actions of the last years with Bayonetta

I'm excited for it too! I wanted it ever since it was announced.
It's amusing how Luigi's Mansion has gone from a disappointment to a classic in just a decade.

 Re: Discussion: Video Games
Yeah I'm a little excited about Luigi's Mansion. I've wanted to play the first one for ages but it's so expensive on ebay. At best, the new one will be a creative and amazing revival of the franchise and at worst it'll just be the first one but on 3DS which is all I really wanted in the first place. I just hope, given the release gap, they aren't expecting people to know the exact story and events from the first one.

 Re: Discussion: Video Games
Well, I guess Fire Emblem: Awakening isn't going to overtake my gaming life. Playing it on and off, and probably a bit less now that I went out and got a few Professor Layton games...
And I gotta say, I hate these games soooo much right now, but they are so much FUN! X3 Currently only a bit into "The Curious Village," and it has trolled me so hard so many times in the puzzles, but I think that's actually my inability to see the answer clearly and going off on some tangent that doesn't lead me to the correct answer. CASE IN POINT: the puzzle goes into a long description of how mice are known for reproducing quickly, goes into a few details about said reproducing, then tells you you brought one of the newborn mice home as a pet. After ten months, how many mice will you have? Leave it to my fail of a brain to spend literally THIRTY MINUTES figuring out a massive number that oddly didn't fit, so I thought I made a mistake in the months and went with the previous month's number because it did fit... and it's wrong. So I spent a Hint Token... and almost immediately facedesk'd. HEY, BRAIN! GUESS WHAT? MICE CAN'T BREED IF THERE'S ONLY ONE OF THEM! *brick'd
Ah... that's only the most recent instance of me getting trolled. The game is so much fun though, when I'm doing the puzzles that don't troll my brain.

 Re: Discussion: Video Games
Hehehe, Professor Layton strikes again! Don't worry, despite basically living off brainteasers for most of my life, there are still a few Professor Layton puzzles that occasionally troll me. I particularly dislike the sliding puzzles that have no easily obtainable solution though. That mouse one nearly got me, I started calculating it and then I was like "wait, what kind of puzzle is just a maths problem...?" I can't wait until I can afford to get the latest one!

Wow really? My friends and I found several copies for like 17 dollars a few years ago when we decided to get a ton of TVs and Gamecubes/Wiis together for a Luigi's Mansion speed run race.

 Re: Discussion: Video Games
So I managed to get a PS3 to replace my broken 360, and got a few games to go with it. Out of the new games I bought Metal Gear Rising is ***** fun and Demon's Souls is turning out to be the game I wanted it to be after playing Dark Souls for hundreds of hours beforehand.
Mod Edit: Use of that term as profanity is not allowed.

I have made it a goal to beat Luigi's mansion in one sitting on Halloween sometime, but usually something gets in the way. It's one of the few games that I have beaten multiple times though.

I was in my local Superstore when I saw "Metroid: Other M" for the Wii for $60.00. I then walked six feet to the box of games on sale, and got the same game for $15 bucks. Today was a good day.

Jeez, who would still sell Other M for 60 bucks? That game's been out for a while...
Was still fun, though. I still don't know which side of the bandwagon for thoughts on Other M I'm on. Each side has valid points, in my eyes. But ah well. Was fun while I still had my Wii.

 Re: Discussion: Video Games
Looking for it again, there's one there now which is $30 but yeah, looked for it end of last year and the cheapest copy I could find was like $55. That's happened with other games for me, one year they'll be super cheap and easily obtainable and then the next, they're hard to find and obscenely expensive. Now that Luigi's Mansion has come back down, I might keep an eye on it though. Might be able to get it and finish it before LM2 comes out!

Dude, I've been wanting to play Luigi's Mansion ever since I saw the trailer for the sequel. And on another note, I'm proud to say that I've unlocked Wind Fortress in Cave Story for 3DS. Firstly, the music is ludicrously amazing, but I have to admit that it's brutally difficult( I came THIS close to beating it). It truly is for super players only

So you never even played the original? Gasp and surprise! I remember when I got my Gamecube for Christmas I got Luigi's Mansion and Pikmin with it. Good times. <3 So I really want to get Ni no Kuni but I lack a PS3. Sad day.

Been playing my old games too much now to care about new games. I think I realize now that buying new games just isn't worth the effort anymore since i blew all of my energy on my SNES, PS1 and PS2 days. Oh, and I got that blasted PC now. Totally taking all of my time. Zombies and all. And Plants. Lots of Plants.

 Re: Discussion: Video Games
It still has one of the weirdest GameStop commercials. Though, honestly, every GameStop commercial is weird. Tomb Raider has just been that one series I never really understood. The movies have all but gone to obscurity in my mind, and I don't even know what plot there is - if one even exists, for that matter. On another note, has anyone here played any of the MechWarrior games? I'm actually curious how many people know about MechWarrior and BattleTech in general.

I finished inFAMOUS as a hero. At some point I'll go through again and do all the evil missions. I had a lot of fun with it and enjoyed the story. My only problem was the voice acting, it was awful IMO. I'll be getting InFamous 2 next time I see it at the video game store.

 Re: Discussion: Video Games
I have major issues with the game, free running is sort of punished, since you are yelled at by the guards, and shot at almost immediately, and that makes sense, but tree running is just kind of meh IMO, it makes more sense, but its just not as engaging to me. But I think the big issue really is just that the main character isn't as interesting as Etzio, Etzio was a really good character, and even if you just look at AC2, he went through a lot of growing and changing and he became a real man by the end of AC2, he started out wanting revenge, and in the end he let the killer of his family go, recognizing that the revenge was pointless. He was a brilliant character, and Connor is just kind of bland by comparison, and since the next game won't even have him as the character, he just seems more pointless as a result. However, the sailing was SO good, so its kind of mixed in my opinion.

 Re: Discussion: Video Games
does that mean you think Altair was pointless? he served his purpose and they moved on. now they're moving on from Connor because they didn't have as much to do with him as they did with Ezio. (there is no t, it's like pizza) also, I still never finished revelations.

To be fair, Altair did have another game, called AC Bloodlines and I don't know, it seems like character was such a big part of the Ezio games, it seems odd to just abandon him without doing a lot, I don't know, to me it seems a bit odd

Yeah, him and Sasha we're just fine. My problem was with Cole, Zeke, and Trisha. But I didn't let it ruin the game for me. Sasha and the Reapers were my favorite enemies, but Alden and the Dust Men were my favorite to fight.

I got an Ezio trilogy pack for Christmas and I'm just now starting to work on it. Could be tough since I have lots of homework and it has cursing so I can't play it with dad around, but we'll see.
That pack contains AC2, Brotherhood, and Revelations.

Alright, guys, so I love Warhammer 40,000, its an awesome series of tabletop RPG with a great story to them, and I bought Warhammer 40,000 Space Marines, and it is just plain AWESOME, the Bolters feel like Bolters should, powerful and AWESOME, the chain sword feels right, the orks act right, If you love action and violence in graphic amounts, pick it up, its pretty cheap.

Whooo, boy, Assassin's Creed 3 What can I tell you about it? Before saying something that might displease you all, I'll say that the graphics are breathtaking and really smooth and detailed, specially on open areas, the fights are relly fluent and action packed (although my younger brother, who preordered the game and I own him the privilege of playing it, critized that the developers oversimplified the controls for moving and climbing.), to the point I conquered two forts ( the game says "liberated, but we know that's a filthy lie, totally took it from the british) before Connor got to adulthood! And some of the killings ar really inventive and amazing to watch. And the sailing and sea fights, ooooh! Superb! However, my beef is with the story and plot: WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD! First off, the templars eventually are revealed to be working to liberate the colonies and let them become an indepedent nation. Why?!! That's never explained!!! And, besides, the templars are trying to create a unified, global, totallitarian (though benevolent) regime under their command. Helping the british colonies in their secession would only cause more innestability and less chances of a totalitarian, worldwide regime imposing. And, of course, the ONLY time the templars and the assassins work together, is to found the United States, surprise, surprise! (also, I read on the wijia that the templars were behind Hitler's rise to power, until the assassins killed him, and Kennedy's assassination, one would think the assassins were behind an ASSASSINATION). Pffft, I bet the templars also aided the mexicans on taking El Alamo and the assassins were the ones that made the Wright brothers succeed on making the first airplane. And Connor, where do I begin? First, he never bothered to insist on getting answers on why Juno needed him to keep the templars away from the temple and his people, making him a perfect pawn for her to use. Later, he becomes an assassin to fend off all invaders from his village and the people in it, but not only ends up failing miserably, but he also ends up aiding on the success of those who later on are revealed to have ordered the attack on the village that killed Connor's mother (Washington ordered it), kills his own cousin and best childhood friend and his father in the process of liberating the U.S.A. (it's also never fully explained why he keeps supporting the militia over the years), I mean, sure, both tried to kill Connor, but killing your own friend and your own father is NOT the only way to prevent them from causing harm! Conclusion: The game in itself is something that really is an amazing pic at the wonders of modern software, but the storyline, although the developers tried to insert contrasting points of view, criticism, anti-heroism, and controversial isuess over the indepence wars of the U.S.A. still ended up making a game that greatly represented the british as the "bad guys" of the story, and the colonies as the paragon freedom and justice. I hope that the next game features both D or either of this: A) Showing what happened after Desmond's death (R.I.P.) B) A chance to cronfront, or even kill, Captain Jack Sparrow. Alright, my rant is over, thank you for reading. ...... I'm joining the templars.

I'm telling you, hyenas ARE canines too! Many biologists died to bring us this information! Why won't you honor their deaths?! What I did to their families?!

 Re: Discussion: Video Games
So anyone here play any Roguelikes? Personally I'm playing Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, its a free Roguelike that you can get here If you don't know what a Roguelike is its a genre of games that takes after a very old game called Rogue. You get one life (most of the time) the "graphics" are ASCII art (but almost every modern Roguelike has titleset graphics if you want to use them) and the games are extremely hard and that is not a joke Roguelikes is one of the hardest genre of videogames there are. They are basically like RPGs and the Diablo games take a lot from them though people still argue if Diablo is a Roguelike or not.
