OFF:

Mega Update!

It occurs to me that we could create a facebook site for which we can not speak English, as I have way to participate in the forum.
(I am using google translator to write this)

I think the optimal thing would be to have moderators that can speak both languages (spanish and english, german and english, italian and english, etc) and in that way let people who cannot speak english properly post in the forum and participate like everybody, is only a suggestion but i don't know if this could be possible

Hello people, I'm back again. Sorry, I was delayed a bit, it's took me more than I was expecting.
First of all, thank you all for cheer me up, though it's not like I was THAT depressed, I was just playing with you guys XD

Now, I know this was going to happen at any time, but yes, copper have right and we must follow the rules of the forum if we don't want to get banned. Remember moderators aren't able to do their jobs if they can't understand what we are talking, so that's why he have to emphasize on this. Besides there's a lot of off-topic in this thread when it's a fact that exist threads created to discuss all of this themes. The only problem is that not all of the Hispanic members here present are capable to speak in this language, and this would be a bit unfair for them for not being able to express themselves in the only way as they can. It would be great if Rick could create a little section for Spanish speakers but I suppose we are still not enough so he could considerate it for now.

(Oh god, this curse will haunt me for life XD) Rodrigo, honestly I hate all the social networks no matter if is FB, Twitter, Hi5 or whatever. I am the kind of guy who prefer the old "face to face" way to interact with people so I would never sell my soul to this things and become a no-lifer and slave of technology. Sorry if I am a bit harsh, it's not my intentions to insult anyone. You can feel freely to do whatever you want, but first I recommend ask Rick's permission. ;)

kevin orld, welcome to the forum and to the gang! Glad you like my translations. By the way, nice works you did! but remember this is not the section to post them (just telling you before mods start bugging in your ears  )

I think the idea of Facebook is good, the main thing here is that we participate most, as indicated Gren be consulted with Rick to not incur in a sin, and who knows? may support us with a thread where we can speak our language.

At least one of the guys in the respective thread must speak english and his/her main language (or the translation couldn't be possible )
They could moderate the thread and, in case that someone breaks the rules...that guy could talk with one of the global moderators. Anyway if there is something that stands here, is that all of us (in the hispanic thread) talk in a very "diplomatic and respectfull" way between us so i don't see it to much necessary

OFF:

Back to the work. Well, it seems this arc is going to be a bit difficult to me since I am not an expert with Shakespeare, but as always if you find something wrong or a best translation just tell me and I'll correct it immediately. I'll do my best efforts to finish this arc around Sunday or Monday at most.

So, no pun on the Heath? :(

Also, after much searching, I came to the conclusion that you may mean "trono de reyes" rather than "tronco de reyes".
I'm still having trouble understanding that line though. Why are they talking to Banquo in the third person?

If I understood correctly, the phrase "tronco de reyes" of the written decision of the work (I found it in an adaptation of the work to Castilian), and "tronco" because Banquo is the father of two who can aspire to be kings too (spoiler?¡ ;) ), which is usually in the third person is because as are expressed at the time, giving a more formal tone.
(correct me if I'm wrong :D)

I will just nod slowly and say nothing else.

I have absolutely 0% experience with shakespeare
Knowing that he, sorta, invented many words that weren't used then I can't be of help here.

I think you probably already did, but you should look for the complete work (already traslated) over wich the comic is making references. This way you would have the traslation directly from someone with expertise like someone who has a major degree in languages and is capable of doing a traslation with more quality (and sence).

Sorry, I didn't come up with anything. The same happened to me with the "hail", if you find a better expression I would change it immediately. ;)

And about the "tronco de reyes", I get it the same way as Scampillo explained it, but yes I think is a bit confusing, so maybe I should translate it more literally I guess.

And legendario, yeah I tried to do what you suggested, but it's still a bit complicated (and you can see it with the "tronco de reyes"). Another example could be the tittle of the next strip, in spanish is totally different so it doesn't match with the joke of the last panel.

By the way, sorry for not having translated nothing at all for today, I wasn't expecting to do anything for today but something came up (a birthday surprise party XD), so I hope you don't want to kill me. However I'll promise to do my best for tomorrow.

I think the "hail" substitute is good. Since "salve" also means "save", it's like "save MacB... no really, save him from the hail!"
I looked up tronco in a non-Google-Translate dictionary, and I see how it makes sense now. Is that a more obscure usage of the word? The English version is definitely ancient and nobody probably recognizes it at first. ;)

Puns really are so difficult to translate.

It's one of those funny words that kind of unique to the english language. Not all english words will translate properly into spanish (and vice versa).
Sometimes I find myself trying to over anglicize spanish to "sound" more english like, I like to make things hard on myself I guess?

I guess You could translate the hail (which has more than one meaning) into like salutations or praise. I suppose you could say that this particular joke is slightly lost in translation.

Sorry for the delay, but this week doesn't turned as I was expected. And what it makes it worse is that starting next week I'll be more busy than usual, so don't be expecting large updates, because it would be a miracle if I get to translate two strips per day. At least I could compensate it posting the finished Macbeth's arc. Geez, you don't have idea how much I "suffered" to translate this arc, I can't even say it because it's gonna give me a headache (please, PLEASE, no more Shakespeare! TT_TT). I know it isn't perfect, but I hope you like how I managed to adapted it to Spanish. And if you want to know, I used like four versions of Macbeth's play to guide me in the translations.
