Sensationalist television programs get more viewers and sensationalist stories sell more magazines. They take something benign and try to turn it into a freak show.
On the subject of comics and webcomics, it introduced me to a whole new style of story telling. I love stories with non-human characters and this did it right. They showed anthropomorphic animals in a more dynamic use other than cartoonish comedy in the Warner brothers style. More complex, more daring and sometimes more serious.
But that is a literary tradition that goes back to Greece and Aesop.
If the hate brigades are going to bad mouth works for having anthropomorphic animals, are they going to bad mouth Aesop, Beatrix Potter, or C.S. Lewis? Its absurd. If they don't like it, don't read it.

because this is a forum for a fairly furry web comic that gets advertised on other furry web comics and gets awards and recognition by other furry things such as the Ursa Major awards and a bunch of fans on Fur Affinity.
Furry fans beget more furry fans, while also turning away some of the non-furs who are misinformed on the fandom in general.
at least that's probably why the numbers are so different
Before I came here, I wasn't even truly aware of furries. I'm glad that this forum was my first introduction to the fandom, even if I'm not one myself.

I agree with you that the Housepets comic makes a great medium between those who are into furry and anthro stuff, and people who are familiar with similar mainstream media such as Aesop's fables or most Disney movies. I believe people from all walks of life can find some common ground in Rick's mostly PG comics.

Or his fursona plays CoD and is so good he's like a cobra, so he adopted that as his gamertag. Now the appearance of it in the multiplayer server's player list makes every other player quiver with fear...

My name was actually born when i first saw the internet and yahoo e-mail. My cousin was like "Ok, so what will be your online nic? Remember ~ EVERYONE WILL KNOW YOUR NAME"
I was thinking for a long time I should have a Naga avatar based off of Flamedramon (Thank you, Digimonnnnn) ...but then i just said one day as I was reading this comic ... "I love cats" =3
As for the meaning of my name? I love games. Overwhelming quick-speed shock-and-awe tactics are my specialty =3

I was like that, it wasn't until after properly getting into anthro art that I realised just how much I love dogs.

Heheheh, nailed it! Although, after making my post I got the strange feeling that I'd heard you specifically disliked CoD in the Video Games thread. Although that may have been someone else. *shrug*

I might've. have to go search it up. my brother loves CoD. i loathe it. If redundant was a game, CoD it is. Though i'm not guilty of not getting max level in it either thanks to my brother wanting me to play it with him. >_>
But hey, I love games more than hate them, even if CoD is on the low list. <_<

While that's a shame, I learned to stop living through such moral codes and do the sensible thing. *Dresses up as a Cobra.. a cat in a cobra costume* ... RAWR! *chases Sleet*

My semi-grey cat, Hubbard, absolutely loves belly rubs. Even my step-dad, who is not a fan of it, rubs her because she absolutely comes up with the cutest poses when you do it. I should really get into picture taking.
Sorry, I just assume most cats are guys for some reason! >_< Also, very cool name!
What'sthatontopicyousay? *Emhemglarbleflam*
I've started drawing recently. Being furry has prompted me to brave the only art medium I've never been any good at (that's not to say I'm totally great with all the others though). I will actually have a fursona to show people momentarily! I've tried drawing it a few times but because I'm still new, it's not coming out right.

oh god I can't wait to see that. Don't be so stressed about coming out so right or not, do your best!
Nah my hallucinations are way cooler and involve significantly more explosions and lumberjacks. (No offense tychoaussie giant dogs doing cartwheels at the mall is still pretty cool)
