So sand dollars, when they're alive, are quite gross-looking.

I don't know why but that sand dollar is cute, yet disgusting at the same time.

Yeah, I don't really consider it gross. What's wrong with you, Sleet? You're a future MD and, thus, immune to "gross" things. = P

Calling something gross and being affected by the aforementioned are two different things.

Re: Chat Thread 39: A Heartwarming Children's Movie
The wind is bad where I am too. My truck was getting blown all over the highway today around 3:00 (Before anyone asks, I had to leave school early for a visit to the dentist. I did not skip or leave early without good reason), and it's just kept blowing since then.
But in other news I bought a 5'x3' piece of 1/8" plywood and a 4" long, 1/8" diameter drill bit.
And only after I left the store did I realize I was buying the plywood for a reason that meant I didn't need the bit. So I now have a really, really long drill bit that I'll probably never use unless it turns out using plywood the way I am on what I'm building is against the rules in the competition I'm entering it in.

Because infected humans and stuff totally aren't as gross as a living sand dollar.
I can take the sight of blood and all, but give me an urchin over all of that any day of the week.

There's something manly about a guy in a pick-up truck. |D Why couldn't you live in the south or something, all the ladies would want you.JeffCvt wrote:The wind is bad where I am too. You guuuuys, all this rain is making my ankles hurt. I've fallen and messed them up them several times (luckily the last time was in my freshman year) and now when it rains, I limp. Hurgh.

Strangely enough, it never fails that once or twice a year someone comes up to me and is like "My friend over there likes you. You should go and talk to her" or I get a note from my friend's sister asking me to go out with them.Beagle wrote:Why couldn't you live in the south or something, all the ladies would want you.
I know not all of them were serious, but I'm sure at least one or two of them were. Not to mention Freshman year, one of my friends straight up told me one of my other friends liked me. Does love always make your guys head spin like it does mine?

I've never had a random guy crush on me before, or ask me out on a date. The kind of guys I go after are the more shy and reserved types, so I've never gotten some public display of their feelings for me. I've never really had some prince charming to try and swipe me off my feet. I also generally tend to scare off guys my own age because I'm more mature and independent than my lady-peers. *shrugs*

Yup Beagle I am probably like one of those guys you were talkin 'bout. I have not been in a relationship for a while now (almost a year and a half). It does not help that I tend to clam up and get nervous when I talk to a girl that I like. Plus even if someone showed interest in me they would probably have to put on a laser light show or something because I am helplessly dense!Beagle wrote:I've never had a random guy crush on me before, or ask me out on a date. Yeah. One of my friend's ex girlfriend started flirting with me once and I was just kind of in shock. Apparently crazy girls like me I don't understand the attraction I'm not particularly good boyfriend material. : pJeffCvt wrote:[

Romantic attraction is a pretty popular theme in this thread, it seems. It's come up at least a few separate times in the last month or two.
I guess you could say... it's a hot topic.

Re: Chat Thread 39: A Heartwarming Children's Movie
Only one time has a girl showed interest in me. We had talked some during class in Freshman year, but she was dating someone else, then Sophomore year she asked me to Homecoming. We lasted one awkward year. Apparently the ability to talk about anime in the short time before the teacher tells us to stop does not mean you share enough interest to form a relationship.

I'm a combination of attractive and not interested. X3
I just don't have any long-term ambitions in my love-life. Too much of it goes towards the family, anyway. especially because we're all lazy =P

Re: Chat Thread 39: A Heartwarming Children's Movie
I've never had anyone crush on me (as far as I know) and every girl I've ever thought about asking out has been taken. What's worse is that I like to be friends first so I'm super friendly to girls I don't know but it's often misconstrued as flirting. On that point, I've never had any real trouble talking to girls, either strangers or girls I like. That's not to say I never got nervous though!
Feel like you need a friend? I'm happy to talk anytime!

Re: Chat Thread 39: A Heartwarming Children's Movie
You know what the great part about chasing shy guys is? I can ruthlessly hit on them and they just think I'm being nice because they all assume no girl would ever date them. None of this, "I gotta play hard to get" nonsense. If I'm interested in someone, I'm not going to be distant and aloof, I'm going to be warm and friendly. That could probably counter-react to land me in the friend zone, but I'll find someone eventually. XD If I have to pretend like I'm not interested to make them notice me, that's a red flag for me because I'm not going to pretend in a relationship either.
Some of you shy guys don't know what great catches you are, but as I've already seen several "I'm so oblivious to their flirting!", it will probably just take a girl who very self-confident to "put on a laser light show or something" for you. They exist though, don't worry!

Girls tend to be less vocal than boys when they're attracted to someone, so a lot of guys feel like no one likes them when that's actually not true.

Re: Chat Thread 39: A Heartwarming Children's Movie
Also true. It also doesn't help that we're part of a culture where everyone thinks that the guy is expected to do everything for the girl. He's expected to flirt with her, ask her out on a date, pick her up, pay for dinner, walk her to her door, blah blah blah.Sleet wrote:Girls tend to be less vocal than boys when they're attracted to someone, so a lot of guys feel like no one likes them when that's actually not true.
Of course it's nice that chivalry isn't dead, but I can let a guy know that I'm into him and go Dutch for dinner. I'm confident and I have a job of my own. :V
