Some of us have to be awake at 6:00 A.M. to get up and sit through seven hours and ten minutes of high school. :P

Also I have just been exhausted this week. That's not a good combination with finals tomorrow.

I was exhausted today in school.

Getting an hour less of sleep last night and the pacer test today in Gym just knocked me out in science. I'm just glad we didn't really do anything I had to pay too much attention to. I just laid my head down and rested in the state somewhere between dreaming and reality.

And I feel for you Beagle. I once went to school for a big test when I was super sick. Like, so sick that moving my eyes caused me headaches sick. Probably should have gone to the doctor and stayed home, man that was a bad time. At least you still rest tonight and hopefully be good for tomorrow.

Oh yeah. I forgot how bad high school sucks.

Alright, just a question I want to ask to see if creating a thread for this would be worth it or not.

Does anyone here have any experience in building a boomilever?
(Picture of one)
Image

I'm going to be building one for my school for a science contest, but have no real idea what I'm doing as I haven't done it before. And as far as I know, the one that I build is going to be used on the "A" team because there is no one else to build one with more experience than me.

I've been reading a little about them, but getting to talk to someone who has actually built one would be a great help to me.
If there are enough people willing to talk to me about it, I would like to make a topic. But if there is only one person, it would probably be better to just stick with PMs.

*throws book on the ground with a great deal of rage and frustration*
Oh man if only I could yell out some certain choice words right now.
I don't care, forget this stupid class, I'm done. Physics can leave a B on my transcript by this point. Forget this stupid exam, forget the freakishly high expectations my teacher set for an introductory course, forget all of this nonsense. I had a chance at an A if I could could slaughter the exam, but it's not going to happen. This exam tomorrow can kiss my rear end.
#ragequit

Yup. I'm going to make a chocolate milkshake, bring all the boys to my yard (before someone makes that joke), and burn my physics binder (at least the frivolous garbage anyway) after tomorrow. I'm done.

Wow, never seen a ragequit on a science class.

For some reason, part of me wants to tell you "Good job." But the other part wants me to say "Don't give up."

Hmmm... I ultimately think you're making the right choice if it's making you that frustrated. It's not like this exam is going to determine if you pass or fail the class it seems, so go enjoy that milkshake. And take video of your burning binder, I'd like to see that.

Never tell an irate woman to calm down. Rookie mistake.

After putting forth maximum effort for an entire semester to never make a quiz or test above a 90, I have a right to rage. I had a legitimate shot at being salutatorian or even valedictorian, and I've agonized over this class because it will actually help me in college, while other kids have been taking Spanish online for an easy GPA boost. If I take a class at all, I take it seriously. And this one has infuriated me. I only hope that she pushed us so hard so we can sleep through Physics 101 in college.

@Jeff- I am going to make s'mores with my kindling papers. The sweet satisfaction of knowing that it's over.

(I am actually quite calm. I'm just very, very annoyed.)

Me too. I didn't have teachers that pushed me to do better. They typically started class by saying "shut up, you little monsters!" Or "Listen up, morons!"

Sorry I never texted you back. In my last desperate attempt to do the review packet, I was debating on crying or throwing a paper ball at the wall. This week just has not wanted to end for me. Tomorrow after school (I don't have school until the 23rd after tomorrow!) I'm going to go over to my best friend's house and watch movies. That ought to do the trick for a frustrating week.

@Jeff- Well thank you. You too can learn my art, young Padawan.

@Radio- My teachers aren't disrespectful, some of them just don't teach very well.

Also, my cat is in my room. Snuggles<3

I took the bare minimum amount of math for my major and squeaked by with a C. Math is just a constant reminder of how intellectually inferior I am.

Math is not my forte either. In every school I attempted, even the profiled ones, math always picked on me. Always.

But don't give up on yourself, despite it's hard. You're an intelligent guy and as long as you have will, I'm sure you can do it.

That's a bit harsh. I'm pretty smart (at least in the academic sense) and I've always struggled with math. Some people's minds just lend themselves better to the humaities.

High School has been a lot less stressful for me since I started going to one where I only have to go once a week for three hours, so I don't worry about tests much, especially since I get to use my homework for them. :D

3 hours a week? I wish I could have done that or home school. My high school wasn't that bad even though the teachers essentially told us that we had no future and should not bother to try. Now my middle school was a different story. It is the closest I have ever come to being in an actual prison.

Though, the events leading into the transfer to this awesome school were less than ideal.

Ya see, in 2011, my uncle died, and after that my grades plumeted.

Last year, when my mother died, my father asked me if I wanted to transfer to a school where I would be less stressed, to which I agreed.

So, this was a miracle born of possibly the worst event in my life.

I am so sorry that it had to be under those circumstances. My condolences.

Such a stress free environment would be a godsend to my education. It was hard to focus in English class when the guy behind you periodically flips your ear and then him and his friends jump you and beat the crap out of you in a stairwell or bathroom.

Not to try and totally derail the conversation, but I guess no one knows about or has any interest in possibly helping me with my Boomilever? I'm going to draw the design tonight/tomorrow and get the material on Saturday so I can start building it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Well, that was years ago. Even then if the teachers were not encouraging it, or saying to me not to be a tattletale, or telling me not to be a wimp that needs to fight his own battles, these guys get sent to the office or something lame like that and then they would be back to beating me. Just now they do it twice as hard and twice as often for ratting on them. That school was awful!

Sorry Jeff, I know absolutely nothing that would be beneficial to your project. I'm not really a "builder" type of person for those sorts of things.

So guys. I'm sitting here doing my mandatory discussions for my ENG 112 forums, and all I can say is that if I were to turn in a paper with as much spelling errors, capitalization errors, grammar errors, punctuation problems, and subject-verb disagreements as some of the posts I am seeing there, my high school English teachers would immediately rip my paper in half and punch me in the face. This is a class from the local community college, and there are mostly adults in the classes. One student is an insurance broker and didn't even capitalize the word "I."

Talk about "an 'A' for effort."

Oh the Grammar Nazi in me is twitching violently right now.

Nothing phases me when it's 2 AM and I've been awake for 20 hours straight.

Very late at night and the mid-morning are actually the times in the day when I do my best work. I'm really ready to bust out the scholarship applications, but I know I should probably keep the sleeping schedule of a normal human being for my own benefit later.
