Hello everyone, I am Saturn381 and while I know this has already been tackled before, I thought I would share my ideas of how it would play out.


~Gameplay~

As far as gameplay goes, I could see it in two styles.

style A. something like Virtua Fighter, Tekken, and Dead or Alive

style B. something like Super Smash Bros. and PlayStation All-Stars

Style C. something like Power Stone

Defeat 30 characters in survival mode.

Kevin:
Complete arcade mode with all non-hidden characters at least once.

Defeat Tiger in any mode as Marvin.

"Four Finger Discount" Jack:
Complete arcade mode as any character on either normal or hard difficulty without using any continues.

Rockstar Hawk:
Complete story mode as Miles.

The Ferrets:
Complete tag team mode as any character on any difficulty without using any continues.

Karishad:
Complete story mode as Sabrina, Tarot, and The Ferrets.

Fiddler & Keys:
Defeat all of the characters (including the hidden ones) in any mode at least once.

Though it seems to digress a tad from the comic's canon, I like the idea. It'd be a lot of work, though.
I'm sure someone here is familiar with Fighting is Magic, a fan- made fighting game on the Flash engine based off of the charasters of MLP:FIM. As far as I know, that game has been in "pre- alpha" for almost two years! :D

Well...it could always be the Miltons just used what the cast looks like and thought of how they would fight, and then make it a game in-universe to...that would KINDA justify the violence

and when he doesn't, he is usually either being threatened with it, or humiliated.....ALOT...not that he doesn't deserve it 99.999999% of the time(that 0.000001 is when Bailey punched him....and even THATS debatable)

But regardless, fighting game with Housepets! cast which includes adorable and cutely looking pets just doesn't fit with a fighting game in my opinion. I wouldn't like to see them kicking, punching or doing anything else similar to each other. But that's just me.

If you want a good fic involving housepets! characters in an RPG setting, kind of like Tron, kind of like a tabletop thing, look for Penwrite's unfinished fic. It was a pretty good example.

I could totally picture a Housepets! fighting game. One-on-one though, not Smash Brothers-like and more like Kingdom Hearts meets Street Fighter. Brooms, shovels, books, staffs, maces, water guns, the works.

Hey thanks for taking interest in this guys. Now here's a question. What are some of your ideas for unlocking the hidden characters?

Here's two examples.

Daisy:
Beat the game once on any difficulty and setting.

Mr. Bigglesworth:
Each character (including the hidden ones) has their own individual course in training mode to master all of their moves. Complete all of their courses, and Mr. Bigglesworth will become playable.

well Bailey's unlock is fairly obvious. Beat story mode as King

and the player should get the "FACE" achievement if they beat Bino as Bailey.

To unlock Lester, beat Story Mode with Joey.

Karishad will be unlocked when you beat Story Mode using Sabrina, Tarot, and The Ferrets.

Zach will be unlocked if you beat Tiger(which mode is not important) using Marvin.

Fiddler&Keys will be unlocked if you fought all the characters(including unlockables) at least once.

Tarot will be unlocked if you beat Penut, Grape, and Max with Sabrina.

Kevin will be unlocked if you used all the non-unlockable charcters at least once.

Tarot would be unlocked by finding the TV Remote.

It's been awhile since the last time I've updated this hasn't it?

Anyway 4 more ideas.

1.As far as side characters go, would it be okay if I include fan characters or not?

2.Do you think the costumes should be homages to movies and games, something from the comic, or a mixture of both (if so, what do you think they should be)?

3.Since I've been planning on making Pete, Dragon, and Kitsune secret bosses, do you think the main boss should original or something from either the comic or a fanfic?

4.How do think the endings for the characters should play out in story mode?

Maybe the main boss should be one of the charaters mind-controlled controlled by a certain being

Example:

Rex's story boss:a Pete controlled Daisy.

Karishad's story boss: a Pete controlled Keene.

Daisy's story boss: a Kitsune controlled Rex.

Max's boss: a Dragon controlled Grape.

Grape's boss: a Pete controlled Penut

Lester's boss:a Kitsune controlled Joey

Karishad's story end: Keene makes an announcement to the other ferrets that, due to him owing "someone" a favor, he is publishing "Karisad's Pun Book!". Keene then facepalms and sighs, saying "I hate that fox...so much..." The screen then goes black with only the sound of Keene groaning being heard.

Max's story ending: a white screen with the word "5 years later" in red on it. It then cuts to Max and Grape on the end of a date. Max then gives Grape a note we don't get to see, then produces a ring while getting on his knees. Grape then answers his question by grabbing his collar and pulling him into a kiss. The screen then turns black, with church bells being heard in the background.

Daisy's story ending: Daisy and Rex discussing names. After Daisy suggests several names, Rex then suggests "Lily". Daisy then laughs at his pun while saying "Yes". Then screen then goes to a photo of Daisy and Rex each holding one hand a younger dog that looks like a gray and younger version of Daisy, revealing they were discussing names for Daisy's and Rex's child. "Hi, my name's Daisy!" can then be heard as the screen goes black.

Grape's story ending: Grape, having just beat up Penut in the boss fight, is shown cradling a badly beaten Penut's head in her arms, telling him despreatly him to not die. Unlike most character endings, you'll only get her GOOD ending if you beat her story mode without getting a "game over".
Her good one: Tarot then appears beside her, she then heals Penut. Penut then slowly opens his eyes, asking Grape what happened. Grape, seeing Penut's expression, laughs, then tells him she'll tell him some other time. The screen then goes black as Grape and Penut laughing like little children can be heard in the backround.
Her bad one: Sabrina appears before Grape, only to inform her it's to late. Grape, knowing she had just killed her brother, breaks down in uncontrolable sobbing, while Sabrina tries to comfort her. The screen then goes black, with the only Grape's sobbing being heard.

Lester's strory ending: It shows Joey and Lester arguing about Lester apparently cheating. while Kammotavva(the dalmation) looks curiously at them. Like certain other characters, his ending depends on whether or not you got a game over while playing as him.
Good end: Kammotavva snaps and yells at them to shut up, shocking both dogs. Kammotavva then demands they apologize to each other, which they begrudgingly do. After a breif silence, Joey thanks Lester for saving him from Kitsune, which Lester responds to by hugging Joey, telling him it's what freinds do. The screen then goes black as Kammotavva says "LETS PLAY DND!!" followed by Joey and Lester saying "YEAH!" in unison.
Bad end: the fight escalates into a shouting match, culminating in Joey admitting he can't stand Lester because of his attitude and always ruining DnD and other things by complaining to much about it, even if Lester saved him from Kitsune. Lester then asks why are they freinds then. A still angry Joey responds by kicking Lester out of his house, effectivly ending his freindship with him. Lester relizes what just happen, but it's to late to apologise. The screen then goes black as you hear Lester's soft muffled cries, knowing he just lost his only freind.

Getting Grape's "bad ending" will unlock one of her costumes, which has her fur matted with dirt, her eyes are bloodshot and dull, and and her fur around her eyes wet from tears.

Also, as you may have notice I putted a lot of of people in side characters slot. I do have ideas on how some of the side characters should interact, but let's hear some of your guys' ideas.

Oh, I just saw this thread! I love fighting games, are you planning to do it with mugen or you'll compile the code by yourself?

Now with cellphone I have difficulties, when I'll go home maybe I'll think about some ideas.

I think it's just ideas. No art or anything. But it would be neat =3

I doubt I would have the time to toy around with it, but sometime next year if i'm lucky i would like to practice sprite animations and have loads of fun doing it =3

As for making this into an actual game, as GameCobra said these are more discussion ideas on how it would play out. I don't know how use mugen.

As for art, I am no artist and it's been years since I have actually drawn something, but if you guys are interested in making art for this I wouldn't mind.

As for the cameos, perhaps a movie poster with Primo on it could appear inside's Joey's house(which could be Joey's and Lester's stage)

If there's a forest stage(which could be Miles and Rockstar Hawk's stage), perhaps we could have Poncho chasing Falstaff and Truck in the backround, while badly failing.

Duches could appear in King's(his stage could be in Joel's jail cell) winning animation, where King could look around, spot someone, then runs off screaming. After a second, we could see Duchess running across the stage, love whip in hand, in the direction King ran off.

...um...could Mint(from my fic) and Kammotavva(Joey's dalmation freind) appear in Lester's winning animation, where before he can do anything, Mint and Kammotavva run on screen, lift him up, and then throw him in the air again and again while congratulating him on winning.

I figured since I'm always busy, i'll post the crazy ideas I have here for everyone to see. =3

Using the Capcom arcade style of button pressing (LP,MP,HP,LK,MK,HK) I went with these ideas. Today I'll use Peanut as a example:

Peanut

Fight Introduction:
Peanut is excited to be in a fighting game! So he naturally jumps in and starts acting the part. He puts up his dukes upon seeing the fighter and glares at them, but hides a smile behind his fists as the fun begins!

Idle Animation: Bouncing Boxing. He does tiny hops from his left and right foot as he watches on.
Jumping Animation ~ Forward: Anxiously jumping forward with his mouth wide open, happy to be the aggressor.
Jumping Animation ~ Backward: Anxiously jumping backward, giving off a smirk as he waits for his opponent's move.
Crouching: Kneels on one leg and watches his opponent carefully, still maintaining his boxing dukes.

Light Punch - A Quick jab forward.
Medium Punch - A long reaching straight punch.
Hard Punch - A lunging, fierce punch.
A(Air). Light Punch - A Quick jab forward.
A. Medium Punch - A double palm strike
A. Hard Punch - Hammers you with both his fists.
C(Crouch). Light Punch - Fast hand wipe.
C. Medium Punch - claps both hands
C. Hard Punch - A high rising uppercut.

Light Kick - A innocent tap with his foot to the opponent's foot.
Medium Kick - Goes for a innocent knee to the opponent's stomach.
Hard Kick - A innocent kick to the opponent's mid-section, but this kick forces Peanut to stretch his foot all the way out, so he really can't hold back.
A. Light Kick - curls up into a cannonball and taps the opponent with his shouder.
A. Medium Kick - stretches both feet out and tries to push them on the opponent's head.
A. Heavy Kick - stretches one of his feet out with full power and tries the old fashioned jump kick approach.
C. Light Kick - quick poke with the tip of his foot.
C. Medium Kick - goes for a doublt foot-tap
C. Heavy Kick - Slides both feet underneath the opponent. Trips them.

Special Moves ~

Triple Combo - Peanut goes for a boxing combo, pushing forward with two hooks and a uppercut afterwards.
Rolling uppercut - Peanut rolls forward and flies into the air with a uppercut.
Tornado - Peanut stretches his fists out and does the tornado.
Writer's Block - Peanut will pause for a moment as he reflects the silliness of the situation. If he's hit with a physical blow during this time, he will immediately hit his opponent with Spot's Punch, immediately followed by the words "PUNCH" on screen. This will knockdown the opponent immediately.

Hyper Combos ~

Level 1 - Jumping to the Call

Peanut will hear a knock on his side of the screen and immediately leap off the screen to answer it, only to clash with the opponent from the other side of the screen. In addition to damage, the opponent is stunned.

Level 1 - Cat out of the Bag

Peanut will briefly reflect himself as Spot saving Stripe in the fight. This will double his movement speed for 8 seconds.

Level 3 - Wake-up Call

Peanut suddenly starts to worry. He will scream the name "GRAPE" and deliver a massive 30 hit combo for as long as he shouts her name.

To tell you the truth, I am not much of a gamer, so I cannot help in that aspect, but this sounds like you are going for a simple flash game, right? For a first game, you might not want to get too involved, and focus on one storyline with divergent branches. The start of each being the character you choose in the beginning. I see a lot of good ideas in here though. :roll:

I know I probably just reiterated what has already been said, but I am not a video game person at all, so please forgive me!

Well as stated before, this is more about sharing ideas on how it would play out. I don't really know how to use flash or mugen.

For the game, i think the "imaginate session" would be awesome to unleash fantasy in fights. A game style that would fit imo is the Max Anarchy/Power Stone type, no technicalities and hardcore characteristics, simple fun and dynamic arenas. Practically, if someone will work on it someday, a classic 2D type with mugen would be better, a Max Anarchy type would stole too much time (and is not easy at all to produce)

Holy crap I actually come back to this thing. Been awhile hasn't it?

Anyway before we begin coming up with ideas I have 2 questions to ask.

First question is the characters. You may have notice I've change some of the characters like changing Miles from hidden to playable, turning side characters like Mizar, Spike, and Alcor into playable, or adding new ones like Tegan and Eyesight. Do you guys think this idea works or not?

Next question is the music. For the ones that have only one music like the opening or Fox, do you think the music I've chosen works. For the ones I that have more that one music like the party mode or Tarot, which ones do you think are the more fitting.

Now lets move on with the ideas. There isn't really any new ideas yet but rather bringing back old ideas which are side characters, costumes.

For the costumes, what are some of your ideas on what some characters should where like something from a movie, or a video game.

For the side characters, how do you think they should appear and play out like how should Allegra play out in Fox's ending or how should Lucky and Felix appear.

I have one idea for both Cadence and Squeak:
In a way similar to both Kammotavva and Mint. One of Joey's victory poses would have both Cadence and Squeak running up to him and giving him a hug. He responds by hugging them back.
