From what I know, they prefer retro style, everything that is old strikes their fancy, like striped clothes, wear sunglasses with colored/coloured frames and even in summer they tend to wear scarfs. Correct me if I'm wrong.
My friend also told me that a hipster never admits that... he's a hipster.

Affiliating yourself with a group is conformity. No TRUE hipster would do that.

being a hipster is too mainstream for a true hipster. It's a label we put on them and they don't like it.

So in short is someone who likes all things retro and old, refuses group conformity, hates being called a hipster as it is too mainstream, and will never admit to being a hipster. Is that right?

Except in formal settings, I usually wear what's the most comfortable or closest to me. I don't care about fashion, so I'm fine with being conformist in that.

I love retro and vintage stuff. I just don't like being called a hipster because most of them are seen as jerks (and the few that I've met are).

Being labelled as hipster is kind of insulting. It's a good thing no one ever sees me as a hipster.

Well, I personally don't meet Hipsters often beside those who attended to my school. They were actually friendly, but their clothing was somewhat weird to me.
But I guess most of them may be jerks since a lot of Hipsters have connection with fine arts.

I believe the term 'hipster' comes from the word 'hip', as in: clothing and styles that are 'hip' or 'in style'.

Since people who are labeled as 'hipsters' tend to oppose anything and everything that could be construed as 'mainstream', the name becomes ironic as their fashion sense isn't actually all that hip. But since a lot of people have taken a liking to the non-conformist attitude, being a hipster itself has become a mainstream 'fashion'. So hipsters are kind of in an paradoxical limbo at the moment.

But isn't it true that people who are being called by us hipsters wear clothes that no other people know they're trendy, but stop wearing them when they appear in stores as a hipster fashion and switch to something else? That's what at least I found.

In my experience Hipster is more of a mindset than a style. It's all about liking things ironically and disliking most if not all popular stuff.
Then again trying to define a social group is kind of pointless as it's pretty much impossible and all about personal interpretation.

On a different note, I writing research paper on the multi-verse theory so... anyone know anything about it? In short its the theory that every action is actually carried out in alternate reality of sorts making so anything that could have happened does, but within the contents of a different reality. In example, if you thought about robbing a bank. You don't because you're a good person, but due to the fact thought about doing it, a separate you in a different timeline does and is caught, but because this you were caught an other fracture is created were in a different timeline were another you didn't it caught and so on. So does anyone know anything about that kind of stuff?
