JohnWillow wrote:I'm loving the comic Scratch, you have a good grasp on Rick's style of comedy. I am interested to know who Fox was talking about to his squeaky bone, i hope that answer comes soon. The only critic i can possibly offer is that i think Fox looks a bit feminine and ironically Grape looks Butch
Glad to hear you like it!

Fox was actually talking to his squeaky bone in that comic and as for him and grape looking weird I'm still kind of trying to figure out how to draw them. so if a character looks "off" it's safe to assume that I couldn't get them to look quite right. I'm still trying to figure out how to draw each character in a way that they look similar to how they look in the real comic without completely mooching off of Rick's style. (I'll admit I do that from time to time)

now that I think of it isn't grape kinda butch in the comic though? correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there a story arc with her trying to be more feminine? I do know that Peanut thought she was a guy in the beginning.

also update coming soon...hopefully...

Yay! Update!

Gee-willikers! The last panel of this comic was driving me crazy! I could not for the life of me get Pete to look right. I had literally redrawn him 20 times or more before I finally got him to look mostly how I wanted him. Even though I haven't updated my comic in a while doesn't mean I haven't been busy. Head on over to Jeffcvt's fan comic thread herehttp://www.housepetscomic.com/forums/vi ... =13&t=1890 to see his stories as well as a little somethin' somethin' that he asked me to do for him.

When I upload these on my computer I take a picture with a camera first and then crop out the extra stuff. It's blue because of the lighting when I took the picture.

I love how Pete is dangling the soul of Fox so carelessly from a string just to taunt King.

Oh poor King, all this stress must be getting to him.

thanks I thought I needed an avatar by now so I used a picture I drew that's kind of related to my fanfic but I won't post the whole picture until it becomes relevant

:D I know I make King out to look a little stupid but in this case I think he just doesn't want to agree to anything he doesn't have to.

and now without further ado...

copper wrote:Oh poor King, all this stress must be getting to him.
oh you don't even know the kind of stress that's in store for him  but seriously, this comic is going to get a little dark (but still PG-13!) and really challenge the bonds of friendship, I don't want to spoil anything but lets just say that this is the first of many strips that end on a serious note. Since these strips will either end with dark humor(which I know isn't for everyone) or without a joke, and because I find the subtext idea absolutely genius! I thought I would try a little subtext, or after...text, whatever you know what I mean. anyway here it goes...

Hmm... I must say that you surprised me with your declaration about dark humor and seriousness. So far I had a feeling that you were aiming for cartoonism and comedic situations, which so far you were doing pretty well.

I may have worded that wrong. What I meant is that the story is going to have it's serious moments and I'm not really going to soften them up that much because, well, The reader needs to feel what the characters are feeling. Pete will use dark humor at times because, lets face it, Pete's a jerk. Nevertheless this is still a story that takes place in the house pets universe so I will keep it true to the kind of humor Rick uses so don't worry about the story ending like The Departed or anything. ;)

ps. thank you saying I'm doing a good job, and not just you but everyone who comments you guys have been awesome and patient with me, so thanks.
(whoa, Drama Bomb!!!) speaking of drama bombs, this part of my fanfic reminds me of an episode of adventure time.(yes I watch this show and I ain't ashamed!) here's a few clips

The trade is a fraud. Souls are not meant to be owned but by those born with it, and even then they are kept in strict custody in heaven. King can't trade his soul for Fox's, unless that soul is immediately returned to heaven or given to Fox.
But...is there really ANY soul to trade? All King is seeing is a pretty watch. I find it quite hard to believe that Pete could actually steal ANOTHER soul, not after getting caught & mauled by Cerberus for grabbing one.

What will happen to King? Will he submit to Pete's bargain? Or will he doom his one and only friend to a fate unimaginable?
Unfortunately those questions will not be answered in this strip.

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!
Their chief weapon is surprise. And fear. Fear and surprise. Two, their two main weapons are surprise and fear. And ruthless inefficiency. Three! Their three main weapons are surprise, fear, ruthless inefficiency, and an almost fanatical devotion to freezebags.

I like it! I love it! I want some more of it! :D

and so with the introduction of these two knuckleheads we find ourselves at the beginning of chapter 2!
Chapter 2:"King Nothing"
"King has a date with destiny."

"so what does that make us?"

"The Chauffeurs."
Image

I redid the brother's patterns, I think they look much better now. the colors are white on their underside and lower part of the face. brown on the "mask" part of the their pattern, and then grey on the tops of their heads and down their backs.
