Five years of Houspets!
Five years of Houspets!
Can you believe it, guys?
We're entering the FIFTH year of our favorite comic! This calls for a celebration of a masterwork that NEVER ceased to entertain us on so many leveles!
Do any of you remember the special card we made for the second year of HP? I think we should collectively sign another one!
If you agree, or if you had something else in mind, let's share the ideas here.
Happy fifth birthday, Housepets!

5 years old.... that is quite young, let us all send Rick Birthday Cakes!!!
But seriously, a card sounds wonderful. Housepets has given me a lot, and anything I can do, I will.

Rick has given me one of my favorite comics ever as well as so many wonderful friends. Thank you for Housepets!, Rick!

Last time, it was a small one, as the membership was smaller.
We need a BIG card now.
I propose to add the Ursa Major Award logo at the top of the card. Just to make it clear who's DA WINNER.
Then there's the illustration... I was thinking about one big drawing with the 5 yrears banner and our signatures all around it.
Your ideas?

Re: Five years of Houspets!
I say we ask _Stu_ to draw an image for the card with all of the Housepets! characters (and maybe a few of the more prominent members from here and the IRC, but probably not) having a party with a banner (or however he'd want to draw it and convey what it's for) and have the signatures around that.
of course that may well be too much to ask of him. just puttin' ideas out there.

Re: Five years of Houspets!
we got one year of time to elaborate a proper project, I don't think we should hurry here, as long as we do it right.
Sent a heads-up to Stu, just to make sure

Re: Five years of Houspets!
of course, none of this would be a surprise cause Rick could easily read this. oh well.
Re: Five years of Houspets!
I don't think knowing will make it less pretty for him.
Hopefully...
Anyway, i think it's better to coordinate the project here, rather than going crazy with PMs.

Msn is da way to keep a secret u.u
Btw i'm honored to be a part of this plan. I'll do it, i just warn that it may take... a little, to be complete. Real life issues, y'know
Oh, one more thing. For all the signs, if you want you can do it on a white page (possibly without stripes and checks (google translate, i hope is correct)), scan the page and pass it to me to add it on the card

Well, I can't draw. So from my side it would be something resembling a text.

I think it would be more meaningful if Sleet did all the artwork.

I wouldn't mind, really. His stick figures actually look cool and have an unique style. He draws them with such a dynamic, specific line. And he's good at showing their emotions.Dissension wrote:I think it would be more meaningful if Sleet did all the artwork.

This would have made more sense if it was 10th year of Housepets! or something. Congratulations and so on.

Re: Five years of Houspets!
Perhaps we should ask Rick to stop reading this thread so we can do sometime in secret. Diss and I are in here so it's not like there's gonna be anarchy.
By the way I actually can draw normally, just not super-well.Karlos wrote:I wouldn't mind, really. His stick figures actually look cool and have an unique style. That pic... somehow it make me feel... so old...
Anyways, I think we should move this somewhere else. Like Stu suggested, MSN or something similar. Even PM's.

Rename the topic to Max Anarchy (spam fest inside)
Jokes apart, what about elaborate something, make a general call and cooperate to make a unique drawing? It's not easy, but it would be interesting to unite different styles in one. Maybe one of us draw something then pass the image to another one, who draw his part, so to the end. And then signs and everything. What do you think?

That sounds like a good idea, but what about people who have no artistic ability at all? Shouldn't we make sure that this is something everyone can do and feel proud of?

Re: Five years of Houspets!
You know, technically, it's only 4 years old! 4 years of archives, etc
Hmm, somewhere in the vicinity of 600 strips, too, though I'm not sure how many guest/filler strips I still have up
Love the picture *giggles*

which is why Val said we have a year to get this done.rickgriffin wrote:You know, technically, it's only 4 years old! 4 years of archives, etc

I could attempt a Housepets! limerick.
Re: Five years of Houspets!
it's not important xD the important thing is to make something all together, like a team. everyone with his own style, it's just a little present from fans to rick.JeffCvt wrote:That sounds like a good idea, but what about people who have no artistic ability at all? of course We should start and decide what to draw, and everyone who wants to join is welcome. than we'll decide roles and We'll study the structure of the drawing. the ones who didn't work on the picture can add his sign to thank rick don't worry about things like "omg i cannot draw anything", it's not a contest, it's something We should do all together xD

Re: Five years of Houspets!
Yea, but what I'm saying is I want it to be something that I'm proud of. If I do anything drawing related at all, I will never be proud of it. I'm just that bad.
Now I'm not that bad at doing things in Paint, so I could maybe help if something with that is needed.

Re: Five years of Houspets!
Wow, you people really run with this. I cannot keep up so fast! I work for a living here...
Seriously, I would enjoy adding anything I can, even if it is a little poem or limmerick, since I cannot even draw a straight line.
My signature, as some of my friends here can attest, is to put a copper nugget into the envelope my letter is in. That would be my signature.
And I think I know how to keep this secret from Rick. If you want to know, just PM me, so Rick doesn't find out. I'll PM Valerio the suggestion as well.

Re: Five years of Houspets!
who is more intelligent?
this just came to my mind
and I'm thinking about drawing whole bunch of fanarts of how I predict Housepets are going to look like when they grow up. with computer editings.
