Okay, that was scary cute. King..... jeez, King! Making me want a corgi now.... *runs off to my corgi contact*

So how many trophies are there? Two at least. Why not go for them all?

It was really weird. When I saw the first panel, I first thought... "Wait, is there a talent portion to the contest? Because it looks like she's going to use King as a ventriloquist dummy."

Must admit that they both look cute in first 2 panels, despite that King's smile makes him look like a puppet xD

Oh god, I lost it at "snugglepup". XD

Also, King's eyes look terrifyingly empty in the first panel. It's great. It almost wish that King had a little stump tail to wag along with Duchess though. Lol.

Duchess is proving what they say about beauty.

King, do you have any integrity or honor, really? :( You're going along with all of this and it's probably not worth it! This may be why you've always been a loser: you don't know how to make GOOD choices. :(

Well then...leave it to Duchess to screw up something so loving and adorable...bad lady! I just hope King's still conscious by the end of this arc :)

Then by that logic when it comes time for him to make his choice whether to be a dog or a human again, he'll pick the wrong choice then. Yeah basically that implies unhappiness is the only option for him.

I think that the way he is sitting makes it look like she is holding him like a puppet, and with that it makes his eyes seem more like a puppet. He also seems to be looking straight at the reader while Duchess seems to be looking at where the judge is. This is just my theory, but I like the panel the way it is. It kinda shows how they are acting and not actually in love.

Yeah, I don't see anything wrong with the first panel, personally. Unless King wasn't supposed to look like his eyes are glazed over?

I figured he was supposed to look uncharacteristically happy, as every fiber of his being must have been screaming out in pain to listen to all that empty, mushy drivel that Colleen was putting on for the judges. So he just kinda had to zone out for it; and in that respect, I think it came out brilliantly.

Edit:

It is very odd; I don't see how it's a 'more likely' conversation. Given the one in the comic was provided by the author, isn't it the more likely of the two?

Duchess isn't Colleen.

I also see no problem with the first panel. It's a little odd if you look at it hard enough, but a lot of stuff is like that.

NOT what I meant. <facepalm>

Bailey doesn't CARE if he has a cell or not: this is mainly for HIM. I have the feeling that it would make Bailey (and for that matter, Fox) sad to see him demeaning himself like this and feigning romance for her sake. How would that make her feel?

And remember, this is the guy who does NOT support the King and Bailey pairing talking.

I really doubt he's doing this for duchess's sake.
and as you saw a few strips ago it's difficult for him to get any kind of privacy using a house phone.

I actually like this arc. Even though it's about King, it still gives some depth about the dog beauty vanity show contests in the Housepets! universe. Totally liking the snobby attitude of the show dogs(Duchess and Colleen).

There's a TV show called American Stuffers about a place that taxidermizes recently deceased pets. It's not like that isn't a thing that happens.
but this is off topic, as King hasn't been taxidermized.

The first panel is hysterical! His blank smile just screams "I'm dying on the inside!"

It does look like a ventriloquist act gone wrong!
