DEEEEERRRRRRRRPYYYYYYYY!
Edit: Also, Pinkie's "demon voice" when the promise was broken is possibly the scariest thing I have ever heard. o.o

Re: My Little Pony
So, I was at a friend's (Zander) house, watching the Live Stream.
I left the room for a minute and he secretly put a whole bunch of Brony Music on my iPhone.
I went to Chick-Fil-A to get some noms and I forgot how loud my stereo was.
I plugged the iPhone into the car and opened my library.
Shuffle was on, I was in the drive through, and the windows were wide open.
All of a sudden, my stereo is blasting, "My Little Pony, My Little Pony!"
Just to make this better, there were like 10 people walking next to my car.
Never have I ever been more embarrassed in my life.
I then proceeded to crouch down and hide my identity.
People were still trying to look at me and they were laughing.
When I got back to Zander's house, I had a thing or two to say.

Re: My Little Pony
you should have remembered how loud your stereo was. he did you a favor by putting the music on there.
I think this new episode may be my favorite. but I still prefer BaldDumboRat's voice for derpy. This voice made her sound a little more like a colt.

Anyway, I loved Pinkie in this episode, particularly the demon voice and when she talks nonstop to people. The I Love Lucy reference was still awesome, and it's great that Derpy is now canon! Her voice is too low, though. The chariot scene was awesome, particularly when Applejack tries to evade them by going behind a train, forgetting they're being pulled by pegasi. I haven't seen the movie in a while, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a nod to Ben Hur in that scene. Can anyone verify on?
Overall that episode was fantastic. I love it!

Re: My Little Pony
I actually quite like Derpy's voice; as far as I can tell, it's pretty similar (if not the same) as the voice they used for her when she originally said "Muuuuufffiiiiins." back in S1. Either way, I had to stop the clip and make a post in the FiM group I'm in on FB as soon as Dash called her 'Derpy'. I was ecstatic. XD The whole scene with her was just awesome.
That said, the episode as a whole was great too. Definitely one of the best yet, if I'm perfectly honest. For one thing, Applejack finally got her own episode in S2! It's been like 30+ episodes since she's had one, so I figure it was about time. And the ending with Pinkie and Rarity was absolutely priceless.
The one thing that really bothered me though was how absolutely insistent the mayor was with AJ bringing back the prize money in the beginning. :/ That whole scene I was kinda waiting (and hoping) someone would call her out and be like, "Hey, the money really isn't that important." and then no one did. Basically the last words AJ got as she was leaving was, "Don't forget the moneeeey~" Even at the end of the episode, the mayor's there with everyone else, smiling and welcoming her back... but there's no mention of the money that she was practically obsessing over in the beginning. I still say it was one of the best episodes yet, but that did bother me in retrospect.

Yeah, she kind of does!
I also like how they called it Dodge Junction so later in the episode Applejack could say "get the heck out of Dodge."

That, and Pinkie's "abandon ship" maneuver after AJ 'kind of' apologized. :p

Re: My Little Pony
Hey, I just realized something. This is the second time this season that Pinkie Pie and Rarity have been stuck in some kind of situation together because of the pink pony. The first time was in the second part of the season premier, when they got tangled up by the rope and dragged out of the balloon while chasing Rainbow Dash.
Gosh, Pinkie and Rarity don't have much luck when chasing ponies, do they?

Re: My Little Pony
Haha, I hadn't even realized that. Good catch!
Pinkie's just bad at teamwork when chasing people. She can only do it by herself (case in point: Party of One).

I fail to see what the big deal was about. So a fan-loved character finally speaks and is called by the fan name? It's just fanservice, no big.

Re: My Little Pony
it's more proof that they listen to the bronies for things that don't really matter to anyone other than them.
Re: My Little Pony
Derpy isn't just a fan-loved character, she's pretty much a fan-made character. From a simple animation error/easter egg bronies created a whole personality, backstory, and family, even a name. That the show creators have adopted that name and basic personality is definitely more than just "no big".Foxstar wrote:I fail to see what the big deal was about. Re: My Little Pony
Whoa. Anime opening much? Lol.
That's really cool though. I like the sound of the song (especially the part in the middle when they stop the lyrics and just have the singers going "Oooooooo" in the background). Makes me wish they handled opening themes like some animes do, with new clips and a new song for each season. :3

That is an incredibly awesome opening.
Re: My Little Pony
So, apparently there are a lot of people (mostly those who were born in the early 80s) who are making a huge fuss over "Derpy" being canonized, saying it was a really bad move on Hasbro and Studio B's part because the word 'derp' used to be a derogatory term that people used to call those who are diagnosed with mental dysfunctions (like down-syndrome and the like).
Thoughts?

Re: My Little Pony
I think that if it had that meaning at one point, it's become removed enough that it doesn't really matter anymore.
Re: My Little Pony
Sure: I think if I met such people I would ask them if they actually have any kind of literary (or otherwise) attestation to the word being used in that context at all! The first attested use of 'derp' outside of being an acronym that I can find is a 1998 film by the creators of South Park!
I was going to make a joke but then I did.
Re: My Little Pony
South Park also said "or everything is okay to joke about or nothing is okay".
I think it was in that Simpsons and Family Guy crossover.

South Park invented the term "derp," and it had nothing to do with the mentally dysfunctional. The context is "Wow Rob Schneider's movies sure are dumb."

Well that's not exactly mentally handicapped people either so my point still stands.
I can't say I exactly remember much from that episode since I spent so much time watching and re-watching the Loch Ness monster scenes, completely overshadowing the rest.
