Yeah, That's a pretty good starting camera. I have the Canon Rebel T1i and it's 15.1 megapixel. :3

Also, I'm going to a state park in a couple of days to take some shots of the foliage, I'll try to post a couple here if I get anything good.

@Mr. Noms- I really like that, it's interesting, but I'm pretty sure that's not a photograph. :P It's still cool, though!

@Jesse James- Pictures load up slowly for me, so I saw the beautiful scenery /first/, and /then/ I saw the random winter sign. :P

Shot with a cheap 4mp point and shoot camera, no additional effect, all natural lighting, so it's surprisingly hard(lucky) to get my dog "pose" for me, so I like how this came out anyway. *shot*
I wish there were more scenery around where I live, but then lots of people here post scenery here so nevermind.

This was for an assignment tited "lighting and contrast", but I'll leave it up to you guys to interpret it however you want. *shot*

And if you like that, then you might like this as well, with a similar theme, for the same assignment, but a tad bland

Yes this camera doesn't handle exposure well, even worse in low light condition, so I usually choose either dawn or dusk for my photo.

I like the focus and the colors, its a beautiful sun, but it does feel alittle empty in the middle. I just feel like a person or some form of subject in the middle would be a nice addition.

Yeah. Spontaneous shots are baklava like that, powerful and fleeting. I shot this a 2 years ago at Icon, just looked at at last summer again surfing pics and did a re-edit I didn't know of then. Weird what photos can become at times.

This was one of those rare occasions

I'm in a Photoshop class (I already know Photoshop, ergo this is a super easy class) and they told us to get pictures of ourselves posing :?: and nature

Naturally I decided to have some fun with the camera and got this, which is My Favorite Picture EVUR!!!
...so far

Hahahaha

People were telling me they would like to see at least few of my works. So I've decided to make them happy :)
Part of my project I'm working on in local animal shelter, using traditional, fully manual camera. It's scanned from negative, so it doesn't have true quality. Such photos look much better when they get printed in black room. Planning to do that with this fella soon.

What scanner are you using? We have negative scanners here at my school and they work good so long as they're inserted correctly.

Hmm. Some Nikon one. Don't know what model exactly since it's new in my school workshop. But it scans okay.
But personally I prefer to make normal prints on multigrade paper.

I prefer digital conversion because you can greatly expand 35mm shots to much bigger sizes without loss of quality. Plus frack spot fixing manually. If I wanted to paint, I'd have been a painter.

Not for me. Though digital photography made a huge progress, it's still not close to perfection of chemistry.
Silver halides have the ability to absorb light, which makes them reflect reality without any psychical barriers. So it will truly express optical density, depending how much each silver halide absorbed.
Of course, making a print in Black Room takes time and digital prints are much faster. However remember one thing - in computers, colors are programmed. You don't know do you have them all. So there will always be some loss. You don't have such things in analogues.
Besides, each pixel has like 0,28mm, while a single AgBr has less than 1 micrometer.

EarlMadness wrote:

Word "photography" comes from two words: greek "photos" (light) and "graphos" (I write, paint, draw). If you'll try to translate those two words correctly, they will actually mean "light painting". So each time you take a snapshot, you paint reality that surrounds you. But instead of watercolors or pigments, you use light.

The colors may be programmed, but they're programmed by people who excel at what they do. I trust them to do right by me. For all the clarity you might get via silver halide's, you'll lose with temperature changes between prints and the expense in chemicals, etc. I love film as much as the next aficionado, but I understand it's limitations. As I understand the limitations of digital. I have scanned in negatives as I have printed them, they have not looked exact, but they have looked very similar. Enough so, that I would take the ease and protect-ability of a digital file to a single master negative that can easily be scratched or corrode without meticulous care.

"Word "photography" comes from two words: greek "photos" (light) and "graphos" (I write, paint, draw). If you'll try to translate those two words correctly, they will actually mean "light painting". If I had wanted to be literal as well, I'd make my own life miserable. I know what photography comes from and we do not paint. I'm not talking high-minded ideals, I'm referring to the basic, physical act of picking up a paint brush and trying to render detail. Something I have no patience for nor passion. Plus, to be fair, I was referring to spot fixing, which if it hadn't been taken out of context and attempted to be defined literally, would have still referred to. Sorry if that comes off as rude, but I just don't appreciate people cutting phrases or points from discussions and attempting to discuss or define them separate from their context. I feel they lose all relevant meaning at that point and make the whole exercise pointless.

Lastly, what the heck is going on with this page all of a sudden? Why is it stretching into infinity like this? [Never mind, just some school internet magic]
