Congrats to our new moderators. I'm sure you'll all do a good job.
Also, I'm back. *smirks* Hopefully, between all of us, we'll keep good energy up, and the forums good to go.

Re: CONTRAFIBULARITIES TO YOUR NEW MODERATORS
Well this whole thing totally passed me by. It would have been useful if someone had, you know, mentioned it to me. But, that said, these forums definitely needed more moderators, and now we have them, so even though I am unhappy about the way in which you were chosen, I do welcome your addition to the forums. I'm sure you'll all do a good job, and if you don't, expect to be called out on it.
My advice to you from my past experiences would be to be fair on people, without being too strict but without being too relaxed. Don't go over the top with enforcing the rules, but don't be so lax about it that stuff slips through the net. If someone breaks a rule, make sure you actually tell them what they've done wrong. If you are unsure whether a rule has been broken, consult your fellow moderators before taking action. Finally, do not abuse your moderator rights. They are just that: rights, not privileges, and they have been granted to you so that you can help enforce the rules. They do not grant you any sort of moral superiority, and the views of everyone else on the forums are just as valid as your own. Just because someone disagrees with you does not mean they are wrong.
One last thing. Yes, you should be respected as moderators, but you have to earn that respect.
Sidenote: Rick, I don't suppose you could give us some sort of breakdown showing how many votes each candidate got?

Every forum had a respective poll for people to vote in. They're dead now, but you can still see the results:bollythewolf wrote:Sidenote: Rick, I don't suppose you could give us some sort of breakdown showing how many votes each candidate got?

Re: CONTRAFIBULARITIES TO YOUR NEW MODERATORS
Oh no, I definitely appreciate that you did that. What I don't appreciate is that I had no idea the nominations and voting was actually happening. Nominations took place on a day that I was very busy and didn't even think to check the forums, and as a consequence of that, I didn't know about the voting. Having looked over the results, I can tell you that one of the results would have definitely changed had I known about the voting.rickgriffin wrote:You're unhappy that I let the board nominate and vote for their own mods?bollythewolf wrote:so even though I am unhappy about the way in which you were chosen
All of that having been said, I do think that the community chose well. I just wish I had known about it.
EDIT: by the way, less than 10% of everyone on the forum voted for the moderators. This is why I am unhappy.

Also, I think the only thing that could have been decided with just one vote was Vespier Leo over RandomGeekNamedBrent. Everyone else won by at least two votes.

I actually didn't want to mention who it was out of respect for the person who lost, but yes, you're right.Sleet wrote:I appreciate your concern and I promise you that I'll do everything I can to keep your worries from being realized.

By the way, why -was- one person chosen over the other if they had the exact same number of votes? It should have gone to a run-off or something.

Re: CONTRAFIBULARITIES TO YOUR NEW MODERATORS
The moderators (that is, the ones that were here from before the promotions) did a vote to break the tie.
