Isn't the difference between global mod and local mod just a matter of which forums you can mod?

Anyways, just to respect the procedures, I change my nomination for Sleet to a the forum mod for The Comic and Not the Comic as it is clearly possible as seen with Kyderra's current position.

And I finished just as the post above came. Hahaha to me.

that is the question. (couldn't resist).
I think the veto is a good idea. the global mods should have mod experience before being mods.
sleet has more mod experience than all the other mods put together. :U

In all seriousness though, Making sleet a mod is a matter of technicality.

:shock: What the...!? Someone actually nominated me? MORE THAN ONE!?!? Wow....

Thank you to whoever nominated me! I really appreciate the gesture. Never thought I was enough of a presence to actually be considered......

Oh! And the Sleet debate? This will more than likely be a dumb idea, but perhaps since Sleet has created such a niche for him/herself, maybe a new position can be made? Like Peacekeeper, or troubleshooter or mod liaison? Make Sleet's name be yellow or violet or even brown! :lol:

The comic section is easy to keep track off, it's the Fan Projects that take up a lot of time on my end.
sleet is a great idea for a moderator, but that will not solve the fan fictions, for that we need someone like Copper I think.

I'm not too sure of what I can say, but...

Vesper Leo would be a great choice for not the comic mod.

Aqua would make a really awesome mod for the roleplaying section as well.

And, I'm not sure if Flint would probably be a good forum games moss. That being said, I'm not sure If he wants that though.

Also, believe me Beagle, my life might be a little busy along with most of the other things you say, but I am quite addicted to this place nowadays. Sure, my post count's decreased, but I still visit here a large amount. That being said, I guess I need to thank you for your concern...I think.

I would be a horrible Moderator due to being to heavily opinionated, and that being, I would not want any power to set me above people. I rather stick with correcting the number in the number game (Quick before they see). XP

The forum games section doesn't require lot's of moderation. definitely not enough to merit it's own mod.

How in the world would making Sleet a forum moderator be making things worse? What's wrong with making him be a forum mod first to see if she can even handle the power?

Are global mods more powerful than forum mods, or is it just a different distribution of jobs?
I don't think having Sleet as a forum mod would make things worse by any means, but I also think there wouldn't be a problem if (s)he was global, it depends on how strictly we're following procedure.

It's not going to make things worse. I'm just saying that rules are ok to bend when it's in the interest of improvement.

Global mods can moderate any forum on the boards and also have the power to ban. Those are the only differences I'm aware of, aside from the green names.

To my knowledge of things I think I heard from Dissension. Global Moderators have more powers. Just follow the rules. They are made to keep things fair. I agree that you need to test before just throwing the whole thing at someone. I am not sure Sleet would even like that. So calm down and follow the rules Rick has set. >_<

Sleet has modding experience. Like i said, (S)He's already a mod. It just needs to be made official.

and Sleet does indeed want to be a global mod.

If the job is the same, just with different jurisdiction, I'm not sure how being a forum mod can really be considered "training" for global modding, since the responsibilities are the same, but less laser-focused. Except for the banning thing- but how many times have we had to ban anyone here?

As I said, it depends on whether the rules are guidelines or RULES rules.

Hey, let's get Sleet or Rick or Diss or anyone else who knows what's what back in here
*whistle*

Oh don't be silly; this is a dictatorship. I'm just giving you the illusion of free elections.

That said! I don't believe I've spent enough time on the forums to be able to judge what everyone thinks of everyone else, but given everyone's high opinion of Sleet, I find it rather difficult to determine exactly why so many people are scared he's suddenly going to become intimidating just because he's a mod. For what it's worth, I've always thought that the active/involved mods are the best kinds of people when I visit forums, because I like there to be order.

Even so, Sleet wants the promotion. If he fills a different role, why begrudge him because he doesn't fill the same role he did before? Sometimes it's good for people to do something different. If he finds that the role doesn't suit him, he can always resign, too.

I'm in the middle of compiling tallies, will make the poll when I am done.

Actually, Beagle and I were the only ones who were against promoting Sleet, and we have sort of stopped holding the opinion.

Sleet is a little more active in it, though. (S)He decides decision things with the mods and tells them things and sends PM's to people to ninja-minimod.

Okay, having been through I have noticed that there was only one nomination for the The Comic forum (CaptainPea, who even said he doesn't post there that much). Any other nominations?

Current tallies (maxed out at five secondings, I max have missed some)

Global
Dissension |||||

The Comic
CaptainPea ||

Fan Projects
Copper |||||
Tha Housefox |||||

Not the Comic
Sleet |||||
RandomGeekNamedBrent ||
CaptainPea |||
Vespier Leo |||
Teh Brawler |

Roleplaying
44R0NM10 |||||
Tha Housefox ||
RockstarRaccoon ||
Aquablast |||

The poll is not open yet, just letting everyone know what this looks like so far.

Also, I veto your request to overturn the veto for direct promotion. While Global Mods don't do MUCH more than forum mods, from my experience on the boards it is a LOT harder to keep up with ALL the boards than just a few. I suppose that's why I rarely do that anymore; I tend to only visit The Comic forum. I'm doing this to make sure for one that the mods aren't prone to burnout as several of my current global mods have been.

well here's a good way to get banned.

With all due respect, of course, I am personally very confident Sleet can Handle being a global mod. He'll manage to stay active; she couldn't leave this place if he tried. And if Mods burning out is a concern, then Diss will definitely need some help, and Sleet is a great candidate.

In response to "breaking the rules": Rick can't really break a rule he made himself by changing what the rule is. That's just changing the rules.

In response to global moderators and banning: I'm not positive, but I think it doesn't technically require Rick's approval; I'd imagine if someone comes in here and starts posting porn, racist propaganda, personal attacks, etc., it wouldn't be overstepping boundaries for a global moderator to ban the person on the spot with no approval from Rick. Raids and whatnot need to be dealt with quickly, after all.

In response to The Comic: I nominate Teh Brawler.

The vast majority of my interaction with other members of the Housepets forum happens in the Housepets IRC, so I don't get on the forums all that often. Still, I feel obliged to nominate Challenger01 to moderate the Not the Comic section of the forum on the grounds of his being a somewhat seasoned veteran of the forums and his generally laid back disposition.

Ok. here are mine.

Fan Projects: copper

He's a very friendly guy. And opened for others. I'm sure he will always reply to you when you will PM him a "hello". Also, he's very supportive when someone has some problems that can't deal with them.

Global Mod: Kyderra

He personally was very helpful for me. When I wasn't sure about something when I was posting in Fan Projects, I asked him for his opinion. His replies were always very friendly and helped me clear my doubts. he was also giving me advices. So in my opinion, Kyderra also deserves to become a global because of his friendlyness.
