You are actually the first person to post as a non-large cat in this thread.

Yes. That is exactly what I'm saying. *glares*

More than when people say "cat" they usually mean a house cat, even if it technically could include big cats.

Technically speaking since you started the conversation, the word "cat" basically means any animal in the felidae family.

The point of anthropomorphism is combining animal traits with human traits. As such, I have thumbs. Even though I'm an Arctic fox. Because I'm an anthropomorphic Arctic fox.

The HP characters are anthropomorphic animals, and they all have thumbs.

There's a lot of furries on here, including myself, that are some type of canine. That's cool... I wonder why that is though. Is it because dogs are the most popular or something?

Foxes are canids, but we aren't canines. Canines are dogs and wolves, for the most part.

Dogs are popular pets. As such, canids are more familiar to people and they're more likely to get featured in cartoons and other anthropomorphic works. More exposure means more fans, and more furries want to be those species.

Now, as for this forum, we're a forum for a webcomic that has most of its cast being cats and dogs. As such, the furries that are fans of it, and by extension, the furries that post here, are more likely to be dogs, cats, and animals similar to them.

Fun fact: if furries chose species according to actual prevalence and not with our many species biases, there would be about one member of the order Carnivora (which includes probably like 90% of all fursonas, cats, dogs, wolves, foxes, bears, and many others included) at each Anthrocon. Only one. Source.

Which would explain why the scientific name for the is canis lupus familiaris.

No. Not as such, at least. I like fantasy in general, not furry fandom in particular, nor do I have a fursona. Or at least not one that I would attach to myself, or that's developed in any meaningful way.

I mean, would you apply the trekker (trekkie?) label just because you enjoy Star Trek? No, it has to actually be a hobby of yours. Likewise, my hobby (besides computer programming and the like) is fantasy.

Now this might change if I have a reason to, maybe friends pull me into it, as they have for other games, fandoms, etc (D&D, Wes Anderson, Star Trek, Steampunk, to name a few). I even find myself strangely attracted to tails. But, not at the moment.

Haha. Yeah, exactly. Actually, I meant "Not [calling myself a furry] at the moment" but I'll just roll with your quote. I mean, there's a few people who very well would disown me if I was seen with a tail - But no problem with my art collection. Why all the hate?

Furry (if I'm not mistaken :P) means you like Anthros and have a "fursona", which is basically a animal OC. If so, then yes, I'm a furry. I'm not sure if that's what it means or not, but from what my friends told me, that's what it means.

Well, that is one of the definitions, however, there are kinda more than one. Also, I believe that discussing that in this thread is going against the thread's rules.

Well, I don't exactly have a fursona but that's in progress, for more information please refer to the badly drawn avatar to the left side of your screen.

Nah, go ahead with it. The thread rules are basically "go with the forum rules, and if something gets out of hand without breaking the rules, I'll step in."

I voted yes. I am, and have been, a huge fan of anthropomorphic artistry for any number of years now. I can't explain why, but I just find that fur improves my interest (and even attraction, in some cases) of the human body, so considering myself a furry just seems like a no-brainer.

I had a lion cub fursona, which I hastily put together just for the sake of having an OC, on TLKFAA some five years ago, and I fairly recently had a friend in the fandom help me put together a new fursona that fit me a bit better (it ended up being a wolf-dragon hybrid), but I still don't feel like I associate with any animal in particular. If I did, it'd probably be a fox (lithe, quick, and clever; I know, I'm humble too); perhaps a fennec fox because I've always had slightly larger-than-average ears. Lol. Nah, probably a red fox or something simple like that.

I'd also love to go to a convention at some point, but I'm not sure when I might get a good chance to do so. As for fursuiting, I definitely think I'd be interested if I ever had about fifteen-hundred bucks just lying around waiting to be spent. If I ever do get one, I want to make sure I get one of the really nicely detailed ones; I know it'll be expensive no matter what, so I'd rather go the extra mile and get one I won't regret paying for and never wear.

I'm also keen to try my hand at crafting a pair of digitigrade stilts (likely with fur over them) because, simply put, I'm fascinated by them. I can't really explain it any more than my fascination with anthros themselves. I think I'm quite tall enough as is, but just the thought of having digitigrade legs (fake legs, granted) is rather exciting to me. :]

So, yeah. Definitely a furry.

I actually don't think we have too many foxes here. Shyanne changes a lot but I think he might be a red fox right now? But he never leaves the art thread anymore so I doubt he'll see this. Dogs and cats are most common in the Housepets! fandom for obvious reasons.

I would be. However, I've never been interested enough to get into the full fandom. I have thought of specific animals that I can relate to, in particularly a grey fox, but that's just like an alter ego, personality relation thing.

I would just say an apathetic furry, but there's a lot more I need to know.
