What brought about US involvement is what i meant.. What specific foreign policy?

You've probably already taken it, though

This is just a random interjection, but I took a graduate-level course on the history of the Vietnam Conflict, 1947-1975.

Keep posting when you reach 50 pages and I'll start a new thread when I get home.

That's a lot of the fascination about explosives and weapons, too. Sure, you might hate what is done with them, but that doesn't mean you can't admire their engineering. There are also people who are fascinated by the Nazi culture, too. Horrible things can be interesting and still be acknowledged as horrible.

I agree! US involvement was because of the Truman Doctrine, which stated that the United States would work to prevent the spread of communism outside of the Soviet block. We assumed that all communist governments were puppeted by the Soviets, which in Vietnam was untrue.

well, the Nazis were making a giant... thingy that basically makes a tornado, but it was supposed to be able to be aimed, and it was used for shootin' down aircrafts :3

Personally, I'd rather take an AVENGER AA system over a FLaK '88.

Or is this strictly WWII tech?

Uh, yeah it would have killed him if he was in the concrete bunker in which he normally held the meetings.

nope mythbusters busted it. They needed more explosives to create a shockwave that was deadly enough. And yes that is it id.

As i recall, the explosive used in valkyrie killed several high ranking officials meeting there. However, the bomb was placed on the wrong side of the table, so it only gave him minor injuries. If it had been placed nearer to him it probably would have killed him

In the reality (if I remember it properly) nobody died, only few people were injuried and it was effect of puting the bomb near the leg of table.
