The HP! Forum Mock TV Tropes Page

Post by Sleet »

So, we're going to pretend that our forum (not just Forum Games) has a TV Tropes article! So we'll need a picture, a description, and tropes that describe the forum, its denizens, and past events! So to do that, we need edits! Since only the moderators and I can edit my posts, if you are not one of those, just post what you want to add/edit/delete here and I will edit it into my main post! With any luck, we'll have what resembles a real article in no time! I'll leave it blank for now, so we can see it grow from nothing!

But before we start, some quick rules:
1.) Follow the guidelines of TV Tropes as best as you can. Here is a good guide.
2.) No posting negative tropes about other members unless you have a very good reason to believe they won't mind. If you're wrong, you have just flamed another member, which might be a bannable offense. Better safe than sorry.
3.) No posting tropes about yourself unless they're negative.
4.) Above all else, forum rules apply. If a trope has a swear word in it, you can still post it, but make sure it's censored (such as "Jerkcuss," "Jerk***," Jerk[censored]," et cetera). I will not provide links to those tropes in my original post, however, unless Diss tells me I can.

So without further ado, onto the page:

I'm going lenient on this since we're just starting out, but please be mindful of rule #3.

Why does rule 3 have to apply? Not all tropes are negative.

I know. It's just more fun if the positive tropes are edited in by someone else. The only reason you're allowed to post negative tropes for yourself is because other people aren't allowed to edit them in for you.

*Fan Preferred Couple: Grapenut, anyone?

And, in that same vein...

*Shipping: And how. Often overlaps with...
*Pormanteau Couple Name/Idiosyncratic Ship Naming: Grapenut, King of Hearts, Gapres, Grapewell... did I miss any?

*Warm And Fuzzy Feeling: A number of fanfics featuring Grape and Peanut.
** If two characters in the Pet Friendly RP start dating, this is sure to follow. "Nothing to see here folks, just a couple of cute animals cuddling. Move along, move along."

*Gosh Dangit To Heck: Everyone, by necessity. :P

Eh, I suppose that I'll put myself down for one.

*Grammar Nazi: Coatl Ruu, but he tries to be nice about it.

(Does that count as a negative? I think it does, but I'm not sure.)

jeesus.
'k.

i swear sleet made this thread just to suck me back in.

pea is obviously the largest grammar nazi ever, everyone in the art thread falls into 'better than you think you are' (nick is proooooooo), the most random strip ever also falls under random events plot, Kizer is something of a Card Carrying Villain, some of what coatl said is more about the comic and not the forum, though Pormanteau couple name applies to a few things still, i.e. dissleetion, etc., and i dont think you understand the meaning of MIB.

it is my job as a troper.

That was primarily directed towards Psykeout, but it goes to everyone. The point isn't, "hey Sleet, you should add this idea I had!" It's supposed to be "I am unofficially editing this into the page." At that point, I will copy+paste it, fix any minor errors/inconsistencies and be on my merry way.

Anyway yeah I'm pretty much going to murder convention and not name names or anything useful like that. I'm just going to list just a few tropes that could fit in various spots or on various people. You guys can decide, or whatever.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/M ... usJapanese (oh come on how isn't that on there already?)
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/M ... FullOfEels (most of the time when people try to use other languages here it ends up like this)
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/M ... gnCussWord (people try, trust me)

by the way, the quote should be "So then Max can't snort catnip off Grape's chest?" - Sinder
i have tentatively added it in

Additionally, I disagree with Sleet being The Smart Guy since that pretty specifically refers to planning and ideas rather than flat out intelligence or wittiness, I disagree with Sleet being a cloudcuckoolander since he's not all that oblivious at all (also despite his location being cloudcuckooland), and I especially disagree with the concept of anyone being both at the same time!

Actually a lot of the ones that are people-based seem a bit off-kilter
I was going to make a joke but then I did.

Man, it's hard to put on a straight face on this silly little comic forum, but i like to picture the HP Forums as a playground full of dreamers with silly theories on a daily basis.

But then again, i never touch the RPing section <_< >_> *goes to sleep again*

You can edit those all in/out if you'd like, Ebly. If you're a moderator, there's no reason you have to wait for me. Also, it's fine to undo edits if you think they're applying tropes wrong.
